I have been using my time to RP with my friend these days, which takes part in a different world. So my recent arts are all OCs. And since my only Player Character is Moonlight Toccata, and my friend is an artist too, most of the arts belong to her too. Anyways, here they come.

I have my own where the batponies resided in caves and dense forests until the migration of the three pony tribes, and went on to compete for the newly available lands with the griffons. They reflect the history of the Germanic Franks and fight against a Romanesque Equestria which attempts to reestablish rule in ancestral lands, until it collapses under the competing species and Luna's uprising/recruitment of the batponies. Inspired and left to their own devices, they form a new culture of faith and militarism for her that grows and strengthens during the thousand years awaiting her return, but not without hitting bumps along the road to a more modern Germanic state.

 

The one Luna used to turn batponies into pegasi is actually an 'ancient recipe'

This is actually to stick to my friend's story. In his story, batponies was an ancient bunch from the north that fought as mercenaries with the alicorn King of ancient crystal empire, before all of them got trapped within another continent. It was supposed to be as ancient as the pre-classical era, with his different-world batponies referencing Spain(Aragon)

In lore, she is the descendant of the last Luna' s guard captain before Nightmare Moon's banishment. After the event, a part of the batponies live in the caves, and another part live in forest to not loosen their discipline and training. Darkforest is one of the leader of the forest batpony tribe, who hold a sacred(to them) responsibility to train the batponies inside the forest.

8) Lunardean flag

Lunardeal, the land of batponies. The name itself is a combination of Luna and Ardeal(Romanian of Transylvania), and a pun to Lunar + deal as well. This also implies that Lunardeal is both a reference to Transylvania and Romania(or Wallachia in Dracula's age)

The batponies there were once pegasi without flight ability, casted out from Pegasopolis(ancient pegasus tribe) in ancient time. Without any racial advantage, they naturally became the victim of other races.

As such, they made a deal with young Luna, which turned them into batponies using an ancient recipe and magic, but in exchange, to give out the strongest batponies to be Luna's royal guards. Some of them supported the deal, and some of them didn't. Those who supported it turned into batponies, and those who didn't remain as pegasi.

With the night vision and strong combat ability in addition to the regained flight ability, some more traditional Cloudsdale pegasi wanted to reclaim the land of Lunardeal. Especially Luna's banishment, they again started to pester the land. Luckily, Celestia wanted to preserve the land of her beloved sister, helping to prevent Lunardeal from falling each time. Adding to the discrimination towards batponies' 'scary' look, they become a traditional bunch who still possess racial weariness, and seldom go out of Lunardeal except for the guards, making them rarely seen even in the show.

With the newfound acceptance of previously known as 'terrifying' creatures like dragon and changelings, and the new emphasis of harmony between species, Lunardeal finally has reached its peace.

That's why the flag is highly identical to the Pegasopolis one, with black pegasus wings below the batpony wings(also a parody to the black bird in the Transylvania/Wallachia flag)

I'm glad there's a Screwball fan club! I always love her design and whimsical personality. I even got inspirations from her eyes in one of my batpony oc!

Recently, I decided to redesign my Vesper Flare because she was either too saturated or too dark, making the colours clash with one another's and not easy on the eyes. Here's an art of the old design :

As a matter of fact, I redesigned her with a more soft and pastel colour. I also added complexity to the hat.

After the knowledge that a friend of mine is preparing his thesis, I drew this art on a whim

I tried to draw a royal portrait for Twi

This is the first time I attempt to draw digital oil painting, without references(second time if counting with references)

Since I personally prefer Twi pre-timeskip, I drew this version instead

The background helps the feeling of eerieness from encountering a creature from the night.

The glowy eyes got to be the best part of the piece, in my opinion.

The sketchyness and roughness on the lines (although they are obviously from the sketch on itself) give it a fresh feel and also improve on the idea of a sinister encounter, even if the character on itself is friendly or not.

I guess maybe try playing around with the pupils next time. Not because they are not fine the way you made them, but just to see if you like it better with darker -if not black- pupils. Remember batponies have cat-eye pupils, and so, they should probably work like them. What I mean is, if your batpony is in a dark place or if the pony is focusing on something or interested, the pupils are likely to grow and be rounded instead of closed sharp lines.

I didn't follow the traditional batpony one when I designed the eyes. I took references from Screwball, Neferpitou from hxh to derive a maniac and whimsical feeling. So Ivd like to keep that way for now

Last Thursday was the annual dance performance in school. As usual, I decided to do something more unique than those K-Pop dancers, so I went with the hat kid smug dance and meme path.

The result was quite satisfying. It's great to see some of my classmates were able to recognize the meme, since AHIT is not a mainstream game, and I'm living in a Asian city. To celebrate this, I decided to draw my ponysona doing the smug dance

The colour is a bit off cause there's something wrong with my PC monitor

Time to buy a new monitor

(I've already tried my best to make it into the original colour I used, but there's still a few differences. For example, the coat should be dimmer and the mane should be brighter)

I have to admit that she do is the life of a party, but not much collage party since she's just a filly

It's just that her playfulness and extroverted side aren't her primary characteristics. She's more defined by her curiosity and ambition

Thanks! She is partly inspired by Cozy Glow tho I have to admit. 

Actually, I still keep a Disky Bolt. But now she's a unicorn with a darker shade of Stormy's mane

Imagine this but as a mare, also no vampire there

She's now called as Stormy Squall, a name less immature-sounding than Disky Bolt. The name also suggest her strong reaction towards external entities 

I'm a bit tired of those RD-like ocs(immature flyers), so I changed her personality for a bit. She's now the visionary, Idealistic and creative(out of touch with reality sometimes) type of pony. 

I also made her a filly now, it's fun to see little kids socializing with young adults
