I switched to the Pale Moon browser because Firefox recently became a bloated mess
I love that it's so lightweight, while supporting everything (including even really bloated websites like Twitter) and also looking kinda retro- Show previous comments 5 more

@Rikifive yeah unfortunately,
but yet I've found that firefox based browsers are a bit better at loading webpages than chromium (especially compared to how much RAM they use lmao)yeah i stopped using firefox the moment that google started to advertise chrome away back in around 2009 because I seen potential in it, it looked like the future, but then I started to have issues with it (having a budget laptop in 2016 which was about as powerful as a pentium 4) so i switched to opera, then i switched to legacy edge when I got my first windows 10 device in 2018, then switched to firefox in late 2020 and then have now moved to Pale moon because it's so much lighter while still running all the websites that I need (even annoying ones like MLP forums which need the absolute latest version to format properly)
-
Yeah, Chromium based browsers do eat lots of RAM, same goes for Edge now. Opera was also very lightweight, hence why I've been using it after Firefox. I don't remember exactly, but I think Chrome wasn't the best for my XP machine back then, so been trying to use others. What I'm sure of is that I've been using Chrome when I got a new PC running W7, like 10 years ago or so.
This is the first time I hear about Pale Moon, had no idea such browser existed. Personally I wonder how good Opera GX actually is. I've heard it's a decent browser. If I was to abandon Chrome, I probably would give Opera GX a try.
-
@Rikifive yeah that's very true, and for me i don't want to be fighting with my web browser to load more than 5 tabs on a pc that which i can even game decently well on
yeah I used opera briefly because that way i could run more than 1 tab on my cheap shitty celeron laptop
oh i see that's fair enough
oh really? i mean it's got a fairly small user base
I like that it's basically just cut down firefox and that it looks pretty retroyeah I've heard Opera GX is pretty good, but i honestly would rather something that didn't need to be told to not eat all my ram, so it's probably not for me lol

@Millennium Shadow banks and governments it's like a "well it's just basic office stuff, what's the need" and hospitals can't update cause their equipment has old drivers

- Show previous comments 7 more
-
@Samurai Equine I'm not sure
I mean it's in England and most places there are cheaper than Glasgow, beside the entire south east, and Manchester is about the same, but haven't been to Scarborough so can't say heh
-
@The Spitfire Simp I think what you meant to say is "What the hay?! How does an American know about Scarborough?! He's so cool that he knows about these places~!"
LOL. But in all seriousness, thanks for answering my question. Hope things work out for you.
-
@Samurai Equine hahahaha fair as well lol
No problem, and the cost of living in Glasgow is similar to inbetween Atlanta and Miami
Thanks, I had taken a day trip to Edinburgh cause was bored lol and noticed how expensive everything was lol, don't plan to move (though I need to spend more time there soon since the gender clinic I plan to use is there)

My phone struggles to charge ):<
I hope that my phone holds on until my 18th birthday, when I can get a credit agreement on a new phone (i can't afford one outright rn)
hopefully the new iPhone SE comes out that's the same as the iPhone 13 on the inside (since it will let me either not need to upgrade or be able to reasonably give it to someone lol),
but that's just cause I want to make sure a £400+ phone will be as up to date as possible since I'd be paying a lot on it for up to 2 years- Show previous comments 1 more
-
@Samurai Equine yeah,
I don't want to use my brother's old phone cause it's too small -
@Petrograd Capital
thats the current model, that I cant justify cause its only 5k₽ more to get the iPhone 11, which has Face ID, better color options, and works with airtagsThere's a roumer that theres going to be a new SE out this year, so i'm waiting for that (need to be 18 to get a credit agreement anyway lol), if it has the ability to work will all the features of the airtags then its going to be my new phone, if not then just the iPhone 11, since its still good, just wanted something a little newer cause they cost like 40000₽ here

how do you know you've plugged in an american plug in correctly?
like it doesn't seem to stop you puting it in wrong- Show previous comments 3 more
-
@The Spitfire Simp It's true some outlet plugs are the same size on both prongs. From what I've seen, it doesn't matter which way you plug it in. At that point, it's universal. I've never had any problems plugging them in one way or the other.
There have even been situations where I plugged something with two-prongs in the wrong way, and it was still fine. So maybe the different prong sizes (and the different sized outlet holes) are just for people who are use to plugs fitting in an exact or specific way. The only time it matters is when it has that third prong.
But don't take my word for it. I'm not an electrician. And phone chargers are an even more complicated thing.
-
@Samurai Equineoh i see
i guess it must have been confusing to me cause here in the UK we have a rigid standard -
Rereading some(nema), there is not supposed to be any "universal" way(or highly discouraged), but those that are, are supposed to be made to work, without issue, either way, and it's not like the "great factory of the east" really cares about standards anyways.
Polarized (one big one smaller) are for larger loads or where "hot" and "neutral" matter, the bigger is the neutral, smaller hot side. Neutral is usually tied to ground too.
The grounded plugs are supposed to be polarized too(so you can't pull the ground pin and use it the other way) and are "being encouraged for wider use".
The only thing dangerous is those "safety outlets" where you about break or bend the prongs trying to plug it in. Good idea, horrible execution, to the point of where people actively avoid using them, even though it is code in some areas.
Its somewhat...amusing isn't the right word, to see European reactions and comments on the NEMA standards in use in North America.

so...
the gender clinic I was trying to get on the waiting list for, has a waiting list to even get onto the waiting list as they have stopped the waiting list after 3 month wait I believeMight try to get on the waiting list for one of them in London but that would require me being in London, and would require having to book a hotel and pay for like £200 train journeys
I hope I'm able to get a session soon so I can start transitioning

bought a bunch of new clothes on AliExpress
now to wait 4 weeks for a bunch of cheap clothes lol
(like joggies cost like 35€ here usually and tops usually cost more than 20€ for worse quality, so that explains why i buy most of my clothes in from China)-
@cuteycindyhoney will do
-
I didn't realise simcards in Ireland were so cheap
I thought it was cheap in the UK but wow, like literally 10% off worst case scenario
-
@Astral Soul In the UK, an unlimited prepaid plan is usually around 35€
in Ireland from what i could see was around 20€however the lower data plans did seem to be about the same (when adjusting for euros)
and prepaid 5G was actually provided in Ireland (here i believe you need a contract still for 5G)

How do I wear headphones and not make me look more masculine?
Like I can pass reasonably well (minus my stupid chin and glasses) but the moment I put headphones on I become super masculine- Show previous comments 3 more
-
@Toshigami Equine I use ones that fully encompass my ears (a pair of studio headphones that never leave the house, mainly for music and especially gaming,
and a pair of bluetooth ones that i use out the house and as like round the house)
I tried resting them beind the top of my head (as per your advice) and it did seem to help quite a bit, mixed with finding a way to get more hair throughyeah that's true
@Kujamih that's an idea i should do
