      Yes. And really, the leaders can't lead forever, so eventually new leaders have to step in to continue leading something, if it is not going to burn out.

      Although, it must be said, the leader must also be good enough that the followers they teach to be leaders can see that their current leader is the best person to lead them. No leader worth following causes all their followers to lead themselves out from under their leadership, because that means that the leader is worse at leading their followers than their followers are at leading themselves.
