  1. "Lower sails and drop anchor!" Virgil commanded, his crew rushing to do his bidding. They were around a mile out from shore, but there was no way he would risk bringing her in closer to shore. He and Syren would head to shore and look for the source of the transmission, leaving Joss, their head scout, in control of the crew. She'd take care of them. Syren and Virgil headed over towards the landing boat, helping to lower it to the water below. A ladder was lowered and the two stallions climbed down into the boat, releasing it from the ties which held it to the ship. Virgil took to the paddles, his back to shore, trusting Syren and his tech to keep an eye out for any threats. The way remained clear, however, and they beached the boat safely. They scanned the shoreline around them, taking in the ruined docks rotting around them and the capsized boats from centuries past. It was eerie and quiet, setting the two friends on edge. Subconsciously, Virgil adjusted his cutlass scabbards, aching to draw them simply for the familiar weight and the safety they offered. "C'mon, there's gotta be a path up to the city," Virgil said, heading off in search of it. Syren followed, his eyes constantly roving behind his goggles, tracking the transmission and searching for hidden dangers.
  2. I actually have rped with him before. Yeah, his character's pretty OP, and he at least tries to make his character an average character, but I agree that his being an alicorn doesn't make him fit in this rp

    Syren

Name: Syren Age: 19 Gender: Stallion Species: Unicorn Description: At average height, Syren is only slightly taller than his best friend and captain, Virgil. Although, through most of their lives, Syren had been the smaller. His tail seems to be permanently ruffled, no matter what he does. Not that he ever seems to really worry about helping it. The heart tattoo is the result of a very long night of drinking. Virgil has said that he tried to talk Syren out of it, but he's pretty sure his captain only encouraged it. The goggles are an invention of his that combine tech and magic to pick up anything from transmission signals to heat signatures and everything in between. That said, they have a tendency to crap out every now and again. He's sure there's a short somewhere, but for the life of him, he can't find it. His cutie mark is kind of cliche, but he's grown to accept it. Personality: Carson is very level headed, especially in stressful situations. That said, he is in no way a very serious pony. He loves to make fun of his enemies, though it does serve tactical purposes as well. He's very loyal and dependable. He does what he says he will, no matter what it costs him. He always puts others first, whether it's his crewmates or civilians or his family. He always has an open mind, willing to hear a pony out before making any sort of decision. Backstory: Yet another result of the kind nature of Sergio the Soulless, Syren was well taken care of after the invasion. Both his parents survived, as his mother wasn't a fighter and his father was a cripple, having lost the use of his back legs in a logging accident that had nearly killed him back when Syren's mother was pregnant. Like the other foals of Puerto Seguro, he was taken under Sergio's wing which was how he met his lifelong friend and future captain, Virgil. During their training, the two colts were often partnered together, finding themselves spending a lot of time together. Their personalities may've been vastly different in some aspects, but that only seemed to strengthen their friendship. It wasn't long before the two became inseparable, becoming a familiar sight around the town, causing the occasional ruckus. These usually came about due to Syren's technological inventions, whether they be drones, radios, or a bunch of other machines perfect for causing some trouble. Obviously, when Virgil was given command of his own ship, he was going to place his best friend in the position of first mate. No pony else would've done. Syren's experience with technology was obviously another decisive factor, enabling The Ruthless Lass to quickly become one of the most advanced ships out on the seas.
  4. Nah, the rest'll be just minor characters, but the way I kinda picture it, Syren and Virgil have known each other a long time, so he's obviously gonna come with. I figured it would just be the two of them. Not my greatest work in terms of backstory, but here he is
  5. The Ruthless Lass rose on a swell, the coast of Equestria coming briefly into sight on the horizon, maybe a half league away. Virgil stood at the helm of his ship, listening to his first mate relaying the directions from their transmitter. Normally, they wouldn't bother following the signal. After all, every pirate out of Puerto Seguro knew better than to step a hoof on Equestrian soil. The first crew to do so nearly 200 years ago had been decimated, the only evidence of their plight being the transmitted message back to home. Since then, the news had quickly spread through the pirating community, making the message clear; if you valued your life and the lives of your crew, stay away from Equestria. Despite the likely danger, Virgil couldn't just ignore a distress signal. Especially one that managed to be transmitted to a pirate transmitter on a private network. Even if he'd wanted to, his crew wouldn't have stood for it. Not that Virgil would ever dream of doing so, though he did put it up to a vote with unanimous agreement. "Looks like the signal's coming from an old city called Manehatten," Syren, his first mate and tech guru, called. Virgil spared a glance over to the maroon unicorn stallion. "How far off?" he asked, turning his attention back to the helm. "At least 3 leagues," Syren answered. @CorvinoShould I make a form for Syren? I haven't officially done it yet, but I feel like he's gonna come up alot through this rp and I dunno if you have a character limit
  6. "I grew up there," Arctica confirmed. "I don't know what happened to my parents. Maybe they're still there. Who knows." She lapsed into silence, her thoughts falling on her missing parents. True, their relationship had never been perfect, but she still missed them.
  7. Arctica entered the bakery, a decent sized building dubbed The Tasty Corner. Cute. She stepped inside, finding herself at the back of a fairly short line. While she waited, she let her gaze drift over the shop, taking in all the kinds of baked goods on display. There were a lot of cakes, though she wasn't seeing any muffins. Crap, did this place only do sweet goods? Just when she was starting to fear that that was indeed the case, she caught sight of a small muffin display tucked away in a corner. Thank Celestia! It looked like they were pretty good too. Her stomach grumbled at the sight, reminding her of how hungry she was.
  8. Arctica accepted the wheelchair gratefully and saluted to Mist's orders. "You got it, boss." She hesitated a moment before continuing. "Hey, if you're going to Manehatten...could you maybe check up on my parent's old cafe? You don't have to, just a thought."
  9. Wait, is this just to start or is this the official schedule of posting? Because if so, that helps me immensely to keep up!
  10. I'm actually planning on going into Psychology, but this stuff is really interesting too
  11. Yeah, it was like 6 or 7 years later. I managed to figure out the others and write my paper over the weekend, but I still appreciate your help
  12. Arctica stood in the center of Ponyville undecided. She hadn't gotten anywhere with her questioning and she was starting to get hungry. She noticed a bakery and headed over, intent on getting a muffin.
  13. Arctica watched the action with a disinterested look on her face, more concerned on hiding her pain. "Well, this seems interesting, but I'm gonna go find something that's actually fun." She stepped away from her bed, limping with her cast as she looked around for a wheelchair. She was restless, not stupid.
  14. I'm cool with it the way it is, but I don't much mind if any more people join. My main concern is getting left behind because I'm always busy with school and homework
  15. No, no you're fine. Like I said, I don't understand this fully. Although, if you put it in the topic post, then I'm just an idiot and didn't see it, what else is new? XD But yeah, your idea makes more sense given the situation
  16. "Alright, just figured I'd offer," Arctica replied. She was actually kinda grateful he said no; she didn't have a clue on how to make capes. She probably would've ended up just injuring herself more. There were probably other things she could do around base that wouldn't embarrass her, like cleaning weapons in the armory.
  17. Oh, sorry for not understanding. Maybe he was in the middle of breaking out some of his crewmates when the megaspells hit? He wouldn't be able to get back to his ship or his home.
  18. Arctica nodded, understanding the full capability of this new equipment. "Alright. Well, I'm kinda grounded to base for now. Do you still need help making them?" True, she didn't have a lot of experience with any sort of fabric, but she was desperate for something to keep her distracted.
  19. I like it! Also, Virgil's backstory in is in his character page on my blog. You can click on the link in his name from earlier to see it
  20. "I'm fine," Arctica ground out past her pain. "How did it go with Zocora?" She leaned against her bed, trying her best to hide her pain, before answering Techno, "Won't that make it harder for us to move?"
  21. I'll go with Virgil then since he has the past of a pirate and doesn't really fit in with the whole 'happy go lucky' Equestria.
  22. I can change things for this rp, but either Virgil or Arctica would probably work best
  23. Name: Virgil Race: Earth Pony Gender: Male Age: 20 Appearance: Personality: Virgil is a master at hiding his feelings. Mostly he does it for others, whether to help them remain calm or to let them freak out. He tends to internalize everything and most people find it hard to read him. Despite all that, Virgil is a very warm and affectionate person. He's loyal and dependable, able to keep a level head even in the worst situations. He does what he says he will, no matter what it costs him. He always puts others first, whether it's his crew or his family, though to him they're one in the same. Consequentially, Virgil tends to take the blame for anything that goes wrong with things he's involved in, whether or not it was actually his fault. He always has an open mind when it comes to planning and is very much an 'out of the box' thinker. He's resourceful and inventive, whether it's with his sword, his gun, hoof to hoof, or just a simple trap. He'll use anything and everything. Specialty: Hoof-to-hoof Attachments for SPARK-L: Auto Side arm: Pistol Attachments for side arm: Extended mag Special weapon: A cutlass Other: He's a pirate captain, or at least was until the outbreak which stole his entire home of Puerto Seguro, including his mom, step-father, and siblings. Most of his crew has died, either killed or suicide.
