I learned something:
It's a good idea to KEEP older releases of various projects. Just to record some history for yourself.
I've been doing backups and everything, but as I was making progress, I was removing the old versions thinking I won't need them. Who needs some obsolete stuff after all...
Recently I was looking around my old files and that's always a nice nostalgic trip. I do have some earlier releases of games, but I certainly don't have their beginnings and these are the most interesting to see after all this time. In general it's nice to see how things have progressed through all this time... Now I kinda miss these early versions of some of my games.I do have plenty of silly non-pony games nopony here would be interested in, but it also does apply to these pony games. Back then I've been working on a pony RPG and this project, despite never having a public demo, nor anything, has already a pretty long story - - - full of cringe.
Hah I still think I have a lot to learn but holy balls, seeing these first terrible attempts to make games... these super awesome epic games with 9999 features that hardly made any sense but I thought they would be cool... I can clearly see I have improved a lot, at least from that cringe level.
Anyway, sadly I don't seem to have these early versions. :c
These looked terrible, but actually were playable, at least to small degree. It was much easier to fill the game with plain poor quality content. Then I started improving and reworking everything, making it all look properly, but... I haven't reimplemented everything yet and I paused the development of that game, so the recent versions lack of many features, making these hardly playable.It's like planning to rebuild a treehouse. You get rid of the old one to build a new one. As you destroy what you had to make space for proper treehouse, you suddenly get busy with other things and end up leaving nothing there... and here, now I'd like to at least be able to revisit the old treehouse.
Now I can't even go back and have fun with what I had, it would bring so many memories...
The oldest version I managed to find has already many things changed and not everything is there as many features were removed to be remade afterwards. Buuuuut at least it still had this!
It's poo poo pee pee, very basic and repetitive in its current shape, but playable! -and I remember often procrastinating playing this while I was playtesting the game.
There were some few more things, that I wanted to see and be like "awww I remember this, good times", but RIP.
It's the same thing with the current project, Shattered Harmony. I already have changed nearly everything since its initial prototype and sometimes I kinda miss the old silly versions. I do have plenty of backups. Not sure how far they go, but maybe I'll try to restore as much as I can, compile them as they are and leave them playable somewhere in the corner for future me.
But it's not about my projects only - am I the only one, who sometimes likes to see/revisit the old versions of various games? Minecraft, Terraria, these would be good examples.
Anyway, from now on I have to remember to compile the games from time to time to keep proper record of their development, not only images.

About that, this head model is kinda outdated. I havent really taken the time to keep the kirin models up to date. So the cheeks, I actually made them look more visible, but not as much as the movie style. You can see the up to date version in my recent animation tests. My overall plan is to keep what I like about the show style, while implementing some things that make movie style looks smooth and logical.
Extra note : I'm currently trying to give the kirin ears the pseudo movie style treatment, like the normal pony ears. Going to see if its going to work out or not

@Splashee you could say it looks a bit....messier
Im trying to make it look more natural
And honestly, I didnt even have a set idea on how I was going to do it. I just added another spiral here and some protruding bits here and there
The spiral in the middle actually wasnt planned to be like that, it just my initial design for it just....sucked

Is it weird if I am craving for attention after I finished vectoring a project? I feel like I want to show my work to more people, because the feeling I get from people caring about the things I made is really satisfying.
