  1. I hit 120mph on an interstate bypass a couple years ago. Let me tell ya, the suspension on a Nissan Altima gets squirrely above 110! Just felt like punching the throttle that day. It was real early in the morning and all 8 lanes were clear
  2. I do now that I've found a good doctor. I'm on 4 different medications and he recommended I do intermittent fasting and keto to lose some weight and get off all the meds. Much better than my old doctor that just prescribed pills with very little explanation. Always get a second opinion Just started doing the 16/8 fast about a week ago and seem to be adjusting nicely. I'm also starting to ease into keto as it can be difficult at first. Also walk just over a mile every evening. I can do this!
  3. Much better than this afternoon. Getting over a cold and just got done with the rounds of aches, chills, fever and sweat. I should be good to go now. Thankfully my immune system is potent
  4. I've always been interested in astronomy. Saturn has fascinated me since childhood. Use to love checking out books from the school's library to look at pictures of the planet Speaking of, I need to finish unpacking my telescope gear. Summer Milky Way season is upon us
  5. Not feeling real good this morning but it was nice to wake up to the call of Bob White quail thru the window.

How are yall? It's been a while

*hugs* I hope you feel better soon, my friend! :kindness: It's nice to see you again! :coco:

I've been fine myself, the week has been a nice one with a lot of racing and ice hockey to watch. :eager:

Thanks! Just went thru the rounds of aches, chills, and fever. Just broke about an hour ago and I'm up and moving.

Missed coming here and chatting with yall. I plan on coming back more frequently

  6. Pics of the kerosene lamps I recently bought. The first two were given to me by my neighbor. Favorite is the last one: Rayo center draft lamp. Throws a ton of light (and heat too) Fresh fuel and wicks is usually all that is needed to get these types of lamps going again. I use Klean Heat since it burns much cleaner than regular kerosene. No soot, even with the flame cranked up.
  7. I'm way behind on any G5 updates. Almost forgot about it actually I suppose I'll give it a shot as I found Pony Life to be somewhat to mildly amusing.
  8. I seem to have slipped on a time traveling banana peel. Woke up to my house being illuminated with kerosene lamps instead of electric lights.  :muffins:

Yes, looks like it is Kerosene. I only knew the Swedish word for it (fotogen). I realized my old kitchen ceiling lamp is a modified Kerosene Lamp for normal incandescent light source.

I found more Kerosene Lamps. I do like the design! It was a long long time ago I saw one burning though! :o

I bought 2 more of those large center draft lamps for the new house. They're nickel plated and sit in my living room.
The brass one sits on my dinner table.

Pretty much wrong time of year to use them due to the heat and humidity, but they go great with the rural farmhouse decor

  9. Bought a few kerosene lamps last week: 5 flat wicks and 1 center draft lamp. I've always loved the soft light they put out and plus they can serve as a backup heat source in case the power goes out in the winter. I'll have to post some pics when I'm back home.
  10. Should've used PEX line instead of PVC. Lesson learned
  11. Lately, not that great. Been feeling like a tire spinning in the mud, getting nowhere. Dreary winter weather hasn't helped at all either. Things are starting to look up tho. Temps are getting warmer and the days are getting longer. Plus construction of the new house has been ongoing, so looking forward to that.
  12. Looks like the forums got an upgrade or two since I last logged on.

Quite busy. She's been helping me slowly pack some things so I can move once construction on the new house is complete.

      How bout yourself?

  13. I noticed your content counter is stuck at 9999. Would be funny if it rolled to 0000 after making another post in one of the threads.  He he  :sassy:

  14. 2 years later: Ended up buying a new laptop for my telescope cameras. I'm still using my old gaming pc tho. It's really showing its age, so a replacement is on the horizon
  15. Come as you are - Nirvana Especially the guitar solo at 2:01
  16. I'd stay right where I am. I live way out in the country
  17. Not that great. I've lost both of my grandparents within a 5 month span and 2020 still isn't finished making life hell for me.
  18. I've pretty much been a classical deist most of my life, just didn't know what it was called til I was in my early teens. My early religious disagreements and interest in the founding fathers of the U.S. lead me down this path. Most of my family are either southern Baptist or Catholic, so the conversation can get awkward at times.
  19. Raptor: Call of the Shadows is still pretty fun all these years later. It's one of my childhood favorites.

  20. Sonic CD! I love the time travel aspect of the game and how the game shows you the consequences of just blowing thru it. Next favorite would be Sonic 2
  21. 007: Tomorrow Never Dies boss theme
  22. Images of Mars from my 16" telescope last night. Conditions were decent, but the humidity and skeeters were unbearable.

    1st Pic: Color

2nd Pic: Near IR filter (improves contrast)

3rd Pic: Violet filter (enhances view of Martian clouds; blue and UV filters will also do this)

Equipment used: Skywatcher 16 (telescope); ZWO ASI224MC (color camera); ZWO ASI178MM (monochrome camera)

  23. My current commute is 30 minutes to work. 2/3 of which is on an interstate highway. The remaining is on a curvy, congested 2-lane highway. Overall the commute isn't too bad, but there are some days where you just question how you have any hair left. Worst part is getting on the interstate in the mornings cuz school traffic is insane. When I move, my commute will become an hour drive, but nearly all of the commute is on a straight 2-lane highway with very few people. Rather peaceful drive actually.
  24. I really should visit more often.
