  1. A big thanks to マケッズアントニオ from P+ for sharing. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGekwrcI5sw
  2. EQD certainly weren't lying about the puns. Sure they're not as deliciously terrible as Trixie's "NEEIIIIIIGH-sayers," but they're probably up there.
  3. I'm sure most other bronies are doing the same right now. The video won't embed right now, so here's a link. I'll keep trying in the meantime.
  4. Haven't put this on for a couple weeks since first coming across it, but now I'm ready for more.
  5. Given the circumstances, this is the best thing that could have happened. We still get Derpy (sans name) in her signature look which means we'll still get to play Where's Waldo with her wall-eyed stare.
  6. Today I was reminded just how much God Bless Tiny TIm is one of my favorite albums ever. For someone who was mainly seen as a novelty act, his debut album offers a rich, eclectic* variety of tunes. The first, Strawberry Tea, is the quintessence of lush serenity thanks to producer Richard Perry's string arrangements. The second is an interesting exercise in shifting between song segments. The opening bass is a bassline in '68 akin to what could later be heard on Joy Division songs. It also sets an ominous tone that would be better shared by the sinking humans who instead choose to merrily sing pub songs as they're submerged. Incidentally, these two songs are right next to each other in this exact order on the album. I encourage everyone to hunt this down and go through the whole thing. Another song worth noting on this album is "Living in the Sunlight, Loving in the Moonlight" which you may recognize as the song that opened the debut episode of Spongebob Squrepants. And there's "Tiptoe Through the Tulips," but that goes without saying. * The word eclectic gets tossed around a lot these days, especially on shows like NPR's "Morning Becomes Eclectic" where it doesn't always fit, but it's an apt descriptive of this album.
  7. Given the negative energy surrounding this whole debacle, I encourage everypony to read these words of encouragement. Just so it's out there, the DVD as is hasn't been altered. We may see otherwise when the DVD is released at the end of the month, but the review copy has everything still in tact. ---------------------------------- Yes, it's upsetting that the moment marking the full consciousness of our fandom was removed. And yes, Hasbro could have handled this a lot better. Not only was it disappointing that they caved to this overly-PC minority, but they picked a bad time by laying this on us when there also isn't a new episode this Saturday. However, it must be remembered that this was a decision by higher-ups, not the creative team. What they do is indeed magic, and it's our duty as fans to keep supporting the team. It's sad they had to make this compromise, but in the end it gets us more great episodes for future Saturdays instead of a cancellation. You may be tempted to view this situation as "the day the Derpy died," "the moment our fandom went sour" or some such thing and crawl back to the pessimism we escaped from with this show in the first place. However, these are only a few people in an otherwise amazing whole. Every group has a few people who taint the group's image, and we're no exception. Rather than let this turn of events get to us, take a note from Pinkie Pie "giggling at the ghosties" and remember what we've accomplished as a fandom (to name a few): - Art/Music/Animations (some w/ original voice acting)/fan fictions (a higher rate of good ones)/etc. - A successful news sites like Equestria Daily and DerpyHooves.com and podcasts like Bronyville and Everfree Radio - Feeds that share such content like forums such as this and Celestia Radio. - Meetups and Conventions - Lots of Money Raised for Charity - Something as simple as comforting and encouraging people through hard times (even those who considered suicide) Let the parasprites be and keep on showing the world why it's awesome to be a brony!
  8. Though I voted I loved them all (no use dividing the whole that made the Silver Age of cartoons), but the Steven Spielberg ones particularly resonate with me. For me, they certainly demonstrate that mid-90's prime when Kids WB started out at the top of its game. Plus as a kid growing up in the LA/OC area it always felt as if the show was made for me. Think I'm wrong? Get some perspective and then come back to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExMvRa2TZZw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJxmJia4ffU
  9. http://mynintendonews.com/2012/02/24/nintendo-president-says-the-old-franchise-revival-on-the-3ds-is-just-gossip/ So it appears Iwata has come forward and called shenanigans on using the 3DS to bring back old franchises. This does include our topic game, Seaman.
  10. http://mynintendonews.com/2012/02/20/nintendo-planning-on-reviving-other-companys-titles-on-3ds-next-title-is-seaman/ Nintendo is now planning to revive "fan favorites" from other developers, the first of which is Vivarium's Seaman which was originally released on the Dreamcast. If you don't know what that is, observe: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YCo_1BeLsw Your thoughts?
  11. I really hope Iron Will is the best thing since Photo Finish. This and "Green Isn't Your Color" are both episode 19s, for crying out loud. Edit: Comment below already alerted me it's episode 20.
  12. The two latest from The Beatle Bronies: An additional announcement was made that preceding the Mandopony/Michelle Creber collab premiere on Thursday at 9 PM EST Michelle would be in the Everfree Radio chat.
  13. Since I'll be travelling Saturday, it's good this episode was available now. It was fun and cute, and I'm glad everypony had the same reaction to Big Mac & Cheerilee's condition. Sweetie Belle happens to be my favorite Crusader, and I'd say this is her best episode yet. The song is a part of that, of course. I didn't notice it pointed out here yet, so I'll mention it: Doctor Whooves and Derpy together on a bridge. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqxSKDV_bHg&feature=g-u-u&context=G2f3c73eFUAAAAAAAAAA There now needs to be art where Big Mac hops around with Pinkie like that. Also, why did it have to be Berry Punch's house!?
  14. It would be funny if Vinyl Scratch was related to Shining Armor and had to come to terms with her royal roots. I notice Big Macintosh is a popular choice around here, so it's worth pointig out Lauren Faust pitched an episode where BM's passive "Eeyup" apporoach to life caused problems between the opinionared female members of the Apple family.
  15. The preview pic is very appropriate given the premise, aside from the fact this isn't a Skyrim crossover. Wait, why am I not acknowledging the best thing about this? It's a friggin Fluttershy episode! All together on 3: 1...2.......3! yay.
  16. This picture gave me an idea: Fluttershy treats animals, and Nurse Redheart treats ponies. There should be an episode where they have to work together somehow. Maybe they have to combine hospitals and treat some of each other's patients as well.
  17. After watching this redone opening, a question hit my mind: If you could recast these shows, what characters from Friendship is Magic would you cast? Here's 3 I've come up with: 1. I Dream of Jeanie starring Rarity as Jeanie and Spike as Major Nelson 2. Bewitched starring Twilight Sparkle as Samantha and The Great and Powerful Trixie as her mother, Endora. I haven't come to a solid conclusion on who would make a good Darrin (her husband), so shoot any recommendations my way. 3. Gilligan's Island. I made a point for this one to feature minor/background ponies, so I'm not making Rarity "The Movie Star" despite how perfect she'd be for that. - Derpy as Gilligan - Boxy Brown (her supervisor in "Feeling Pinkie Keen") as The Skipper - Fancy Pants as The Millionaire - Fleur as The Millionaire's Wife - Photo Finish. Rather than try and replace "The Movie Star," I'd just love to see how Photo Finish (a celebrity in general) would interact with the other ponies on a desert island. - Doctor Whooves as The Professor (of course) - Carrot Top/Golden Harvest as Mary Ann. Since she's paired with Derpy a lot anyway, it's perfect.
  18. I would actually go with Chimicherrychanga, though if there's a character limit I'd go with Cherrychanga. The -changa is the part that's easier to associate with the food.
  19. It took me half a week to put my thoughts on this episode into words, but I think I'm ready. While I don't think this episode is the #1 episode of the season, it's among the best. The jokes were a plenty, lots of neat animation freeze-frames were to be found, and we even got an action-packed chase scene. I resisted the temptation to watch the I Love Lucy scene prior to my first watch, but it was a real treat when I got to it. In case you aren't already aware, I'm a Pinkie Pie fan through and through, so it should come as no surprise her expert use in this episode had me grinning from cheek-to-cheek. I was actually a bit irritated Rarity was the one who got stuck with her on the ride home, because I would love to ramble aimlessly about food names with her. My preference is Chimicherrychanga, btw, though I'll go with Cherrychanga if there's a letter limit. Oh yes, and there's no forgetting what happens when you break a Pinkie Promise. As much fun as I had with this episode, I have to come down on it for being yet another Applejack episode where her key role is being a victim of her flaws. I expected her to be conflicted enough to be gone in the first place, but I'd assumed she'd have some kind of redeeming moment in that 22 minutes. More than anypony outshining her, I believe this was her main problem. The lesson is well-stated that your real friends won't stop loving you even if you fail, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want a grander ending for her. I'm certain most AJ fans are still waiting for an episode where Applejack basically saves the day, and I think Apple Cider said it best in his fantasy episode where they Apple Family fixes a crisis lickedy-split that nopony else can. This doesn't get brought up as much, but one of the most diminishing factors to Applejack's central role is the fact that this essentially a Mane-6 adventure episode. Perhaps if they sent the Apple Family instead, seeing as they had more of them at the ranch which I was stoked about , that would have helped. I thought Brushin Bones from Everfree Radio had a point when he said Apple Bloom should have snuck off at least to see her sister. Finally, we come to Derpy. In the time she's been used, I'd gotten used to her being the silent character who provided physical comedy. Though this eliminates that, (paraphrasing a Joni Mitchell song) something's lost and something's gained in watching every Saturday. I, for one, had no real issue with Tabitha's execution here, but maybe repeat performances can help her hone the voice. I'm also glad that BaldDumboRat has chosen to keep working with her original voice despite this episode. Again, I consider this one of the best episodes of the season so far. Let's just hope The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 fills the void I spoke of (btw, that's still the best episode name they've ever come up with).
  20. Here's a little Peter Hamill, the singer for Van Der Graaf Generator. I'd encourage everyone to check out the catalog of the band proper as well. If you like King Crimson, I think you'll like this. He's got one of the most distinctive voices I can think of, and he's a great writer. These songs in particular are more subdued, but there are more raw, rockin' tunes to be found. "Killer," "Plague of Lighthouse Keepers" and "Lemmings" are some I can recommend offhand.
  21. I'm basically likening that with being a fan of "underrated" Zelda games like Majora's Mask and Zelda II. It's a well-liked game but not one of the games that's gotten the kind of recognition others have. As a result, there's a certain respect that comes with saying you're a fan of it. Recently Miyamoto called it the best Zelda for a starting player in terms of mechanics. I personally love the fact it's thematically based on Twin Peaks, and I'd like to see that style realized in a 3D Zelda. MM touched on it, still only being the OoT engine, so I'd like the idea to be taken further.
