Yeah, neither do I. It's typically best to err on the side of overcrediting when you're not sure whether the owner wants it credited or if the posting destination wants it credited.
At least, it has in my experience.

It's why people can't profit off of drawing to the shows art style. Fair use is still in play though.

In a nutshell, if someone else created it, don't steal it and claim it as your own work or try to profit off of it.
