  1. Nothing uncivil at all? but telling how you associate people talking about something in a certain way with a section of the forum that no longer exists
  2. I think what you're really saying is that you've given up. Which you're free to do, but at least own up to it. You can't control human nature. There really wasn't anything worse or more unusual about your debate section than anywhere else online. In fact, more often, it was better. Give up on something, you'll lose a few users, whatever. It's a shame, it's not a good thing. You guys can celebrate, I guess? I wouldn't celebrate losing something. Another thing, if those people are the type of people to generally agree with anything you do, or are totally ambivalent, those aren't the opinions you should pay attention to. If people have a strong response, about a forum of all things, those are the opinions you should look at closer.
  3. Sounds to me like you have a chip on your shoulder. Like maybe you went there once, had a disagreement, and didn't like that. People don't like being challenged, some people feel bad about it. Maybe that's where you are. I don't know what you expected, were you hoping that people would just come to common agreements, and no one would ever be upset at each other? God forbit people disagree, right? let's shut down discussion and debate. Let's give up because we don't agree. Shame on you. You did not "nail it" this is not something to be proud of, or to pat yourself on the back for.
  4. And you know this how? isn't it the job of moderators to moderate? what, it's too much work to bother with? That sounds more like an opinion than a fact to me. How often did you actually use the debate forum? "senseless bickering" isn't a good summary of it to me. Yes, sometimes people disagree, and in that disagreement become emotional. People get emotional when it involves something important to them. You can just say why even bother defending it, it's just a forum, it doesn't matter. I benefitted from discussions I had with other people, and other people did as well, even if there was some emotion involved at times. Us talking about this right now is fully in the spirit of having a disagreement and being able to have a back and forth. People don't need to come to mutual agreement to have productive conversations, that's not the point of debate. Rather, you can sharpen your own opinions, or have them changed. You can learn. Plenty of times I thought about just finding a different forum, plenty. But I was comfortable here, because at least we had the debate section, where at the very least if we didn't want to spend time online having vapid conversations about nothing I knew I'd possibly learn something or show someone my point of view. That's a valuable thing to have. If the staff here just say to themselves, "this is a pony forum. We only want friendly discussions about ponies, or safe, family friendly conversations" that's their prerogative. I probably wouldn't even bother with this if it hadn't have had a personal impact on me. I'm making an argument for this forum, not against it. It's like, if you want your place to be worse, if you want people to go away, whatever, it's just a forum right? but something of real value would have been lost, that's all.
  5. If you want to go down that road you could easily just say you don't need most of the other forums on here either. That's a bad argument. But yes, people will go elsewhere, although I can't see why you'd want to push people away from your own place and say they can just go to better places. You know what really makes "zero sense"? tossing a good thing you had for nothing at all, just having something beneficial, and making your place worse by arbitrarily getting rid of it.
  6. WOW. really people? this is actually sickening. The one place people can have important conversations about actually important things and you get rid of it? why? because you don't like people disagreeing? or getting mad at each other? there's literally not one good reason to do this. People need to have access to other's opinions, so we can revise our own, and grow as people. I'm not the only one who benefitted from it. For real, rethink this. You're doing everyone a disservice.
  7. Did they get rid of the debate forum? I almost can't imagine doing something so stupid. Maybe it's just moved
  8. I do as well. I forgot to mention I love Handel as well! Messiah, Sarabande, Zadok etc.
  9. M83 and Jean-luc Godard are from france and I love them- Ben Bocquelet too, gumball is like my favorite cartoon. Tons of people I adore living or dead- Rimbaud, and Charles Baudelaire. France is also home to some of the greatest architectural achievements of mankind, Versailles of course, the louvre etc. Yeah nothing but love for france. BUT your language is a pain to learn (at least pronunciation) too many silent letters.
  10. Yeah it's pretty awesome. If you're not, you're missing out. No easy way around it
  11. I like pineapple and mushroom/black olive
  12. When I was 13 and exploring my sexuality my mom went through my private messages online, gave me a lecture, and took away my computer access. Very hurtful and embarrassing for me. I can forgive I suppose, but not forget. Kids need some level of privacy when they're finding out who they are
  13. Constantly. Just a steady stream of negative, frightening thoughts. I have something of a drug addiction just to keep the thoughts at bay. Better than being without a limb though. Kind of ironic I study psychology
  14. I would have loved to see gay characters in shows when I was a kid. There are shows that have a hint of gayness, like gumball. I'm certain that with time, it will be much more open and prevalent. You don't have to replace straight relationships with gay ones, just have them exist. Hopefully not always in the far background, such as it is atm. The fact that gay people exist shouldn't be "controversial"
  15. weird logic or logic different from yours? Probably better to give someone the benefit of the doubt than assume they're insane. Not to say that people don't bs though
  16. Does it really make zero sense or does it just sound like it does?
  17. He's more meme now than movie unless they give star wars to genuinely talented and creative people to work on, I can see it dying, losing it's profitability. Or else what are they going to do? keep making rogue one type movies forever? btw disney, girls don't really like star wars, boys do. Maybe you should try playing to your base instead of insulting and neglecting them??
  18. This is one of those shows where I watched the pilot and at the end thought to myself, ah, that was ok! and never watched it again.
  19. Sick. Like I want to cover my ears and protect myself. It's very aggressive on the ears, maybe the only "music" scientifically engineered to annoy the listener
  20. This is interesting. Very interesting. Having an overwatch and minecraft character would make this the first smash game with characters from series made outside of japan wouldn't it? it's definitely new. I guess it must be an attempt to increase interest and get people back into the game, but I don't see it as a bad thing. It sets a new precedent, for the future of this franchise.
  21. I'm assuming most people know what I mean. People who blast their music (usually rap) from their cars, or carry stereos, or have their phones playing it without headphones. etc. what's the point? just to be an annoying tool? do they assume you'll think it's great too? I will admit though, if it was music I personally liked, I probably wouldn't be as upset. When it's music I don't like, I feel like someone's intruding on my space, I get pretty uncomfortable.
