Not a denial thing. Just a false sense of being able to have a conversation with a friend of yours, with absolutely no one else jumping in, being capable of jumping in, etc :3 People fall into the mindset because it doesn't happen all the time, but public is indeed public.

Honestly, I hate it when statuses become these long, pointless 'conversations', especially if I made a single response.

Way too many status conversations would be better off in PM, but people think statuses are just as fine, when they often aren't, is all.
