Planning to watch the new EG special in the weekly chomps given by the Digital Series.
No spoilers, but I'm just curious, how would you rank the special out of 10? (For those who've seen it).

@Tacodidra Always better to be an optimist than a pessimist! (Probably a faulty generalization, but you get my point)

In case some of you didn't notice, I posted a status update a while back basically saying RD was no longer my "best pony".
Well, guess what?
That was to lead up to this, a anticlimactic April fools joke. (Translation: RD is still best pone.)
To make up for it, I will finally do my AJ character review. And, no, this is not a prank.
Applejack: An Underrated Gem or a Celebrated Hero?
Even with me not being a early dedicated FiM fan, I caught on early on that AJ wasn't exactly known as "best pony", and that title was usually given to RD, Flutters, or party horse.
Even so, the way I see it now, AJ's rep has sharply increased.
No longer is she the butt joke background pony, but a hero who has won the fan's hearts.
Don't believe me?
Let's take a few popular bronies/pegasisters in the FiM community: Applegeek, Lily Peet, SilverQuill, Equestron, Sweetie Bloom, etc. Regardless of what you think of these fans, they're all fairly popular, and they all appreciate Applejack.
But... what do I think of Applejack?
In my opinion, the only two ponies that could probably pull off all five Elements (not including Magic) would be Pinkie Pie and Applejack. Both of them show a wide range of abilities, emotional and physical. I strongly believe that with their archetypes they could pull off those five Elements.
I'm not going to get sidetracked with theories, though. My point is, Applejack can be a lot of things.
She can be funny, bringing out the best of her family and others. (i.e. Sisterhooves Social, where it is directly stated of how good a sister she is to Apple Bloom). She can be loyal. (i.e. The Cutie Mark Chronicles, where she leaves Manehatten to go back to her family. Also, direct quote: Why of all the... This is your sister Applejack, remember? The loyalest of friends and the most dependable of ponies? - Applebuck Season). You see where this is going.
In the beginning, there was a lot of "meh" about Applejack. Now? I don't think so, and I can clearly see why.
Applejack is stubborn, competitive, overprotective, blunt, nurturing, hard working... all traits we didn't see a lot of in the early seasons.
In Seasons 1-3, I'd say, we only saw glimpses of these traits. Sure, they'd be one of the focuses of an AJ - centric episode, but we never really saw them develop in the background, which is much of what made Pinkie Pinkie, Rarity Rarity, Twilight Twilight, and so on. What did AJ do (mainly) in seasons 1 to 3? Apples. And... understandably, that didn't really make her a fave of the fans.
All that changed as MLP progressed, though. (Yes, I prefer modern MLP to early MLP. Fiighht me!) AJ got background development, and suddenly she got a popularity boost. Now, I'm not going to sit here and say AJ's currently as popular as RD or Flutters or even Pinkie Pie ever were, but it is remarkable to see such an admittedly boring character transform into my 2nd fave.
In conclusion? Applejack really is best background pony.

@Bolty Luck Thank you! I also like your new profile pic and name!

Well, this status update might take a while.
Firstly, I come back with a whopping 114 NOTIFICATIONS. This may not seem like a lot to you guys, but maybe it's a bad thing I haven't checked my inbox for a while.
Second, I have found my latest obsession: DDLC. Seriously, go check it out if you haven't. On the subject of that, though, I have recently lost my Windows computer (which is why I've been gone), and therefore am struggling to find a way to download DDLC without going through the trouble of creating a Google account because I'm using my only other option: Chrome. First world problems, am I right?
Enough about me, though. How has MLP and Forums been? Through all the havoc of this week (and the previous), I haven't touched MLP in a while, and I honestly don't feel like digging through other countless EQD posts just to find the ones relevant to S9 and G5. A quick update would be nice :)
Thank you all and have a great spring break!

Welcome back, my friend!
114... I've never had more than 103, but then again, I visit every day...
There was a trailer for season 9, but I'd avoid that if you don't want to see some spoilers for the premiere! Besides that, some new shorts were released in the Equestria Girls web series!

I'm SOO SOO SOO SOO SOO excited for S9 now! If you've missed it, there's a new S9 trailer that Discovery Family's Twitter posted. If you don't want spoilers, shield your eyes!
SpoilerSombra's back BABY!! Now, this kind of ruins the whole "comics being canon" thing that I believed, but I'll squeeze in a head canon to make it work. I'm just SO excited! I'm the kind of person who always jumps on the hype train and grabs as many spoilers as possible, IDKW but I guess I was just made like that. I truly wish I had the energy to dissect this frame by frame, but sadly I do not. Let's just hope S9 is as good as the staff is making it out to be!
SpoilerHere's the trailer for anyone curious:

@WWolf Or they'll just pull a "Season 7 teaser" on us and have
SpoilerSombra not actually be Sombra and just be an allusion created by Chrissy or something.
I mean, she made copies of the Mane 6, why not Sombra? And they'd have to know each other, both being threatning villains and all.
Yeah, maybe they'll address that...?

I just got done watching "The Ritual" on Netflix. Solid flick is your into scary films, like I am, but I thought it was kind of predictable and all around forgettable.

Sooooooo.... I've got some interesting news to say the least.
Ever since the announcement that FiM's Season 9 will be the last, I've begun to rewatch the episodes from Season 1. While I was watching, I picked up on some tidbits I didn't notice before or just forgot about. Through those tidbits, I'm pretty sure I developed a new "best pony".
Or two, really.
As I did with the "guess my new favorite show" status update, I've proposed a guessing game to see who can guess my new two "best ponies" before I edit my profile. You can look back at my "character reviews" status updates for clues about what I think about the characters, but since I haven't done a status update for Pinkie, AJ, Starlight, or Flutters yet I'll also give my previous rankings of the Mane 7. (I'm including Starlight because she's practically in the gang.)
1.) Rainbow Dash.
2.) Rarity.
3.) Pinkie Pie.
4.) Applejack.
5.) Twilight Sparkle.
6.) Starlight Glimmer.
7.) Fluttershy.
Guess away and enjoy your weekend!

I'll rewatch the entire series after it ends. I've enjoyed most of the episodes I've seen twice (though there aren't many of those) more the second time, so I'm sure it will be awesome!
My favorites back in season 1 were Twilight (my original best pony) and Pinkie (took over from episode 3 onwards). Nowadays, Rarity is my favorite, and I'd say Rainbow Dash is the character who has improved the most.

I forgot about the new short today, but good thing Forums has me covered.

@Tacodidra And let's not forget Bacon Mane.

On the one end, I'm super excited for G5 and all the possibilities it could have. But I really don't believe I'll find a show with this type of magical touch G4 had on me. Here's to hoping G5 lives up to expectations!
