  1. I must say that this show is really bad at doing lessons about humility or bringing someone down to earth. The episodes centered around this always end up being very vindictive and end up confusing revenge and mean spirited with humility. The sooner the writers stop doing this, the better it will be for all of us.

  2. Sparklefan is a fan of Twilight Sparkle? Who would have guessed? Anyway, Twilight is my favorite princess as well. In fact, she is my second favorite character of the whole show behind Rarity, who unfortunately isn't a princess.
  3. I see a small zeppelin flying around in the top right area. That could have something to do with that upcoming episode. I am starting to think that too. In S1 I thought it was a country. Then I thought of it as a continent. Now it's looking like a whole planet is a possibility.
  4. You're Thunder Gust on the Equestria Daily Forums, right?

Is that what that is? I thought it was a fruit jam or something. :P

Yup. My family makes salsa every year and that was our first batch. It's a small batch to be sure, but it was the first and marked the beginning of what's looking to be our best salsa season yet. post-25189-0-33094200-1412626540.png

Good to hear that you are having a good salsa year. :)

  5. What are some of your favourite movies if you don't mind me asking?

I actually haven't seen any of those movies except for The Matrix, which I thought was decent enough.

Can i assume that Force Awakens is better than the prequels? :P

My favorite movies ever would have to be: Rushmore, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Goodfellas, The Big Lebowski. Have you seen any of those?

No. (And never heard of Rushmore.)

Honestly, I haven't seen the prequels in about ten years but I still know they suck. XD

Rushmore is a film by director Wes Anderson. Anderson directed that Fantastic Mr Fox movie that came out in 2009. Fantastic Mr Fox is a must see for fans of animation of any kind (it's stop motion).

Classical, eh? Very interesting and great pick there. :)

I love classical music myself. I don't listen to it often, but it is always satisfying when I do.

Actually, the motto that I put on my page is a lyric from the song Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder. However, my favorite Stevie song is Superstition. I am sure you have heard it before. It's a pretty famous song.

My favorite Redding song is My Girl.

Thanks. I play the piano a lot, so I guess that's one reason why.

Good picks! There's always a nice touch to R&B soul, jazz, and gospel music. Superstition is very memorable, yes.

I just remembered: My favorite soul singer is Diana Ross. She sung "If We Hold On Together," one of my favorite soul songs.

Thank you, ChB. You have great music taste as well. Also, playing the piano is an incredible skill. :)

Diana Ross was also part of an amazing soul vocal group in the 60s called The Supremes. They had many incredible songs throughout that decade. My favorites are: Baby Love, You Can't Hurry Love, Stop in the Name of Love, and Where Did Our Love Go.

  7. Oh, silly me. I just realized that you are still naming things that you like in episodes that you don't like. My bad. I just assumed that you had named them all.
  8. I do definitely like the CMC in general, but even I got a bit tired of that whole "we got to find our cutie marks" thing. CotLM was a sigh of relief for me. What about Castle Sweet Castle? Love that episode btw
  9. As a primary Equestria Daily Forums user, I must say that MLPF is quite the overwhelming experience. I'm sure it's a very nice forum and all but it's just so...big! XD

Once you stick around long enough, you get used to its size. ;)

  10. Hmm. I suppose they can be seen as annoying. Is that what you are getting at perhaps? Btw, thank you for the follow. Really appreciate that
  11. Aw. You didn't like Twilight Time? How come if you don't mind me asking?
  12. Shrug

Well well well. If it isn't Kenny himself. :)

  13. So, you found an episode to dethrone The Best Night Ever, eh? Well, I would definitely agree. Honestly, I think you could make an argument that Amending Fences is better than TBNE as well.

  14. Shrug

    Hey, meme :)

  15. There are too many to count, so I'll just name some that come to mind first. This is in no order. Spike at Your Service: There is actually some funny dialogue in this episode, some good character interactions. TMMDW: the moral taken on its own is good. Unfortunately, it is handled so terribly that it barely matters. Flutter Brutter: Fluttershy No Second Prances: The relationship between Trixie and Starlight felt really natural and was well done. OWTEW: the beginning scene where they watch shooting stars. Bridal Gossip: The practical jokes that the poison joke played on the mane 6. Rainbow Falls: Derpy One Bad Apple: The song is really catchy and fun. Dragon Quest: Spike is characterized pretty well. Hard to Say Anything: Big Mac getting Sugar at the end PYHD: Iron Will was kind of funny. I don't know if I'd call him a good character, though. Princess Spike: The deligates help Spike rebuild the statue. 28PL: the animation was really great here. Especially during the zombie part. Like I said, there are many more bad episodes that I could mention positives for, but these are the ones that stood out to me as positives that stop these from being completely unwatchable. They are also just the first that came to my head. I am definitely forgetting some.
  16. I would have to agree with the general consensus here. I do think that HtSA is the worst of S7. However, the weird thing about this episode is that the MLPFORUMS seems to be the only place where it is getting panned. Everyone else seems to like it. That said, I still hate this piece of crap. The comedy is all either creepy, forced or stupid. The characters (including BM) are all incredibly stupid and out of character. Feather Bangs is one of the worst characters of the franchise. If that isn't bad enough, his entire character is just a dated pop culture joke. Hey, DHX! 2009 called! They want their joke back! The crush is poorly developed and there is very little chemistry between BM and Sugar. The moral is pedestrian and really obvious. This episode deserves the hate it gets, but not the worst of the series. I could think of about 15 episodes worse than this.
  17. Unbreakable, the movie directed by M Night Shamalan. It's one of his few good movies.
  18. Hmm. As great as Discordant Harmony is, did you find the pacing to be pretty slow? The plot seems pretty thin.

    1. Dark Qiviut

      Dark Qiviut

The pacing was the only issue I saw. It could've been ironed out a little better.

    2. Shrug

      Shrug

Like I said, not enough of a problem to hold it back from being great. Discord's antics are just too entertaining for the pace to be too big of an issue. Best episode from the Fox Brothers EASILY.

  19. Thank you for the follow! :)

  21. Whould have to go with Spike. After s5, I would be pretty hesitant to say that because of a lot of terrible appearances up to that point. S6 on the other hand, really felt like the writers were putting more effort into making him more consistent. GoF and TTTAaC demonstrated his best developments to date.
  22. I was pretty much misty eyed the whole episode, but the moment that really got me was at the end where the three kids confront Grand Pear about why he really returned to Ponyville. Think about it. He returned to get to know his his grand kids better because he is NEVER going to get a chance to fully get rid of the guilt. Why? Pear Butter is dead. He will never be able to apologize to her or make amends. It is imo, the most tragic moment of the whole show.
  23. "This is an issue even the Grinch would reject." XD

Great review! I don't plan on reading that anytime soon (EgG Holiday Special). In fact, I haven't really read much of the comics at all. The only two arcs I've read are Manehattan Mystery and Neigh Anything. I really enjoyed both of those. Which are the ones to stay away from?

    1. Dark Qiviut

      Dark Qiviut

      To stay away:

      For the Main Series:

      • The Good, The Bad, and The Ponies (#25/26)
      • The Root of the Problem (#27/28)
      • Siege of the Crystal Empire (#34/37)
      • FIM #40

      For reasons why:

      1. T3: Twilight being very OOC, lazy writing, the story suggesting that the aggressors get more protection than the victims, the Mane Six acting like (and failing at being) criminals to outwit Longhorn, and not understanding how to write a proper parody of Westerns
      2. Root: King Aspen (the protagonist) being a complete straw character, the message of peogress and environmentalism being poorly written, poor worldbuilding of the Everfree Forest.
      3. Siege: Tries to do too much in one basket, thrusts in secondary antagonists while writing them out of character and not having any impact in the final 1.5 issues, Radiant Hope being dumb/a Mary Sue/remorseless for her criminality at any point, rushing a major plot through.
      4. Poor characterization of Celestia, for the most part.

      Micro-Series:

      • Twilight: Poorly-drawn colorization of the artwork. Tries to replicate the show and fails massively.
      • Rainbow Dash: Brony pandering, lousy characterization of Rainbow Dash, a plot that makes no sense, pop culture references that make no sense, and terrible dialogue.
      • Fluttershy: A plot that was poorly explained, lack of attention to continuity, the antagonist being a straw character, and the moral suggesting that criticism should be ignored.
      • Applejack: Follows the clichéd "AJ is too stubborn" formula to a "T," AJ sings in the comic, and the plot is mostly pointless.
  24. @AlexanderThrond I guess it comes down to whether you find an episode worse for being dull and giving you no emotions or worse for making you angry. But, if I am being honest, the former argument is one that I REALLY don't understand. If an episode is boring, then you watch it and you forget about it. It's 22 minutes of your life wasted with a boring episode, but that's it. If you are angry at an episode, then that is far far worse, imo. To your point, it sticks with you and ruins your day. This is a show that you really enjoy and if an episode comes along and makes you angry, then it's also disappointing because you know it can do better than this. I would rather be bored than be forced to head to my medicine cabinet for something to aid the headache that the episode gave me. Also, I wonder how those people feel about an episode like Appaloosa's Most Wanted. Not only is it really slow and boring, but it also has an abysmal ending that makes many people (including me) pretty angry.
  25. Have you seen the three new EqG episodes? If so, what did you think?

I wouldn't recommend LoE at all. It makes Filthy Rich a scummy business man for no reason. Rarity is flanderized and obnoxious. The pace is shit. The romance is forced and cringeworthy. Should I go on?
