  1. The frequently mentioned Earth Pony magic is indeed a welcome change. That aside, if I can give G5 credit for anything, I think the dialogue overall is a step up. Not only for the fact that the Friendship themes aren't named at every possibly opportunity, but the Mane 5 in general tend to get a little bit more one-on-one time with each other. Some of the best FiM episodes were ones focusing on a dynamic between two characters, and G5 is much the same, in that regard.
  2. And a... One and a half? Being a Retired Staffer leaves me in an awfully awkward position. I am sure our lovely Staff have no tolerance for turncoats! 1.5 it is for now, regardless!
  3. Re-bonjour, cher ami! I do apologize it took me so long to say hello again. Sadly, work is determined to be an utter pain in my rear lately, but such is life. I am sure that you can relate. :please:

How have you been the past little while? Well, I am hoping?

I knew I was right to avoid Disney World, to be perfectly honest. :mlp_please: Not that it wouldn't be fun per se, more that all of the changes to accommodate modern crowds would probably just make it a headache. Themes parks in general have never been my cup of tea, but I am glad you enjoyed yourself, nonetheless! I have always been more into Zoos and art festivals anyhow. Not to mention the horrifically upcharged refreshments.

But yes, I would indeed like to see what you have worked on! I don't have tons of free time nowadays, but I would be interested to see what you have written, whenever I do have a spare moment.

I don't blame you. Theme parks aren't really my thing either. Maryland has a nice zoo. I was there years ago and had a good time. We also have a topiary garden which is really nice during the spring and fall. :adorkable:

Here's the link to my story so far. I hope you like it. :twi:

Oooh, are you referring to the one in DC? I went there when I was a very young child, when my family and I used to live in Maryland. It was a lovely experience, from what I recall. I have not been to the topiary garden, however. I may have to check that out once I find my way back to Old Bay Land. :D

And thank you for the link! I will try to work it into my schedule, and I will let you know once I have given your work a read.

  4. I have no particular affection for her, truthfully speaking. There is nothing wrong with her design or character; they are quite charming, actually. Nonetheless, this fandom's particular affection for OC's and background characters is one that I have simply never shared.
  5. It's... alright. I did my best to be charitable towards G5 when MYM and TYT began to air, but frankly, I have not noticed any serious improvement in either series. They both have their moments, but if I am to be perfectly honest, G5's worst moments remind me of G3. There are some additions that I enjoy; Earth ponies have something to do besides kicking trees now, and the cast is overall enjoyable. Zipp and Hitch's dynamic is one I particularly enjoy. But really, nothing about either series has managed to impress me at all. If anything, characters like Sparky make it feel as though the series is actively devolving. And even with that aside, I agree with the popular opinion that G5 being a sequel to G4 was ultimately not the right choice. Continuity does not have to be followed to the letter in something like My Little Pony, but there is no getting around the fact that G4 had an explicitly happy ending that G5 threw away. There is always room for improvement, or to turn things around, but it seems that Friendship is Magic may have just been lightning in a bottle after all.
  6. Just a quick apologies for likely flooding your inbox with tons of notifications from that update to Silky. That got awfully out of hand... even if it was a bit fun. Trying my hand at poetry was also a treat.

And thank you again for the signature! it is utterly impeccable, if I do say so myself. :darling:

It's totally fine. My gif was just me having fun, too. :kindness:

  7. An invitation, I have been bestowed. Oh good heavens, I shall set this place aglow! After all, my utter perfection we all know. Everlasting from coarse summer sand to soft winter snow. More robust than ginger, more succulent than aloe. From the heights of Beijing, to the rivers of Bordeaux. So lovely, I can cure any and all woe. So witness me, in my grand Chateau As I put on a peerless and grand show!
  8. I do hope you don't mind me asking; I have not actually met you in my whole time on this platform, even since 2018, so I presume you must have departed for one reason or another. My I ask why you were compelled to return? A nostalgic itch you needed to scratch? Or perhaps Pathfinder made you an offer you couldn't refuse to become an Administrator? :D You don't have to get into any personal details or anything of the sort; I am just quite curious, since you seem quite enthusiastic about being back in action. I feel as though I would have met you by now.

... Or perhaps I am more behind the curve than I thought after all. 3.png Look at me and my gaucheness!

Okay, now I can sleep because I did indeed read brilliant poetry.

  9. I thought purple meant "Samuel L. Jackson Was Here?" I have grounds to impeach you for referencing Cool Cat of all things, cher ami. Contempt of the Colt Court, I say! I am afraid I have no artistic skills to be part of this, regardless. Try as I might, my hands simply do not cooperate with my mind in regards to art. Neat idea, nonetheless!
  10. ... ... ... I could have sworn that said "We're Expecting!" Glad to hear that the Staff will be more active among us though. I do believe the Staff have always been quite amicable, at least in my experience, but I am eager that a point has been made of it. It couldn't hurt to entertain our overlords, no?
  11. I SEE YOU OVER THERE. (This is related to the subject at hand, I promise.)
  12. Me returning to MLPF after one year all like... Sincerely though, many congratulations to you, Hugsalotl. Do keep this lovely lot of ruffians in check for us, no? I simply didn't have the heart to keep up my part of the mission. Do forgive my lack of fortitude.
  13. Much obliged on the friend request! I must say, I don't believe we have met, but it appears you have been around the block far longer than I have. My most active period here was around 2018-19; I was quite the late bloomer, you see. :D I'm glad to see that there are still lovely lads and ladies with an affinity for MLP, regardless.

... Even if I am not too terribly fond of the Generation 5 content, but that is neither here nor there. :please:

  14. It's funny. One of the few constants of life is change; the weather, the seasons, aging, birth, death. I used to think it was fascinating seeing how things change, and it often is. With time, however, I find it even more fascinating how much things don't change. Ambitions. Old enemies. Deceit. Recent developments have stoked this fascination of mine. But make no mistake; I eagerly await what the future brings, and I shall witness it from a comfortable distance as we embrace our old flame of Astydameia. Godspeed, my friends! Only, I fear that we will not make it back to Iolcus this time.
  15. Not bad, although I did prefer the movie. The visuals are mostly good, with very few exceptions, all of which are mostly forgivable anyhow. There is also the humor, which I honestly found more miss than hit, although I did like the "who wants to hear a story" joke. I think my main beef with this special is that it very much feels like a pilot; this isn't its fault per se, nor can it really be helped, but pilot episodes are almost always the least interesting parts of ongoing stories, mostly because there is no established drama or conflict yet. It does have the benefit of not having to do any heavy lifting in terms of introducing the characters or setting, but it nevertheless did feel a bit plain. I am not too upset about it, though; I more or less expected it to be like this anyhow. I suppose I have a habit of sounding like a downer, no? On the bright side, I do still think Zipp and hitch have a good dynamic, and their increased screen time was very welcome. I also appreciated how Earth Ponies have actual magic now, so they can feel more equal as part of the trio. And there is of course the villain reveal, who introduces a ton of new questions just by themself. There are plenty of mysteries to uncover in general, which I am eager to hear the answers to. Gen 5 really does have a lot to live up to when you think about it, especially since Netflix could can it at any given time, but ultimately, I think things will turn out just fine for this series.
  16. I won't say that I am worried yet; I honestly didn't expect much of Make Your Mark, so I am not really surprised at Izzy being PInkie-fied. I will be concerned if this carries over into Tell Your Tale, though; I actually have some expectations for it, unlike Make Your Mark. I will say that I am otherwise perfectly fine with the rest of the Mane 5 thus far in terms of characterization; their inspirations are still relatively obvious, but I think they are doing well in distinguishing themselves from their G4 counterparts. Izzy just seems to be an odd exception to this, at least for now.
  17. ... Eugh. Not a fan of this one. I'm definitely not the first to bring this up, but I do not like it when Izzy is portrayed as this destructively oblivious. It mirrors some of Pinkie's worst moments, which is particularly bad for Izzy specifically, since she has usually been portrayed as much more thoughtful, or at least aware. I am starting to like Zipp and Hitch's dynamic though, and I do appreciate the moral behind this episode. I can just hardly stomach Izzy's character here; it's not the worst thing I have ever watched, not remotely, but I seriously hope Izzy is not like this in Make Your Mark. I also did not like the humor at all, but I won't give it too much grief for that; I am sure some younger folks will get a kick out of it Still, Trotformers was worth a chuckle.
  18. Looks about as good as I expected. The visuals are quiet nice, but I noticed a lot less motion in the actual shots; characters seem to stand around a lot here, with not much going on in the background. Still though, it looks good overall, even if not movie quality. I do think anti-magic sentiments are a good way to get things started with this series as well; it's something unique for this generation, if nothing else. I do look forward to seeing how it is all handled. And my goodness, how far in the future is this? "Dragons haven't been seen in Generations!" So we know Spike is gone, or at least in hiding. I would adore if he made an appearance late into the series, though. Fingers crossed!
  19. Another Hitch episode, and a pretty good one, actually. I won't pad this out too much; I am admittedly running out of things to say regarding this series, but this is higher on my list of favorite episodes thus far. This series is doing a pretty decent job handling the Mane 5 thus far in general; not perfect obviously, but for a series of YouTube shorts, it could certainly be worse. I do wonder who Hitch's next deputy is going to be, though. Probably Zipp, if this episode is to be believed, but we shall see.
  20. Netflix is really trying to save face, it seems. I will say that Make Your Mark looks about as good as I expected; similar to the movie quality, but not quite as crisp and clean. Still looks miles better than the first time we saw footage though, which is good. Can't say any of the other content looks very good, though. Even if I adored the Kung Fu Panda movies (the first two at least), I have no real interest in an ongoing series. Sonic isn't exactly known for having great series either, SATAM aside. Dragon Prince and Cuphead are good from what I hear, at least. The rest of it just looks like dreck; who honestly wanted a Green Egss and Ham series? Regardless, the Make Your Mark series seems to be shaping up well, from what little I have seen of it.
