  1. Here comes friday’s question:

What is the current prevailing hypothesis for the ultimate fate of the universe?

    A. Accelerating Universe

    B. Heat Death

    C. Big Crunch

    D. Big Bounce

    This was…

    Spoiler

    B. The Big Crunch/Bounce theories were popular until the early 2000’s, when it became apparent that the universe’s expansion is not slowing down but instead getting faster. Accelerating Universe suggests it would gradually tear itself apart and is no longer viewed with confidence, and Heat Death suggests that the universe will eventually become too cold to sustain any life. This theory is also known as the Big Chill or the Big Freeze.

    This week’s winner is…

    Spoiler

    @Astral Soul! Nicely done!

I hope you all had fun and to see you next time. Until then, keep looking up!

@Astral Soul glad to hear it! Congratulations, and you’re welcome anytime

  2. Here comes yesterday’s question:

The maximum mass limit of a white dwarf star was determined by which of the following people?

    A. Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar

    B. Giovanni Cassini

    C. Edwin Hubble

    D. Clyde Tombaugh

    This was…

    A.  The limit is approximately 1.44 solar masses. Any more than that and the object will continue to collapse.

    Here comes today’s question:

What is the current prevailing hypothesis for the ultimate fate of the universe?

    A. Accelerating Universe

    B. Heat Death

    C. Big Crunch

      Totally Nyx

      Is it still C? :ooh:

    3. Astral Soul

      Astral Soul

Well 'prevailing' is here the keyword cause nobody knows for sure.

But the things we do know all hinting to a heat death of the universe:

      So it's B

    4. Samurai Equine

      Samurai Equine

      I'm guessing C. Although, I've heard B many times, I'll stick with C.

  3. Here comes yesterday’s question:

In 1994, the first ever recorded extraterrestrial collision occurred between Jupiter and which of the following objects?

    A. 1950 DA

    B. Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9

    C. Cassini

    D. Europa

    This was…

    Spoiler

    B. The comet was ripped into pieces by Jupiter and impacted with the giant over the course of a few days. Had this occurred on Earth, we would have all been killed.

    Here comes today’s question:

The maximum mass limit of a white dwarf star was determined by who of the following?

    A. Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar

    B. Giovanni Cassini

    C. Edwin Hubble

    D. Clyde Tombaugh

    1. Astral Soul

      Astral Soul

This is sooooo my week :>

      It's A :)

For a little context: This is a theoretical maximum for the mass of white dwarfs. Has a white dwarf a mass larger than this limit then it will turn into a neutron star. I even know the value of it: 1.44 times the mass of  our sun - at least as long as it doesn't have any active nuclear fusion processes anymore which would counter act the gravitational forces and increase this maximum.

let's make a random fact for @Samurai Equine from this:

Our sun will end as a white dwarf

    2. Samurai Equine

      Samurai Equine

      I assume it's A.

      @Astral Soul

Stop predicting where I'll post! :BornAgainBrony: It makes me feel appreciated!

      Astral Soul

      @Samurai Equine

Sry, when I went too far with this xD

But I like to make people feel appreciated :>

  4. Here comes yesterday’s question:

The Voyager probes have been in service for just shy of 45 years now. How far away is Voyager 1?

    A. 10.86 light minutes

    B. 45.3 light years

    C. .0050 parsecs

    D. 21.5 light hours

    This was…

    Spoiler

    D. If a light year is the distance that light can travel in one year, in 45 years, Voyager 1 hasn’t even managed to travel one light day yet. It will take over 315 years to travel one light week, 1300+ to travel a light month, and around 17,720 years to travel one light year.

    Here comes today’s question:

In 1994, the first ever recorded extraterrestrial collision occurred between Jupiter and which of the following objects?

      It's B

and I know this by hard. This is a very famous one aaaand  in 94 I tried together with my dad and a telescope to see this as it happened. This actually a really wholesome memory for me. Thanks for reminding me <3

      Spoiler

Additionally the other three options can be discounted:

      A. 1950 DA is  one of the risk–listed asteroid which could be potentially collide with earth .. as I recall in a couple of hundread years .. so not sure bout this time frame

      C. Cassini (Huygens) was launched in 97. So no chance it could collide in 94. I know nothing else regarding this topic which bears that name.

      D. Europa (one of the four Galilean moons orbiting Jupiter). Can be discounted rather easily as well since I (and we all) would know if they had collided in 94 xD

    4. Samurai Equine

      Samurai Equine

If I didn't know better, I'd say D just so every letter was guessed. But I know it's B. :adorkable:

  5. Here comes yesterday’s question:

Of the listed stars, which of the following has the longest life expectancy?

    A. The Sun

    B. Betelgeuse

    C. Proxima Centauri

    D. R136a1

    This was…

    Spoiler

    C. The Sun has about 10-11 billion years total, Betelgeuse has about 10 million years and is due to explode very soon (in astronomical terms), R136a1 has around 3 million years, but as a red dwarf star, Proxima Centauri is expected to live for hundreds of billions to trillions of years.

    Here comes today’s question:

The Voyager probes have been in service for just shy of 45 years now. How far away is Voyager 1?

  15. I like a villain who isn’t evil for the sake of being evil. I don’t like one dimensional mustache twirlers. I want to see what their reasoning is, and it doesn’t always have to be huge deep reasons. Humans kill for 3 main reasons: Money, Sex, Revenge, or some combination. Sometimes the simplest reasons in a villain’s behavior are the most effective.
