Me: Okay, your check will be held for 2 business days.
Them: Why? At (insert other bank name) it would clear!

A check drawn on the bank it is presented at has a better chance of clearing. But any check over 100 we have to hold for at least 2 business days, save for payroll or government checks or other exceptions. This is so we can make sure the other account has the funds available and the check will not return.
If a check returns bad and you have already spend the money, then your account will be penalized the amount of the check.

I'm sorry. All I'm hearing is BankTalk for "We have no idea what we're doing."
I am still hung up on that one widdle factoid from history class so long ago. That banks
outright stealBorrow from your account so they can use that money towaste untold amountsINVEST IN "FUNDS" so that they can make money and be a business because its appearently not profitable to just be "The Building that has All the Safes in it so you can Lock Up your Money that you Slaved Away for." Because somehow that makes sense in this world. You're given money for safekeeping, so you start using it for your own benefit so that when that person who gave it to you in the first place can't take out the same, exact amount.I figure a check is pretty much a signed promise. "These here peoples said I earned this here money from them. Move it from their account to mine, plz." Kind of simple math, YO.
