The last anime I watched was Sword Art Online. Highly controversial anime, I know, but I just can't stop watching it XD

Other than anime itself, I have also been playing this anime rhythm game called Love Live School Idol Festival.

If you want SAO but better, look up SAO Abridged by Something Witty Entertainment. Fixes 99% of the controversial stuff, easily and legally found on Youtube, and hilarious.

If not, well, we all need a little trashy escapist anime now and then ;P

the jokes and the characters itself. Plus the plot isn't that strong at all. the only good thing about this show is death the kid and his sidekicks.

I think you'll like Fire Force then. While I don't find it annoying (most of the time, Black Star is an exception), I do recognize SE was more 'juvenile' with its humor. There's still a little bit of that in FF, but nowhere near as much. Overall the series seems directed a more adult audience.

I want to give it a try but then I found out it’s the same creator as Soul Eater and I’m not a fan of that anime. Because it’s annoying. But is the fire force better?

Well what about Soul Eater did you find annoying? Kinda hard to answer the question without knowing that first.

Fire Force. So far I'm really liking this...

It's a very good show. I love how Atsushi Ōkubo comes up with such unique worldspaces to set his stories in.

Doesn't hurt that the animation and sound design are beautiful as well XP

  5. Fire Force 8. Done by the same peeps who did Soul Eater back in the day. Similar art style, but the animation is smoother, visuals are crisper, and the overall vibe/storyline is less childish in it's humor and direction. And the sound design is wonderful. Plus, who doesn't love a show focused on pyrokinetics fighting fire demons?

  6. Was glad to see more unique, expressive, and funny facial expressions make a return in this episode. I feel like those have been kinda absent this season.

As far as actual content, I didn't think I was gonna like this episode, since I tend not to enjoy the whole 'stereotypical teen/pre-teen dance/romance' shtick, but it was cute. Deadmau5 Spike gave me a giggle.

Also can we talk about how adorable this face is?

Growing up with this show, this was so weird to watch. But goddamn it was worth it

He seems so fucking done XD

I know, right? I grew up with him too, and I love that he just took the gloves off.

"We broke Bill Nye!" Yes, yes we did XD

There's another clip or two of him earlier in the episode that aren't quite as in your face, but are still great, if you didn't see them/watch the whole thing already.

  8. OMFG, I loved this and just had to share it (timestamped at appropriate moment w/ slight lead in for context)

Didn't know where else to post this, this forum seemed most appropriate, but I just had to share.

"I for one am absolutely on board with his new gritty reboot" You're not alone in that, John XD

This is a quite old bug and it's within this text editor, so yes, it's not your keyboard, nor your PC.

When you're putting emoticons by typing their names like this:

      Reveal hidden contents

    JiVuz61.gif&key=7a1986769ca31b7b069f60b8

There's a chance, that after selecting the emoticon it will insert it AND create a new paragraph (go to next line, that is). Normally it puts the emoticon and lets you type further, right after it (as seen in the gif above), but sometimes it *automatically* goes to the next line for some reason.

When that happens, the editor glitches and arrow keys refuse to work. What's more, the search box with these won't appear anymore.

      Reveal hidden contents

    W3M0RJN.gif&key=a0ba74220cdc380c2cbc929e

    Summarizing, as a result:

eQYSUUc.png Emoticon search won't popup. You'll have to type full names of the emoticons or use the button in the toolbar.
eQYSUUc.png You can't move the text cursor using arrow keys. You can still move it while holding [SHIFT] though, but it also highlights the contents.
eQYSUUc.png This also partially affects mentioning. While the search box does appear, you cannot select the user with the keyboard, as arrow keys refuse to work. You need to type the name and click the member with a mouse. Otherwise mentioning won't work.

1KHxxtz.png This glitch can also occur after mentioning users. Just like with emoticons, there is a chance, that after mentioning a member, the arrow keys will break with the effects mentioned above.

1KHxxtz.png This only affects the text editor the glitch occurred in. For example, if you go to status updates and the editor glitches in one of them, everything will work properly in other statuses. That's why things worked again when you switched to thread creation.

Sadly, at the moment there aren't any known ways to fix this other than refreshing the page. That happens and when it does, you need to refresh the page to get it working properly again. A good idea is to copy everything you have before refreshing, just in case. :twi:

Ah. Weird. I posted because I've been on the site off and on for a year now and it only just started happening to me in the last few days, so I was very confused lol.

  10. Is anyone else having issues where they can't move the text cursor with their keyboards arrow keys lately? As far as I can tell it's not my keyboard or PC, cuz it works just fine on any other site or text editor program, it's just the textboxes here, but it seems not to happen immediately...there's something that causes it to stop and I can't figure out what, or how to get it working again once it's stopped besides going to a new page and writing a new comment/post/message (eg. just before I posted this, I was commenting on a friend's status, worked fine initially, had problems start at some point in the middle of writing the comment, and now it's working fine again as I write this post).

I'm not gonna comment on your opinions on the episodes themselves, personally I've enjoyed them all, but that's subjective. But what exactly is "Filler" in a show like this? How can there be "Filler" in a primarily episodic slice of life based show? If you don't like the episode fine, but it's a bit weird to call it filler.

    Generally/for past seasons, I'd agree.

Like I said, from the pre-season marketing it seemed like the majority focus was gonna be on the clash between the two sides (Mane 6 vs Grogar and company). Again, I get that not every episode was going to be about that, but the frequency of that story arc popping up is spread out so far it kind of ends up feeling like filler in something like, say, DBZ, where you're just like 'GET BACK TO THE DAMN STORY/FIGHT ALREADY.' I also mean there seems to be a number of episodes that aren't following the villains and the conflict with them, that (from the descriptions anyway) also don't seem to have a lesson in mind, they just seem to be there to reach the total episode count they were aiming for...in other words, filler. It's a SOL show, but it's SOL that's also trying to share moral or life lessons. When the majority of episodes are focusing on everything but what you marketed as the main arc of the season, and then some of those also seem to have no lesson, which is the main point of the show....yeah, it starts to feel the same way as filler.

Sparkle's 7 is an example of what I'm talking about. It's not focused on the overarching season plot, and near as I could tell there was no lesson it was trying to share. It was just....there. Ie., filler. As filler goes, it wasn't *bad*, but it 1) also didn't really get me hyped, and 2) just adds to me wondering when we're gonna get back to the overarching season plot.

Did that clear up what I mean? (Genuine question, not being snarky, and I ask cuz I'm reeeeally tired so I might not be expressing my thoughts in the clearest way).

  12. Aside from the premiere, this season's just been very meh or outright disappointing for me. Like I know not every episode is gonna be about the stuff that went down in the premiere, but the way they made it seem in pre-season marketing was that there was gonna be more of a focus on that, which I was looking forward to. But we've had not a single episode on the subject yet, and a good number so far have been about things characters already learned in the past (Twilight's OCD and panic, the School six not arguing to the point of calamity) or were just filler (Twilight's heist).

I haven't watched this episode yet, but the description just isn't 'revving my engine', which sucks cuz I love Patton. Next week's episode is about middle/high school BS, seemingly (school dance), and possibly lessons that have already been expressed by other stories (stay true to yourself/just be who you are), and then FINALLY the week after that we get another peek at the villains...and then we go back to 'normal' episodes for at least 5 weeks...which brings us to episode 13 in a 26 episode season, after which (meaning s9e14 onward) I can't find any titles or descriptions, until the first part of the finale, which reads:

    Spoiler

    Episode #9.25

Final Rainbows Part 1 Meet Queen galaxy star Solar Lunar is the like to Royal Princess Trio in the Mane 6 Defeat Grogar and mean Mane 6 same thing to Final Rainbows Song.

.........thanks IMDB for that stellar grammatical checking job, there; did the 'Does Bruno Mars is Gay?' author write that one for you? Dunno why all the other descriptions you have read just fine, but whatever -_- Anyway, that's one episode in an entire half season where we see what's going on with the villains, and if they keep that track record, that means we get ONE more episode before the finale showing how the villains are planning to do whatever it is they do, in the middle of a bunch of (again, to me) very meh episodes. So unless they change something, the finale's gonna seem like it came from nowhere, and I'm not going to be very enthused about the other episodes.

From looking at the descriptions for what's ahead, I see only one besides Frenemies where I'm actively interested (The Last Crusade), 2 where I'm not actively interested but am thinking 'this could be good, depending' (Going to Seed and Sweet and Smoky), and 3 that fall into either the 'filler' or 'they learned this/showed this lesson already' categories I mentioned earlier (She's all Yak, Student Counsel, and Between Dark and Dawn).

I dunno, maybe the second half will switch it up and be primarily about Grogar and co., but....

I just hoped for better from the final send off of the show :/

I've made the grave mistake of watching the first few episodes of Overlord and now I'm hooked beyond return. I can't stop watching and will be bummed out when I run out of episodes.

I just started binging this and am almost done with S3 as I write this, after two and a half days.

Also binged Saga of Tanya the Evil and watched the first episode of Isekai Quartet since that's the only one I could find that's been dubbed so far. (There's more out in sub if you want more of Ainz and co. btw)

Might move on to Re:Zero next to get some background on those characters since they're in Isekai Quartet too.

I wonder why renovating old buildings is a common cause of fires, don't they have safety precautions that would prevent this? Evidently, those precautions aren't enough to prevent such fires.

Of course they do, but accidents can always happen.

  15. Hmmmm.....gotta go back a bit for this one. Also probably the only *good* day I can remember, cuz all the others that *were* good became bad/associated with bad as time went on. Also gonna be kind of a longish post cuz it requires a wee bit of backstory and the story itself is on the longer side...I'll try to make it as concise as possible :P

Anyway, so growing up, dad was floor manager at a machine shop that made jet engine parts, and so was always bringing home posters and calendars of fighter jets from promo material from work, as well as toy models from business trips. On top of that, he took me to see Star Wars ANH when it re released in theaters in the early 90s (which incidentally was the first movie I ever saw in a theater, and I was 6), and also showed me Top Gun around the same time. Soooooooo between the dogfight scenes in SW, a movie literally about dogfighting, and constantly being exposed to jet fighter paraphernalia, I was pretty instantly hooked on flying, and wanted to be a fighter pilot. When I got into gaming a short time later, flight sims were one of my mainstays. Unfortunately, I also found out fairly early on that because without corrective lenses of some kind, I'm near the 20/200 limit for being legally blind, the military would never take me...nor would any civilian flight operation. Dreams smashed.

So my only way to engage with this passion was through the flight sims, and I played all kinds to death-realistic, arcade style, sci fi, you name it. Well, when I was 19, dad said he was gonna take us to LA on one of his business trips as our summer vacation. While we were out there, we found-completely by chance-this place where a bunch of ex USAF and USMC pilots had pooled money, bought a warehouse, filled it with a bunch of full cockpit style military surplus simulators, with a little lobby area. You pay the not-exactly-cheap fee, they sit you down with everyone else who's there, give you a little briefing on how to fly and work the controls, explain what you'll be doing, then put you all in your cockpits. Then they run everyone individually through every takeoff and landing scenario there is-day and night, land and sea, fair weather and foul-and when everyone's done that, they throw you all in a free for all dogfight with each other over virtual San Diego.

Now as I said, I played realistic flight sims at home, and I played them...well, realistically. I knew how to fly already, basically, and I was good at it. So I basically napped through the briefing. Aced all the takeoff and landing scenarios once I got in the cockpit, and then came out of the dogfight with 8 kills, no deaths (they did respawn you if you died, so the no deaths thing is actually relevant)...which IRL would have made me instantly qualify as an 'ace', since that status is granted after 5 kills; and 3 of those kills were with guns, rather than missiles; and in modern dogfighting, gun kills are nearly unheard of.

I climb out of the cockpit, and some of the owners pull me aside to talk to me, start asking where I learned to fly. "Video games" I deadpan, and tell them I've been playing simulators at home since I was 6 or 7. They look at each other and ask if I ever thought about joining the service. "Only every day of my life" I say. They ask how old I am, and I tell them I'm 19. They ask why the hell I'm not in basic training then, and since I was wearing my contacts instead of my glasses that day, i just point to my eyes and say the military would never take me, I'm near legally blind without lenses. They just kind of look at each other and say "Well that's a damn shame, kid. You are without doubt one of the best civvies to come through here, and the ONLY one who did that well and slept through the briefing. Honestly we were kind of laughing at you among ourselves, 'look at this kid, thinks they're hot shit, can't wait to see them get wrecked'. Damn if you didn't prove us wrong.'

So yeah, having my skills be validated by the literal pro's and being told that if it weren't for my eyes I would have actually made a good pilot, and was really good at something I was super passionate about, was pretty awesome. As an aside, now you all also know why Barnstormer is my OC :P

I'm calling it now, this is gonna be an even bigger hot mess than TLJ. There is just....SO much wrong with this trailer. It's like Fuckboi Abrams got so high off his own "mystery box" bullshit he took all the criticism about this aspect of his style and took it to mean he should crank up the knob so far that it broke off.

The title gives me no confidence either, for a variety of reasons.

Why does that TIE fighter chasing her? Shoot

That laugh sounds like it coming from Snoke.

It's not. McDiarmid walked out on stage at the con at the end of the screening and told them to play the trailer again in character, so its confirmed Palpy is making a comeback somehow. Which is all kinds of WTF. I love McDiarmid and Palpy, but seriously...what the actual *fuck*??

(Also if you seriously thought that was anyone BUT Palpatine laughing.....you need to turn in your credentials as a SW fan.)
