I feel the need to share a recent facebook status of mine:
"I had a good day today.I was having a slow, but good week.As it drew to a close, and a long weekend opened up to me.But then all of that was spoiled...An artist I've enjoyed since I was a child, Don Fransisco, known for many a christian song, along with his wife Wendy, are actively banning people from posting on their FB page for not supporting this LGBT movement. And just made an post about claiming that scripture was written by men and is thus not inerrant.I.... am still processing my emotions on these events. But one thing I know is that I wont be having the relaxing weekend I thought I would."
And with that: inform you all, though I know this will cause problems for me,that I will be signing the recent, and heavily questioned, 'Nashville Statement'
Although the 'deny' portion of Article 2 I still take issue with myself, but detailing that would argue semantics that detract from the point of this post.- Show previous comments 41 more

Then you use the term incorrectly.
The suffix 'phobe' is defined as a fear of.
Technically a 'homophobe' would be someone afraid of anything that's the same as something else. The only modifier to that is the context, which lends to homosexuality specifically.
If you continue to read the first article, it's not specific to homosexuality.
As to your question of 'why', because people wish to state their beliefs. All humans do.
For what it 'accomplishes', for the moment nothing. It's simply a statement, as I said before.
You have yet to answer my question, but I will answer your mis-worded one as I did before:
I chose to belief what I do some time ago. That decision will not change.
Please explain, if you would be so kind, as to how I am 'homophobic'
