  1. This episode is one of my favorite episodes. It helped flesh out Luna as a character with real problems that fans could identify with. When Luna was happy, you felt happy for you. When Luna was sad, you felt sad with her. I’ve said it before, but I think that this scene shows so much about Luna’s character and state of mind without saying a word. Since she came back, she felt like she’d been living in the shadow of Nightmare Moon. The statue is pointing at Luna in a mocking manner as if saying, “I am how they will always see you”.

  2. And that's what makes it so tragic. Young siblings failing to communicate with each other resulting in them being separated for a 1000 years. Celestia paid for her arrogance and not thinking about how her sister felt by being alone for a very long time. She had no one to confide in with what she had done. That's a long time to carry grief and regret over what happened. Celestia had to choose between the well-being of all the ponies and her sister. That is not a choice that any family member should have to make. It was the first time that Celestia had tried using all the elements at the same time. Normally should would only use three (like Luna). I think she was unprepared for the power of using them all at once and meant to subdue Nightmare Moon, not imprison her for a 1000 years.

  3. Teenagers these days are only interested in the new popular anime, nothing old that helped make the genre popular in the US like Ghost in the Shell and Akira. You can tell who they are because they're wearing Attack on Titan jackets or cosplaying as Kirito at conventions. I will be the first to admit that I enjoyed SAO when i first watched it but then realized what a pile of drek it is. Kids today are afraid to spread their horizons in anime and only watch what is popular at the time. Ask them about any movie Miyazaki has done and they don't know who that is. It's very sad.

  4. There are many of us that didn't find/appreciate this show until a year or so ago. It happens with a lot of shows. Just be grateful that you discovered the show while it was still on and not 10 years later. I live not too far where Bronycon is held and I didn't start watching the show until last year. That's a lot of years that I could have gone to Bronycon if I had discovered the show earlier. There are a lot of shows that didn't get a second or third season that deserved to like Sonic SatAM. Fans begged for a third season but it never came because it couldn't hold up against Power Rangers and the ratings were bad because it was never on TV at a consistent time so fans never knew when it was on. Everything was planned out but the plug was pulled on it.

There were times when I almost deleted the stories that I was working on because I figured the show was almost over and no one would care. But I'm going to enjoy the time I have left with the show and work on my projects until they're done.

If Gen 5 is just as much a success as Gen 4 was, then you'll be fortunate to be there for the beginning and ride the train till the end. :kindness:

  5. I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this. As Snow said, see a therapist or psychiatrist and get the help that you need. Keeping everything bottled up and not resolving your issues will only cause things to get worse. I had a roommate and good friend who fell into a severe depression after his fiance cheated on him. We found a suicide note by him written on the fridge. We had to have him committed before he tried anything. Thankfully he was able to get the help that he needed.

I hope that you are able to come around. :kindness:

  6. I’m sorry to hear this. I know that we rarely spoke (if at all) but it will be sad losing a familiar face around here. I agree that the fandom does not feel the same as it onc did. When I joined back in April of this year, it was a lot more people here and felt very active. Now places like the Lounge is a ghost town and the games aren’t played as much.

If being in the fandom no longer gives you any joy, then you should leave and find something that makes you happy. Being a part of something you enjoy should never feel like a chore or a job. I hope that you are able to find that same spark in something out there that brought you here. :kindness:

  7. Well said. I agree with a lot of what you said. Like some people here, I got into MLP on the tailend of the fandom. I never got to experience it in its prime which I will always regret. The show isn't as advertised as it once was. Years ago, it used to be everywhere in stores because it was huge and fans couldn't get enough of it. Now, stores barely carry anything related to MLP. I was in Hot Topic the other day and they had zero MLP related shirts at all or any other merchandise.

By the end of this year or sometime next year, we may have a better idea of what G5 will look like. My only hope is that Hasbro treats it with more respect than what was done with shows like Teen Titans Go which destroyed anything good about the original series for me. G5 will have to very good to keep G4 fans interested. Otherwise it will be dropped very quickly. Something else to keep in mind is that fans are getting older and thier interests are changing.

I'll be interested to see what happens if the conventions stay around since the voice actors and writers will be moving on to other projects. Hopefully some of the same writers will be able to stay on for G5 but we'll see. Regardless of what happens, G4 will always have special memories for me.
