  1. Fact of the Day #5: The famous cartoon character Mickey Mouse was inspired in part by Charlie Chaplin, specifically, his “Little Tramp” character of the silent film era.

I also remember reading he was named after Mickey Rooney, another silent film star. :dash: He ended up voicing Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (Disney's earlier creation) a few years later in a weird coincidence. :wau:

It’s amazing how much history is found in such a famous character. To know that these big shots remember their roots at least, you know?

Chaplin meanwhile once admitted he was wrong to kill off The Tramp when he did. He felt the atomic age had a lot of room for the character. His last appearance as portrayed by Chaplin was in 1936’s Modern Times, where audiences also heard his voice for the first time... sorta. It was just a gibberish song.

      Chaplin was a master troll.

And Sonic the Hedgehog's design was inspired by famous cartoon mascots like Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny. In fact, at one time, he almost was a bunny. :fluttershy:
