Society may not really be racist, but it's absurdly classist.
And frankly the latter is a fact that should be plainly obvious to anyone paying attention.
-
How are people STILL whining about something SO inconsequential as a brand changing their logo?
And everybody else not screaming and hollering over a face on a bottle of syrup is a "far left snowflake" am I right?
-
IGN reviewer-
Soulless cash grab sequel that most people found mediocre at best: 10/10
Seemingly faithful and additive remake to a classic game that most independent reviewers say is good: 5/10
Did somebody forget the check in the mail? Or are you just stupid and don't deserve your job? Saying BfBBR "Relies heavily on nostalgia and fanservice?" sounds like an obvious admittance to bias to me considering what I've seen... And Gamespot one-upping them with a 2/10... Wow. Shows you how untrustworthy these reviews are.

This is f***ing hilarious especially with how homophobic Pence is.

I give you... FEMBOY PENCE!

Talking with somebody on Discord and apparently there are people who exist that don't believe in a person's right to a fair trial.
That's some authoritarian cringe.

Far Right: "blah blah blah I'm a massive hypocrite who pretends I don't get offended by every other political topic blah blah blah"
Fake Woke Left: "blah blah blah every other thing somebody says is bigoted because I said so blah blah blah"
Me, about civility:
Seriously, though, is it just me or have quite a few people on the right and the "left" become complete and utter two year olds in recent weeks? I mean the far right always did act like two year olds, but the fake left is starting to catch up in terms of immaturity.
-
Imagine acting like a brand changing its logo is the end of the world, yet you think everyone else is too easily offended.
The cult of the Far Reich, everyone.

Reasoning with both extreme PC liberals and the far right is like talking to a brick wall at this point. Neither listen to anything you say and instead just get offended by everything that doesn't fit their agenda... I would say the far right is still worse about it, but liberals are becoming much worse now as well, calling pretty much everyone racist when they say anything running counter to BLM's agenda. Though there's also the far right whining and complaining about freedom of speech and calling everyone they don't like as "terrorists" or "far left." What makes the far right worse is that they do this while complaining about liberals doing the exact same thing.
I will say at least liberals seem to be a little more often on the right side of the issue, though all the pandering and all the times they go off the deep end kind of negate that.

Just listened to a Sam Harris podcast that opened my eyes a little bit on the issue of the protests:
He's one of the first people I've come across to legitimately want a real conversation on the real issues here. He makes a few interesting comments that actually seem to be very realistic but aren't the story that always comes across. You can get the gist of what he'll say by about the 20-30 minute mark, but he goes into detail on that take later.
He presents the idea that, actually, race is nowhere near as big of a part of the current issue with policing as BLM presumes, while of course coming to the sensible conclusion that Trump's reaction to this is also complete divisive lunacy. Of course nobody will want to listen to that point of view, though.
I realized that my stance on the issue was being a bit too influenced by being a part of my own minorities of gender identity and sexuality, as well as potentially being part of the autism spectrum. However, I also did find a few things he got wrong, and I'm not going to say there is no racism, because that's plainly untrue and the statistics he recites in this (nearly 2 hour long) podcast show such.
What I WILL say is we should STOP sensationalizing this issue, liberals and the right (especially the further reaches of the right) alike. Sam Harris makes a very logical assertion saying we should treat skin color like we treat hair color. Like it makes no difference to much of anything whether you have blonde or brown hair. The same should apply to the color of a person's skin. Which was exactly what MLK advocated for in the 60's, not this idea that blacks should be more equal than whites.
But there's also a lot more to this issue to unpack that quite frankly would turn into a novel. Like how blacks make a tenth of what whites make on average, or how blacks are more likely to use drugs than whites and therefore get affected more than whites would by the War on Drugs (in a negative way, of course), or also how, in all actuality, statistics show that black and hispanic cops are more likely to have a violent confrontation with a black suspect than white cops are.
If you take anything out of this essay-length status let it be this: the issues of policing and racial inequality are very likely MUCH more complicated than you think regardless of where you are on the political spectrum, and both sides of this discussion are doing immense amounts of harm here. There needs to be an actual conversation here, though of course both sides must make concessions for it to be even possible, like the right needs to concede that the police aren't always right and also to concede that racism indeed exists against blacks, while the liberals need to concede that this is no epidemic and police brutality isn't a race issue. If you can't just compromise and listen to reason, then you're too far gone and there's nothing anybody could say to bring you to sane conclusions. I once again say this to both liberals and the far right and the real left (Kyle Kulinski, Bernie Sanders, etc.) also.
TL;DR: Stop sensationalizing this issue and actually think about how it needs to be fixed. Stop being overtly racist for the sake of it, and also stop sensationalizing the issue of racism to the extreme it has been sensationalized, but instead start a honest conversation (of course allowing such by taking necessary concessions). That's the only way to fix this. And an extra note to the right: peaceful protests whether you like them or not, are protected twice over by the first amendment.

@Pastel Heart In truth I've never really entirely supported Black Lives Matter, but before and also after watching I think that they do have a point that does need to be incorporated into the conversation. But yes, I would definitely say that other than them having a little bit of a point, I think they're still causing an over-sensationalizing of the issue that's just further adding fuel to the fire.
-
@Furret ᐡ꒳ᐡ the way things are going I think anything can add fuel to the fire. If people don't stick up for their rights in these times of crisis when will they? Some people, like me, can't afford to wait until the 30s when the crisis escalates. I disregard the sensationalization and focus on the material conditions
We need a better world tomorrow, today. The media is spinning all this any which way they want but I need to stick up for what's important to me and I can't afford to be quiet.
-
Now that Gen 8 is... a thing (a thing that is unfortunately no good)... And that I've been OBSESSIVELY listening to the Furret Walk (Furret is too cute, dammit), I think it's about time to redo my Pokemon Picker list, though with Gen 8 turned off because I personally just feel like acting like it doesn't exist at this point, plus I don't have much of an opinion of most of the mons anyways like I do with Gens 6/7 (even if I've actually played the games from neither gen).
-
My goodness Gen 8 pokemon fans are toxic:
Calling somebody a loser over pointing out the fact they keep introducing things that should have been in Sw/Sh to BEGIN WITH? Way to stoop to a new low.

Oh spare me the irony of the fascists talking about virtue signaling when that's literally all they've done since the protests started.
The far right are beginning to look a lot like this to me:

@TheBronyHeart I'd say in this case it's more than a valid description since they have made it clear they believe in censoring freedom of speech and in putting the black and the poor as a separate class considering they support the "War on Drugs" that's essentially done just that, and they make a deliberate and downright idiotic effort to complain about anyone trying to actually fix our economy to properly accomodate the middle class, although that part may be just due to intentional ignorance on their part.
The way I see it if they say it gives them credibility in this case, then I'd say it gives my point more credibility as well, considering it shows just how delusional they really are to believe that censoring differing viewpoints and also apparently in classist ideas is somehow democratic because it suits their agenda, even if they won't directly say that.
-
Perhaps it would be enlightening to me if I were to know specifics of which group(s) you're referring to. There's always the possibility that you are completely right, but far be it for me to say. Honestly not my intention to in any way belittle you or your ideals, just wanted to be clear on that.
The war on drugs is an idiotic and horrid endeavor, I agree. But supporting it doesnt necessarily coralate to belief in racism or desire to keep classes separate. And in a similar vein being fascist does not automatically make you a racist, though class separation is a part of most fascist ideology just not in a typical way. As another way to look at fascism is being a extreme nationalist, in this way class division is usually based on naturally born citizens over immigrants, aliens, and other nation's citizens. It is important to distinguish that Hitler's Germany was using an unorthodox form of fascism known as Social Nationalism, and he was also a racist f*** with his own personal ideals of race and class which he then ushered into society. But the obsession with race discrimination itself is not a core of fascism.
One of fascism's pillars is a strong national unity and need to stimulate the economy and industry until a nation can be completely self efficient. Relying on other powers for the economy or allowing the economy to wither goes against this major tenant. Though ironically this self efficiency in the modern world would arguably be unsustainable. I agree with your assumption that it is more than likely just ignorance on their part.
I'd write more but I am quite tired. Just got off the overnight shift. Sent with good intentions and best wishes, friend.

Okay so I found this video which actually has a great breakdown on fascism, admittedly delivered as a history lesson about Italy, but Italy was the closest nation to really achieve a fascist state. And TIK is a very well learned guy in this regard. I'll just leave it here if you want to see it and then promptly drop the subject altogether, but I am still appreciative you took the time to respond. Cheers.

All I'm going to say is this: All of the fascist snowflakes coming out of the woodwork are amusing.

You know what grinds my gears? Toxic optimists.
You know the people who think that you should be happy or else you deserve a miserable existence, but sugarcoat it in terms of "I'm always happy and you should be too!" and trying so hard to make people happy that it's more ANNOYING than anything else. It's almost like if you see negative in the world it makes you a bad person or something and you should be converted into this "so positive its toxic" mindset.
-
@Prince Doopliss I mean thy don't go quite that far with it, but it almost seems like that's their end goal...

Artemis Fowl deserved better than a movie as much of a complete ATROCITY as I hear the recently released film to be. Seriously, I've heard people say it's worse than Mulan 2 which in and of itself is an achievement in pure awfulness.
I already had disdain for Disney, but it keeps inching closer and closer to legitimate hatred with every bad movie they release, and everything they screw up so unimaginably bad like they did here.
-
@Lazy Ferret JK Rowling only did one thing NOT worth my spite. She wrote the books which would be made into good movies. Though considering that's all over, she can die in a house fire for all I care. She's transphobic, neo-liberal, extreme feminist human waste.

Unpopular movie opinion of the whatever arbitrary period of time:
The Godfather is overrated. It's a good film don't get me wrong, but far from a masterpiece. I'd be inclined to say that Goodfellas is a better gangster film. And not just a little either, like at least half a point out of 10 better. The Godfather, frankly, has an issue with character development. None of the characters, even with the amazing performances, really feel that much like their own characters, if that makes sense. Plus the writing of The Godfather was not necessarily stellar either.

Wow, the police state loving fascists are in full force now. Going to justify cops murdering innocent people with the audacity of making the dumb@$$ argument that they're somehow the victims. Frankly, THESE are your deplorables. People who think murder is okay if it's committed by somebody with a f***ing badge. And also they're defending a cop's right to rob people of their CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS by attacking non-violent protestors.
It should be blatantly obvious that this Blue Lives Matter thing is from people who do not believe in democracy when you watch things like this start unfolding:
-
TF2 now has Twilly Bots. And yes, BLU had SIX of them in this game. Also a hate spamming myg0t bot too.
-
@ElectricEnergy⚡ Except these bots always play Sniper and always land headshots even if they aren't looking at you.

I don't like CNN but wow Trump is being a massive crybaby, because he doesn't like their polls. Not unexpected, but sad and hilarious simultaneously nonetheless.

@Dark Qiviut All while he calls the military on peaceful protestors simply because they don't like the idea of a police state.

The far right: *Get offended because people aren't racist*
Reasonable People: "What snowflakes the far right are"
Civility:

People complained about Chick-Fil-A pretending not to be homophobic and now they're complaining about NASCAR abandoning racism? When will the snowflake-y hypocrisy end?
Also people saying the flag represents southern pride are beyond ridiculous. Proud to be traitors to the union because your ancestors couldn't own slaves, but yet at any moment complain because people don't do everything but the Nazi salute in front of the American flag... Seriously what side are you people on?

@Antagonist 🦹♂️ So far, my brain hasn't exploded.

Imagine spouting intolerance and then complaining when somebody else doesn't tolerate it.
