I think I sorta noticed that several video games follow "you are the chosen one routine". The protagonist also ends up doing majority of the work and even if they requests for the back up to help them out this back up would just end up as a cannon fodder and your protagonist most likely to be the only one who would live through the battle.

Companions are near immortal and just continue going after they get knocked out.

The NPCs would spray at the protagonist an unlimited amount of ammunition, and yet your protagonist would be forced to scavenge hard to find bullet's or buy them from traders.
