complex numbers are very easy to work with; nothing too hard really (they're kinda like vectors, but with much more fun stuff) if you know vectors it shouldn't be too hard

I understand vectors, but I don't know the math symbols. A programmer never use symbols. So that's why complex numbers never get through to me. Same with matrices, I have used them in programming to a point where they are actually quite useful, BUT seeing any equation and I understand nothing.

The symbols? What do you mean? There is "j" (or i, whatever you prefer), addition, substraction...  We're not asking you to solve Riemann's hypothesis
