Think I'm starting to regret turning off my satellite internet. It is quite clear to me that 4G LTE networks cannot handle the needs of its users. Arrrrgh! Why must rural internet suck so damn bad!?
-
@AppleBolt ⚡️ AT&T sucks everywhere. I switched to Verizon and I’m so glad I did. I don’t live in a rural area though.
-
I had AT&T for about 4 years. Coverage was so terrible, I had to install an outdoor repeater so I could get a decent signal. Switched over to Cspire recently and I'm not too happy with the service. Tho I think you're right, @AppleBolt ⚡️ about the lockdown affecting speeds. That's about when the service went downhill. Luck if I hit 0.75mbps download
I use to be a happy Verizon customer for a long time til they screwed me over on a bill about 7 years ago. Charged me a several hundred dollar bill for overages I didn't even use. Still haven't forgiven Verizon and continue to put up with crappy service from other carriers
@The Ultimate Bolt ⚡, Verizon was definitely fast when I had it. Coverage is excellent at my house and rural property.
I don't know. I may have to let it go and switch back

It's been really dry here lately. Kinda surreal to see the creeks this low, especially considering how high they can get after a major storm system. Well, I have plenty of sand to play with
Also, I found some eastern Red Cedar sapplings while walking thru the woods. Might dig these up and plant them in my field. They won't grow well in the shade.

Funny you mention that because I’m planning on ordering an Applejack and Rainbow Dash decal I saw online in a couple weeks when I get my paycheck. I finally got back to work last night.
And you know how I had discovered the joys of stargazing a few months back? Well a couple weeks ago I went out to look at some stars and got this picture of the Moon and Venus. I was actually keeping this picture to show you. I took it with my phone so it’s difficult to even see that’s it’s the Moon. I added a filter to it to make up for that lol.
I’ve been doing a lot of it up until last week , I started working now and I’m back doing college so my stargazing nights will have to be put on hold for a bit.

Nice!
I haven't done a lot of stargazing lately since the sky has been hazy. If you travel far enough from the cities and suburbs, you should be able to see the Zodiacal Light about an hour or so after sunset. In the spring/summer, it's a cone of light that stretches from the western horizon to the Zenith, depending on how dark the skies are.
Glad you're able to go back to work. Looks like I may be returning to work by the end of the month.

Hello everypony! I'm back. My phosphors needed to be rejuvenated.

As soon as this next round of storms passes thru, I'm heading to my other place for a while. My mind needs it.

Nice looking car @Phosphor! I approve of the square look! That's an amazing design

Hello there, fellow Mississippian! Looks like there's three of us on here.

The sky is nice and clear tonight. I took a reading of the night sky at home and got a pretty typical result (~21mpsas). To you folks in the cities and suburbs, this would be considered "dark".
Compare that to the reading to the one I took at my other property a few days ago (21.65mpsas), there's a huge difference. That's a very dark sky! Theoretical darkest sky on earth is usually assumed to be 22mpsas. The scale is logarithmic.
When you experience a really dark sky, the one back at home just doesn't look the same anymore.
-
I don't know about y'all, but I'm ready to go back to work. I hate sitting at the house all day.
Think I'll pack a bag and head out to my other place for a few days.

@DivineDivine1000, That sounds like fun. Got any dark skies nearby?
@Twilight Luna, I've been spending a lot of time at my other property; but when I return home for a couple days, boredom sets in fast. Work would normally occupy that time. It's starting to drive me insane!
Hope everything goes well for ya, my friend.
Thank you, @Bastian. Stay safe out there.
@Yoshi89: Wait, don't you do tax work? *nope nope nope!

@Phosphor Where I live, we have some pretty nice nights when the weather’s good!
-
It's a good time to drive my old Ford truck. With gas well under $2/gal, who cares if it gets 10mpg?
-
It's currently storming outside and my internet is working. Huh, not used to that.
I shut off my satellite service earlier today, since I was able to get a decent 4G LTE plan.

@Princess ❤️f Hearts💙💛: HA! I live out in the country. Maybe 50 years from now, we'll get better options.

Good morning, everypony!

It's been a while. How ya been, @Partialgeek514?

I just switched back to the smartphone life. I don't have internet service at my rural property and I actually needed it a few times to look up phone numbers for services and such. Satellite internet has a major flaw: It's not mobile.
Now I just have to balance things to make sure the smartphone doesn't become the master. I don't have any social media and plan on keeping it that way.

I still have satellite but only at home. I'm about to turn it off since I just got an unlimited 4G LTE plan. Satellite worked fine, but i can't take it with me when I travel to my other property.
My current home and new property have the same internet limitations One of the downsides to country living.
-
@Princess ❤️f Hearts💙💛, Internet access is a good thing. It's all about balance. Don't let your devices become the master.

@Lord Valtasar, you aren't kidding. That's why I wore a red shirt.

I made a lot of progress with cleaning up the creek banks. Got most of the low branches cut so the water doesn't pull the bank apart after a storm. Also did some measurements and found the average flood depth to be around 5ft with a peak of 14ft. Bridge pilings can tell you a lot about a stream's history.
