I caught the Alpha at Harmonycon last February and didn't feel at all like myself again until a month ago. I went through months of feeling like a lazy good-for-nothing slob on the verge of a heart attack every time I tried to do anything physical. Just walking across the room made me feel like I weighed 500 pounds. I'm still waiting for the emotional numbness to go away completely.

I'll just leave this unusual obituary here and see if anyone feels like erasing another piece of history out of paranoia to protect... whatever the heck they think they're hiding.

Heh, no. Well originally it was one of those odd propaganda-ish holidays in the U.K. that celebrated the day a plot to destroy Parliament (using a crapton of kegs of gunpowder) was thwarted at the last minute. The old celebrations involved annually tossing effigies of Guy Fawkes (who was the antagonist in the plot) into fire. Other kids dress up as the character and in a pseudo Halloween style tradition, will ask for money with the phrase, "Penny for the Guy?" The money donated was to purchase fuel and pyrotechnics for the festivities. Lots of revelry was naturally involved too, so maybe think like a much more mild version of 'Burning Man.'

Since then, like with a number of national holidays which people later realized were kind of brain-washy, it has evolved greatly into something else. For some it's now a celebration of patriotism, not just for the winner of such plots or struggles, but the loser as well. 'V for Vendetta' cemented this new vision of Gunpowder Day into a sort of celebration of rebellions against tyranny. Guy Fawkes masks are now common at protests and also the symbol of "Anonymous" as a result.

For others now though it's simply an extra fun day to shoot off a ton of fireworks.

@King of Canterlot Remember when some guy promised four years ago that there was mass election fraud and he would've won by a much bigger margin? He swore he would gather the evidence of that as soon as he was elected. I'm still still waiting on that, as well as the promised tax returns, and also the video proof of the "rooftop partying in Brooklyn" after the 9/11 attacks that he also swore he witnessed. We don't have any of that, so I wouldn't hold my breath on this either if I were you. Sorry. You fell for a con.

@R.D.Dash It's incredible how many times I've ordered buttered bagels at drive thru and ended up with bagels with cream cheese. Easily 25% of the time, across multiple locations, and different companies.
