  1. She is the only royalty who acts responsibly and also the only character who is a good role model as a parent.
  2. They are the same company who didn’t release Luna toys for a long time because they thought she was too dark for kids, and kept making pink Celestia because they wanted to sell pink princesses to girls I guess. If they can do that, It’s not a surprise that the main character being a male caused this. I think the animation studio and the toy marketing department are quite disconnected, and I also think Hasbro is not the only one who has this kind of problems.
  3. I’m a bit concerned about G5’s character design. Bland Colors Less dynamic color brightness Less recognizable silhouettes These are characters from G4. Their colors are iconic and recognizable, they can even be distinguished only by color. But I don’t think we could expect this kind of abstract paintings from G5. Their colors are distinguishable even in black and white. The brightness of the colors are all over the spectrum. Twilight, Rainbow Dash and pinkie’s hair are very recognizable, Fluttershy’s overall bright color is noticeable too. The color dynamics within the character varies from characters like Rarity with dark purple and white and Fluttershy with light yellow and light pink. Their shapes and silhouettes are also distinguishing because they have big heads and widely various hair styles. The G5 seems to have a different style and approach. I don’t want to say they are lesser because I haven’t seen the show and I don’t know yet how their character designs work within the context. They have different graphic and animation styles, they’re in a different show. What concerns me the most is the color palette. I know that they have a huge disadvantage against G4’s design because they have to avoid using the obvious colors from G4. They chose secondary colors instead of primary colors. I guess the character’s colors are an artistic choice, but it’s obviously less bright, less distinguished, less recognizable and also less colorful. They look like mushed pastel tones of peach, purple, violet and blue. The brightness of the colors are less dynamic as well. This might not be a fair comparison because we are all more familiar to G4’s design, but I can remember that many people like me recognized characters like “the purple one” or “ the rainbow one” even when we didn’t even watch the show. We even recognized them as human versions because the hair styles were very unique. The silhouettes are little confusing, especially the middle one and the next left one. You can say that one is a unicorn and two are pegasus ponies, but G4 didn’t needed races to help recognizing their shapes. The hairstyles are more casual too. It’s obvious that they are aiming for a less colorful way, and I’m just a bit concerned about G5. G4’s Season 8’s opening was edited and directed terribly, and the show ended up being my worst season. I don’t want G5’s character designs to be a bad omen to G5. I can see some people think that ponies from G4 all look the same. I hate to say, but in G5 they kinda looks the same, at least more than G4. Long story short: G4: G5:
  4. I think It’s too late for the feedback, but just to say, Do : Proper character development Charming background Likable main characters Heartwarming stories Good lessons Slice of life Comedy Cute girly pony stuff Don’t Half baked lore expansions Emotionally empty epic battles Milking the franchise Bad political correctness Being too eager to appeal to the fans All of the above can be ignored if the story is good. I don’t like fish that much, but if it’s cooked well, I’d be more than happy to eat it. I would also like a complete separation between G4 and G5, but it is too tempting for the showrunners to include 2000 year old Twilight or a villain to show up or be referenced in G5. Who wouldn’t be tempted if you can make millions of people scream and clap so easily just by few frames of old references? If they make good enough original stories and characters, people won’t even miss the older generation.
  5. Thank you for your reply. I was just concerned that before the update the artwork used to fill the screen all the way from left to right, while after the update there is a purple sky in the right (which I believe is the background layer).
  6. The banner doesn’t fit the screen after the update. I use iPhone se2. It happens in both Safari and Chrome.
  7. Earlier would have been better. It seemed a little like an afterthought (which it is). They should have at least got their cutie marks at season 3. CMCs getting cutie marks was meant to happen one day in their childhood. In earlier seasons, every adult says that they would eventually get it, and everypony gets it so there’s no worry about it. Nobody else takes it as seriously as the CMCs and their obsession is kind of a childhood phase. The problem is; like Spike’s wings, Applejack parent’s autopsy reports, Scootaloo’s parents, Celestia’s mom, the fandom could not bare unanswered questions. It also took five years of blank flanks running around during the show, so it seemed like forever not just for the CMCs themselves, but it also seemed like a really long time objectively, and CMCs seemed like facing serious developmental issues. It became a meta. It was never meant to take that long, or the CMCs never meant to have their cutie marks during the show just like they never grew up during the show. It seemed so in earlier seasons. The episode that they get their cutie mars is not that bad of a self contained episode, but their cutie marks was a result of a self reflecting meta and twisted by the fandom’s expectations. Their foreshadowed talents (potion making, singing, bike) was completely ignored. Their talents and destiny was defined by the inherit limitations of the show. (It’s like Twilight’s duty as a princess became more of a defense weapon against foreign threats, and less of spreading friendship.) The CMCs could have had different jobs and still be best friends (it would have had a better potential for future episodes) and it would have made a better lesson if they still stayed friends after getting different cutie marks. Heck, they could still consult blank flanks, and even better! Consulting blank flanks is more of a job for grown ups I think, and a group of young fillies doing it is kind of adorable, but not as a serious job and as their future destiny. They are little fillies and they have reached their lifetime goal already. The CMCs never moved on. Worse if you see what the show did with the CMCs after they get their cutie marks. They have been doing the same thing since season 1, and they will keep doing it for the rest of their lives. What would have been better is The CMCs get their cutie marks at the end of Season 3. At that point, they slightly grow up and look like somewhere between adults and fillies (like Applejack at Where the Apple Lies). They don’t look like seven year olds. They get different cutie marks based on their talents. Twilight becomes an alicorn at the end of season 4 or 5, and her becoming it is the seasonal arc. You get to see their peers grow up as well. Silverspoon, Diamond Tiara, Snips, Snails, Pipsqeak, etc.
  8. Older seasons vs. Newer seasons. I personally like earlier years of MLP much more than later years, but I know there are many people who would disagree. I was reading the comment section on Equestria Daily one day, and it was a mess. Peoples arguing over earlier vs later seasons of MLP were like watching people from different political parties fighting. Strange that those people watched the same show, but had a completely different viewpoint on them, and I think it’s a pretty simple & straightforward show than most other shows. I think this issue is the one that polarizes the fandom most. Besides the inherit shortcomings of mankind, why do you think it’s so polarizing about this particular issue? I don’t care if people keep fighting, I’m just curious.
  9. If you count Manga as books in your question, I’d say Edge of Tomorrow. I liked Fight Club the movie more than the book, and I think 300 is quite a faithful adaptation and arguably a better one. I also prefer The Lord of the Rings movie. (But not The Hobbit) I disagree with people about Harry Potter. The first two movies were a very well made faithful adaptations, the third one was a unique and great fun movie. Harry Potter movies started to go downhill since the fourth one and they were very monotonous and gloomy in a boring, less charming way. The movies has its limits, but I think the later ones were neither faithful to the original nor unique in its own way. The Order of the Phoenix was the least fun of the books, but at least all Harry Potter books were quite fun to read.
  10. I never saw any good or at least half-way decent manga/anime based feature films ever in my whole life. Both Japan and Hollywood has been completely butchering them.
  11. Cone on. People always wanted to know so bad why the Applejack’s parents died, they would have asked Mayor Mare an autopsy report if they could. Why don’t we just ask Applejack about her parents death? Oh wait, that would be rude. Do we really want to be that curious about her parents death? It’s not that weird that we don’t know, and we probably would never know.
  12. It’s just an ok show and the characters are rehashed mane six. In MLP, characters being ponies helped, in DCSHG, the characters being already well known DC characters was a double edged sword.
  13. I think it would be better if the framing and compositions were more diverse and dynamic. For example, the first panel, it would be better if it showed more closely to the dog’s head, the second panel would be better if it empathized the dog looking into a bin. Right now, most panels looks similar and the audience could be very bored with the visuals even if the stories are great and even the individual panels were great. A simple zoom-in would help, and if you would like to put more effort into it, draw it again in a different angle in a way that helps the story. Focus on what the panel is about and avoid repetition. I suggest reading Scott Mccloud’s book about drawing comic books called Making Comics. It’s written in a comic book form and might be really helpful. That’s just my advice.
  14. B+ at best. It is nowhere near perfect and even it being a good show or not is debatable. It is a special show for me and it has its charm, but technically it is not a masterpiece especially when considering later seasons.
  15. Black Sabbath. They are your favorite metal band’s favorite metal band.
  16. I prefer the manga if it’s the original. Unlike all the well done feature film and animation adaptations of comic books and novels, anime usually suffers from its chronic case of dragging out sequences due to budget limitations and the amount of time they have to just pass by to fulfill the episode’s quota. And in many cases of manga based anime, they usually focus on frame to frame reconstruction of the source material instead of finding out what’s the best for the medium based on the director’s vision. It takes 20 minutes to tell the exact same story of a 5 minute manga chapter, and I see it as a problem. Also, just like many novel adaptations, anime almost can’t succeed what the manga did to the reader’s mind because many of the scenes are played out more perfectly and fluently inside the reader’s head. (A rare case is One-Punch Man season 1’s visuals and that’s why it was so special and popular)
  17. Sombra didn’t return at S9. Grogar was real. Chrysalis didn’t return at The Mean Six. Cozy Glow wasn’t a twist villain. Discord didn’t do stupid things at A Matter of Principals and S9 premiere/finale. Starlight Glimmer gets defeated and never returns. Pony Of Shadows didn’t exist. Chancellor Neighsay didn’t exist. Tempest Shadow had a different childhood story anything other than the one we got.
  18. The show hyped Grogar up knowing exactly what people would expect. Then they subverted their expectations for the sake of it and ended up being a nonsensical mediocre storyline, satisfying almost nobody in the demographic. Some people were “OK”, some people “Didn’t mind”, but not many people thought it was clever or satisfying or well executed. They didn’t achieve anything good by the twist. Why didn’t they make Grogar real and make Chrysalis, Tirek, Cozy Glow turn their backs against him?
  19. There is no way he will say “We had no idea what we were doing at the time!” even if it is true. But who plans such a story that turns up to be a half baked one?
