Absolutely adored this episode. Even though this was basically Fluttershy's episode, it's great that all six got their times to shine. Those are some of my favourite types of episodes. Fluttershy's heroic moment was amazing!

'But that Rainbow one kicked me!'

It definitely was a gem of an episode that allowed Fluttershy to begin to grow as a character.

  2. This was one of the more entertaining episodes of season 1. From the scene with Rarity's over the top whining, to spike's over the top reactions, this episode was full of early series fun. Just wish they would have brought back the Diamond Dogs for one more episode.

This was the episode that made me decide to watch every single one (after "The Ticket Master" really got me interested). :D The highlight for me was the baking sequence – sleep-deprived Applejack was hilarious! :ButtercupLaugh:

Sleep deprived concussed Applejack (after she banged her head on that branch)

The baking bit was the bit that got me as well. Especially when Pinkie talks in slow-mo. 'Chocolate chips!:mlp_ooh:

The first time I watched this episode, the list of stuff AJ put into the mix made me giggle heavily.

They were only learning so it's bound to be rough around the edges. And it gave us this face... :mlp_pinkie:

Also, who screams 'QUIET' better? Twilight or Starlight?

'And then I said 'Oatmeal, are you craz'... Oh.'

That quote always makes me giggle, and it was no exception this time around.

"The drawback is the extreme persistence of each pony vying for the second Gala ticket"

Well that was the lesson of the episode XD so can't really be a drawback.

    "filler"

I always found filler to be a strange word to use in a slice of life show like FIM. None of the episodes feel like filler to me as they all have a lesson in the end that makes the character grow and even though there might be over arching plot, it was never the focus in mlp really.

I know that was the point of the episode, but they were written in such a way that looking back irritates me.
As for the 'filler', what I deem filler is anything that just seems like could have been accomplished in a more concise way, like this particular episode. This one was basically filled with the 5 vying for those tickets, and that's padding for time pure and simple. That's why it felt more fillerish to me, and why I mentioned it. It could have been done in a more concise manner.

If your ponysona had a cutie mark, what would it be and what would it symbolize?

Bonus points if you can make up a good story about getting it.

My ponysona does have a cutie mark, which is a tri colored lightning strike extended from a cloud, where the colors of the lightning are three shades of blue. The different shades of blue symbolize the colors of blue that ice sometimes give off. It symbolizes that he can create heavy snows when needed by using his wings and smarts.

He was just out of Flight school and was going through an entrance exam for the Equestrian Weather Academy where he would learn the trade of making weather as a pegasi, as his parents and grandparents had done before him. The final part of the test was to conger up snowflakes in the classroom. Well... he used his limited magic (which he gets from his mom's side and uses a family amulet to use) and his knowledge of weather to create a blizzard with lightning that filled the entire school building. Needless to say, he got his cutie mark and enrolled in the school. (most of this is noncanon to him, but the magic thing is not)

    Hi!

What can you tell me about your fursona?

My fursona is an Adelie penguin, anthro with a rather rotund frame, a brown tuft of feathers on top of his head and brown eyes. He has a scar on his left flipper/arm and another scar just below his beak. He's known to wear various graphic tees with his favorite bands and weather related things.

For my ponysona: He's a moderate blue pegasus with a brown mane and tail and green eyes. He has black bare bare hooves. He also wars a bright blue neckerchief.

I enjoyed this a lot more, it was just fun. :yay: Maybe a little like the older episodes at times (except for the characters involved, of course)...

The start of the episode wasn't the most interesting, but it got better later on. Maud and Mudbriar stole the show, though (I felt they did a better job with Mudbriar's portrayal than in his first appearance)! :D

It was a bit too overbooked, because you had the 6, plus Silver, the nice cockatrice, all the rest of the cockatrices, and those are a whole lot of moving parts for one episode.

I tell ya, it's the MLP equivelent of ShAmy.

I loved "Frenemies"! :pinkie: One of the highlights of season 9 so far. The chemistry between the three villains is truly something!

"Sweet and Smoky" was a nice episode too, though not as good as its predecessor. As for cute moments, my favorite was this one. ^_^

The chemestry between the three is undenyable. They are so evil, yet they play off eachother well. I actually enjoyed Sweet and Smoky a bit more than Frenemies. I liked the swerve with Smolder's character and the softer side of Garble.

I agree with you on this one, I'd rate it about an 8.75 out of 10. :) Not an all-time great, but still a very good episode – I'd rank it slightly lower than episode 4, but higher than episode 3.

Nice to see Spike get a second great role in a row, kind of playing the voice of reason here. :mustache: I also liked to see Moon Dancer again! :mlp_yay:

Yeah. Moondancer is such a good character. Wish she was used more.

I agree, an even better start to the season than I expected! :D I'm glad to see you liked it as much as I did, it easily got the highest grade from me too. :) Even with the high ratings I give, a 10 out of 10 isn't that common, so they did an awesome job! B)

It's obvious this won't be the last time we see the villains... I loved the chemistry between them, so I'm looking forward to whatever we get next. :P All of the mane cast were also great, I also felt Pinkie had her best portrayal in a while. :pinkie:

Somehow the comment I was going to post at first grew into a full review, something I didn't expect to write again. :adorkable:

I've got a feeling, just a gut feeling, that sombra will be back by the end of the season. In what way, I'm not sure.

Stay safe, my friend! :kindness: I hope the storm goes away soon and doesn't cause more damage!

Storm was gone 40 past 5. It was a quick hitting tornado.

I agree completely! :D "Sounds of Silence" was brilliant, the last one in a streak of five simply amazing episodes. Autumn Blaze is adorable, and the song was the best of the whole season! :pinkie: As for "Father Knows Beast", I found it a mediocre one, though I liked the scenes with Smolder – the development of her character, as well as her chemistry with Spike were the clear highlight of the episode for me.

I'll agree that Autumn's song was the best of the season. It's good seeing so many countries mythologies ending up in the show.

Father knows Best was the worst episode of the second half, but I do agree that I loved the development of Smolder's Character and her relationship with Spike.

I loved this episode – one of my favorites in season 8! :D This episode did a lot to build the characters of the Student 6, who I think are great characters (and I hope to see more of them in season 9)! An amazing mixture of emotional moments and some humor. And Cozy Glow is also one of my favorite characters! :)

Hands down one of the best of the season. Lots of character development, interesting twists.
