It really isn't though. There are entire countries of people who disapprove of things because it contradicts what the Holy Book says or something (mostly around scientific facts) - just because a LOT of people are wrong about something, doesn't mean they are somehow right.

Right. But still,it can get annoying. Wiiguy feeling it, and I'm starting to feel it, too.

Oh yeah, it's annoying. Especially when its something that can't be anything BUT an opinion, because there is no absolute truth either way - but no matter what it is (even if it is dedicating your life to saving fluffy kittens from death) there will be someone who will hate on you for it.   It is enough to learn that their opinions are of no value, not because they are necessarily wrong, but because they have no right to try and force anyone else to think like them (and usually, the most vocal groups are insecure and unsure of themselves, or they wouldn't be trying to force other people to agree)

      On the other hoof...

People like to be among people who agree with them; that is why "fake news" will never be solved, because people will forward and trust things that match their preconceptions and prejudices, but demand undeniable, cast iron proof for anything that would require them to change their opinions (and even then, won't really believe it)

In infosec, we call that "the echo chamber" and it is a force beyond measure. But that cuts both ways - you can seek out people who you DO agree with, and prefer their company; in the case of Pony, that is going to be people who believe in the values the show promotes, so will be generally nicer people than those neighsayers anyhow. Ok, you aren't solving the problem, but at least you can get a sympathetic ear and be told that those other people are clearly wrong because we are clearly right :D

(and as an aside, S6E12 is pretty much this)
