Only song I like by this guy... but I get the most powerful combination of flashback/feel/inspiration/sadness/everything I can't explain when I listen to this song. As such, I don't allow myself to listen to it except on special occasions... It's too much to handle. (Example: I copied the link from a google search, I won't even risk trying to pause the video before it begins to get the link from the actual page.)

music Songs by Bands that you don't listen to
Abstract replied to Moog the Kvlt's topic in Media Discussion
Not a huge fan of "Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!" (Just not that into punk, really. It gets on my nerves.) But this song, I can really get into sometimes. -
MLP Series Finale - How will it all end?
Abstract replied to Akemi Homura's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
More likely than not, (being a children's show), the series finale will come to close on nothing but notes of pure rainbows and sunshine. The way I see it, The Mane 6 will either: 1. Take the "everything turned out perfectly" route, and achieve and/or succeed in what they always wanted or 2. Take the "I realized I had what I wanted all along." route, ending on much the same feels as Route 1. It would be a nice surprise however, to see the writers do what they seem to be fairly good at; use a more mature/realistic/whatever idea than is normally found in a children's show, and make it kid appropriate. (Still with a happy or at the very least, "satisfied" ending). I guess one day, we will find out.... sadly. -

Beer: Coors Light Liquor: Vodka. Any kind, it's all good. Wine: Just no red wine please. If I'm drinking, I will be severely disappointed if I wake up the next day and don't regret it. For this and other reasons, I only partake in such recklessness maybe once a month, if that.

I feel like the only reason Sony and Microsoft are able to compete with Nintendo, is because they're huge companies with truckloads of money to dump into becoming loss leaders. Nintendo just does games, and it still comes out in the green in the end. I wouldn't worry about them too much.

Granted. However, cars no longer exist. I wish I could stop popping my ears.

One of these days, I should probably get around to actually naming all my MLP episodes on my computer. Numbers don't really help when trying to identify one.

More Princess Luna: Good or Bad thing?
Abstract replied to kain17's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
As long as they can show more of her without discarding any of (what little there is) her previously shown personality. I don't want a "new and improved" Luna, I want more of what we've seen built upon. That absolutely gorgeous, breathtaking not-to-mention dark and mysterious pony needs more screen time. -

Super Mario World on my friends' SNES at his birthday party when I was 5. Still one of my absolute favorite games to this day; must pull out my copy sometime soon.

I don't have much experience with the latest editions of any of these OS's, but from four or five years back, this is what I know: Windows - Like many, it was what I learned to use a computer with, it's what my family always had/still has, and it's by far the most common OS out there. It certainly has come a long way from the pile of crap it once was, but it still has a few small niggles here and there. It's interface is decent enough; usually it's pretty easy to work with and figure out, and does what you ask it to do without much complaint. The software compatibility factor simply cannot be beat, and is definitely its main advantage; if you're a computer gamer, this is clearly your best choice by miles. However, when something goes wrong, you may as well forget about that useless built-in troubleshooting. You're much better off just looking online for solutions. Overall, I have no real inclinations one way or another over the love/hate thing people seem to have for this OS. It does its job most of the time in a decent manor. Linux - I've given a few distros a go every once in a while, and it's a fun challenge to get things to work just the way you want them. But that is the main issue when trying to sum Linux up; there is no real "official" version, and there are hundreds of not thousands of them that all have their own perks/interfaces/ways of doing things. You really do need to be invested and willing to learn to get the full Linux experience. If you take your time and have patience, you can essentially make an OS that is tailored for you and specifically you. I feel this is why there is such passion from the Linux community - you can pretty much do whatever you want with it, and make it work better for your style of computing than any retail OS ever could. But, for your average user, I feel that something even as simple as Ubuntu is simply not a real viable alternative to Windows or OS X. The software compatibility list leaves much to be desired, and the potential hardware compatibility problems can be a nightmare if you don't know what you are doing. I ran LinuxMint as my only OS for a few months when a virus on my netbook forced me to wipe Windows from the hard drive; to make a long story short, I ended up paying HP the sum of money they wanted to send me XP re-installation disks. Linux is just not for me, and many others I would think. But wonderful for those who enjoy tinkering. Mac OS X - This is my OS of choice, for a few reasons. First and foremost, the design of the whole interface just clicks with the way my mind works better. I almost never have to go searching for a feature or function I need, it's usually exactly where I think it should be located in the menus and folders. Just the way Finder works, the way the drop down menus work, the different locations of options and settings, etc.; Nearly everything about the way OS X does things and allows you to do things makes it incredibly simple and easy (for me, anyway) to do what I need to do. Similarly, the aesthetic design of the OS is very, for lack of a better word, beautiful. There is less available software than for Windows, but the amount is growing all the time; very rarely do I ever find an app on Windows that doesn't have a Mac equivalent. But of course, there is a big downside to the OS; it's generally a massive pain in the ass to get OS X to run on anything but Apple hardware. (which is undeniably expensive, and often lacking in specs or features.) It can be done, but it's not something your average user could do easily. All in all, each OS has upsides and downsides; use whatever fits you best.

Generally, I don't take on "uplifted spirits" or "a more positive outlook on life" or anything of that nature (though some episodes will do such a thing every once in a while) when I watch MLP; I've always been a very feminine guy, and candy-colored ponies fit with me quite well in the first place. Put said ponies in a TV show that's both funny, well written and add in some terrific characters, and you've got me hooked. The fandom actually probably provides more for me than the show itself; these forums being the number one benefit. But I also love some of the fanart and fanfics it inspires, and all these combined provide for hours of entertainment. The show will give that "warm and fuzzy feeling inside" every once in a while, but that's just a nice surprise every now and again. Mostly, it's just a damn good show with a damn good fandom that brings me happiness in many forms.

I always prefer calling female fans of the show "pegasisters", but if they don't like that term and prefer "brony" themselves, there's nothing wrong with that. I feel like some of the disdain for the term "pegasister" is because some equate the seperate term to being seen as "lesser" fans of the show than bronies, almost a derogatory term, when I see no such intentions behind it. But that's just my theory, apparently many just find it "lame".

It seems like every forum I've ever been on has a huge debacle erupt over likes/brohoofs/upvoting, etc. Glad to see we've managed to keep it to a civil discussion. For the most part, I believe brohoofs are a great way to show support and agreement for a users' post, without the needless and spammy "I Agree's" and "+1" posts. In a sense, they do encourage quality posting. Generally, brohoofs aren't just handed out to every passerby, so getting one on your posts is like the gold star sticker you got on your homework in elementary school; It's a "keep up the good work" sort of achievement. To this end, it does its job pretty well I would say. Of course, there are always going to be those who hoard them and do nothing but fish for them; this cannot be helped, and in my opinion, are pretty far and few in-between. The majority of MLP Forums' population are intelligent and well-meaning people who know the value and responsibility of brohoofs, and the few outliers who don't follow the rules shouldn't be allowed to spoil the fun for everybody.

Chrome on my netbook, TenFourFox (Firefox fork) on my eMac. Though I'm seriously considering switching back to FF on my netbook, Chrome is getting ridiculously RAM hungry, and 1 GB just ain't enough to handle it.

Are online friends just as important as offline friends?
Abstract replied to Crazy Misty's topic in General Discussion
For a long, long time, my only friend was a guy I met on another forum. He pretty much was all my social contact outside of my family, and kept me less depressed and lonely than I could have been. I consider him a true friend, this person who didn't even live in the same country as me, as we talked almost all day, almost everyday and bonded beyond a point I thought was possible between friends. To me at least, an internet friend can be as, if not more important than IRL friends. -
The Dumb Things We Believed As Children!
Abstract replied to CinemaBrony's topic in General Discussion
I'm sure I had a few silly beliefs as a tyke, but the only one I can really remember, is seeing power plants' smokestacks, and thinking they were cloud factories. -
