      @Princess of Luck 🍀🔥 When I say finite I mean in that it has a starting point. It is infinite in the sense that it could continue expanding forever, and will be something we can never escape.

      You just described it though. Nothing is infinite. Nothing travels faster than light. And yet the universe does at its farthest reaches. Why?

      Because the universe is mostly nothing!

      To be clear, the particles, objects, galaxies, pop singers- they do not travel faster than light. But the universe does so in its own weird way. But the speed at which the universe expands is not the same sort of speed you or I might think of. It travels at speed per distance, not speed per time. 
       

      The universe is a finite place, but the concept of infinity in it stems from the possibility of it expanding forever. But it cannot reach “infinity” in scale. Instead the closest we get is a continuing rate of expansion. This is, of course, barring any other end to the universe.
