When you think about how woeful the Nats were this season, it's shocking that they not only came back to make it to .500, but make the playoffs, much less the World Series. Davey Martinez (a fantastic bench coach under Joe Maddon) was close to losing his job. The clubhouse sounded awful.
Let's take a look at the history they made with this run.
- Only the seventh team to win a best-of-7 when not trailing (last the 2015 Mets over Cubs)
-
Now one of four teams in Fall Classic after being 12 or more games under .500 (19-31 for them, only the Marlins were worse in the NL). The other three:
- 2005 Astros (16-31)
- 1973 Mets (53-66)
- 1914 Boston Braves (12-28)
- Bullpen once had a 7.02 ERA. Since then, they posted a 5.07 ERA, still awful, but a major improvement.
-
Gerardo Parra joined the club, transformed the culture, and they now have a world of fun. (Doo-do-doo-do-doo Baby Shark.
)
- After the Nats seemingly lost the NL East, the team was the underdog after being the favorites for the last several seasons. This team plays loose and like they have nothing to lose.
- They're only the second team to make the World Series after never leading the division at any point, the 2003 Marlins the other.
- Since the second Wild Card was added, they only the third WC team to win the pennant (the Giants and Royals faced each other five years ago).
-
With their backs against the door, they come up with clutch play after clutch play.
- Nats down 3-0 after Scherzer struggles through 5 innings? Strasburg throws 3 shutout innings.
-
With four outs left in their season, the Nats rally, and Juan Soto rips a three-run single that drove their fans crazy.
- Nats survive the top of the 9th, advancing for the first time since moving to Washington.
- Massive underdogs against the Dodgers, losing Games 1 and 3, and then down to their last six outs with Kershaw on the mound? No biggie. Just a homer here, a homer there to tie it, and then some journeyman named Howie Kendrick with the biggest hit in franchise history!
- Oh, yeah, and the Nats win a series!
- Against the Cards and seemingly exhausted? Pressure? Nah! Just throw almost fifteen no-hit innings in St. Louis and then come within one win from their first Fall Classic.
- Bases loaded, two out, and Matt Carpenter (who has a career BA of around .450 with the bags packed). Power against power, Carpenter grounded out to Dozier, and then an uneventful ninth!
I'm really happy for this squad!

Who wants hugs from the beautiful Tempest?

*Looks at forum banner*
I just noticed that the pink MLP Forums logo is covering up the banners original logo.
Why is that?

What do we talk about now?

I’m still at work and I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve listened to the final song. Each time I almost lose it.

MAN, what a year it has been!!! ^^
It's not even over and it's ALREADY one of THE best years I've EVER had
Porsche (which is one of my favourite brands in GT3) WON the Spa 24 Hours, Banjo is in Smash, had an awesome birthday party with my parents and relatives (on Friday The 13th)
, my favourite rugby team (the roosters) WON the grand final, Mah Boi WON the Bathurst 1000 AND he's got a comfortable lead in the championship, I got a Nintendo Switch Lite AND I'll be getting a Galarian Ponyta when Pokemon Shield comes out. Can this year get any better!?

So after the Finale, the G4 is officially over. That also ends an era of the Bronies (and Pegasisters).
So what happens now? I have concluded that it is impossible to ever become a brony now. Any new person, no matter gender, age, etc, that discovers mlp FIM after the Finale has ended, cannot become a brony.
We are therefore a dying breed, endangered. Only if two bronies (or two pegesisters) have a baby, that passes on the brony (pegasister) to the next generation...?
(lol)

When are the admins going to surprise everyone by shutting down MLP Forums as a final tribute to the show ending?
Jk

Alright, let's be honest here. Who else teared up?

Do you think the ponies in Canterlot have good life insurance?

So... is it safe to talk about the finale yet? 'Cause god damn! That was some finale! Dare I say it was the perfect end to the show as a whole.
Little confession here, I kinda cheated and watched the final 3 episodes a few days ago, was bored outta my mind and decided to watch 'em before I got spoiled.

SPOILERS
SpoilerWas honestly the perfect blend of climactic and emotional in my opinion, but still retained it's charm even to the end. That whole final sequence in the last episode was the most moving thing I've ever seen in the show. Seeing the mane 6 and Spike so old compared to how we've always known them, that final song commemorating the entirety of the show... and that damn final shot of the book closing... it was all a swift kick to the feels.

I'm glad that the show went out on a high note and got the ending it deserved.

While the show might be finished, we're all still here, the community as a whole is still here, and we've got ourselves a damn good show under our belts.

Anyway, how's the day been treating you, lads? What did you guys think of the finale?

THe finale was something wasn't it? Anyway, I'll be taking a week or two off from reviewing mlp before I embark on reviewing the first three seasons. My MLP reviews began with the season 4 premiere and my reviews were posted over on dA if you ever wanna give those a read. As for the upcoming season 10 in the comics, you can bet I'll be reviewing that as well. FiM Forever!

It's over. IT'S OVER. Wow. No more G4, all 222 episodes have aired. My life was completely different when I started watching this show back in '15. I'm so glad we came so far :') it's gonna take me a while to process this
