I can see a hint of brightening near the bottom part of the planet in the NIR image. I'm hoping I can dial in the focus better tonight. It's tough at high magnification like that and with cold fingers. lol
I hope adaptive optics become affordable in a couple years. That will be revolutionary. Even more so than the Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector.

Glad you like it,@Tacodidra!
It's pretty neat how IR light just washes out the green from the foliage. Those bushes are dark green and the flowers are red to the naked eye. Had to shoot at f/22 to minimize chromatic aberration.

Ha ha. Thanks, @Tacodidra

@Phosphor You and a Twily make a good stargazing team.

Good morning, everypony! Here's the Near IR and color images of Mars from last night. Also made a short animation of the planet's rotation. I'm surprised I was able to get this much detail, considering that Mars' apparent size is only 10 arcseconds. It was 24 back in late July.
Almost finished with the Uranus data. I'll post those in a little while.

The battery packs for my telescope and laptop are depleted. It was a good night for stargazing.
I'll share some images tomorrow.

Seeing a distant planet, such as Uranus, in the eyepiece of a 16" telescope is a wonderful experience!
And brrrrr! My fingers are freezing!

@Cash In, I'm glad it's cold. It gets downright tropical in the southeastern U.S. during the summer!

@Duality, yeah. From what I've seen, graphite from pencils show up. Some inks are transparent, tho.
I have some artwork from my little sister. I'll take a pic of one in NIR and visible light. Photographs look blank in NIR, too.
You can tell I love this stuff!
@Sondash Studios, thank you! It's like viewing the same world but in a different dimension. lol

Thanks @Tylad and @Tacodidra.
I was feeling better earlier today, but now, not so much. Time for some Robitussin and a pony video.

@DivineGlow1000, yep! I don't remember what kind tho.
Here's the visible light version for reference:

@Twilight Luna, one of those days, huh?
At least it's the weekend!
-
@Phosphor Between my cold getting worse yesterday, my boss not giving me anymore sick days, the snow, and everything else made me grumpy and sad.
-
@Twilight Luna, that sucks, bro.
I'm just now getting over a sinus infection, myself. Hope you feel better!

Thanks, @Partialgeek514. I have a couple more UV shots of some flowers from earlier today. I'll post em in little while.
@Celtore, Where's the snowman?
-
@Celtore, indoor astronomy sounds pretty good when it's freezing outside.
-
I'm starting to feel the cold medicine wear off. Gonna call it a night. Good night everypony!

Sunshine in the forecast for the next five days. I can finally dust off my telescope.

I don't know, from the looks of things, it seems our branch of the weather patrol is on strike with our mail system.
And yeah, I can imagine that being difficult! Even my goto controller can be difficult to handle when my fingers lose their feeling and that's not even something you need a lot of dexterity for. Perhaps mittens could help?

@DivineGlow1000, lol. She does!

I'm not a fan of white LED street lights but at least they don't spew light in every direction like those crappy HPS fixtures do.
The town closest to me uses barn lights that splatter light everywhere but the street! They're glare bombs and make driving at night even worse.

@Phosphor Aye, my lamp on my desk is more of a white LED but almost never have it on. The thing is, I use this program to get rid of most the blue light from my computer screen.
This automatically adjusts to sunrise and sunset. So, the full blue-white light is during the day and then a warm light during the night. It has REALLY helped with my sleeping. Before, I would almost never be able to sleep but with this, it makes sleeping much easier.
-
@TwilySparky, ha ha. I do the same thing. The laptop I use for astronomy imaging is setup to turn red, as it's important to maintain night vision.
I didn't do that to my gaming pc, since I do want to see all the colors. I wear yellow glasses after 9pm or so to help with sleeping.
-
@Phosphor That's only trade-off I can think off. Having the color become warmer does make colors incredibly messed up. Though, it's one I can live with!
-
Ha ha! Nice try, Trixie!

@Tacodidra I love Trixie’s dazed expression at 0:39.

Collimating a Newtonian telescope is pretty easy after the first time. Can't say the same for Schmidt-Cassegrains. I've only had to collimate mine twice and still find it intimidating!
Using a screwdriver near an expensive glass corrector plate makes me nervous! Luckily, my C8 holds its collimation well since I'm extra gentle with it.

@DivineGlow1000, wait till ya have to do the drift alignment that's required for long exposure astrophotography!
I cheat sometimes with a polar alignment scope. Close enough is good enough

@Phosphor Sorry, I don’t speak Twilight!

@Celtore, Those apples got turned into applesauce.

@Tacodidra, funny how the wagon with hay did more damage than the anvil. Gotta love cartoon logic.
