  1. Re-watched the MLP movie for the first time since like December 2017. And man, have my thoughts on it changed since then...

When I saw it for the first time, I thought it was alright. Nothing particularly special, it served its purpose well enough and had some genuinely good moments along with some good characters.

But now, well, I appreciate it a whole lot more. :) (Don't worry, no spoilers)

For starters, I'm starting to think that Tempest is probably the most three-dimensional character in the entire lore, and is probably my favourite pony, no joke, fight me.  Secondly, I thought that the sound design was absolutely brilliant, especially for a movie like this. Swear to god, the sound of those airships in the beginning is orgasmic for the ears. The songs were pretty well done as well, "Open up your Eyes" easily being the best. The visuals/new animation style really made it feel like the overall scale and production value were a lot higher than your regular episode, really helped in getting invested.

I'd say it's biggest flaws were pacing issues and the villain being pretty bland and almost a cardboard cut-out of much better ones. But despite these, I still found myself enjoying it much more than I did on my first watch. :P

I just realised that I spent nearly 10 minutes typing out a review for a fucking My Little Pony movie, never once thought I'd ever do that. Then again, never thought I'd be watching the show in the first place, so... Two negatives make a positive I guess. :adorkable:

    1. The Recherche

      The Recherche

I never could have imagined that I would be speaking a Northern European fellow on a Forum about My little Pony roughly one year ago myself, so I believe it is a safe assertion that life goes exactly as you don't expect it to. :D

Either way, I'm glad that you enjoyed the film a smidgen more. I would give my judgement of the film myself, but I am still behind on the show. :please:

      Spoiler

Please don't report me to Rosie; she gets blood-thirsty. :D
