  1. Happy Birthday, Sunsets! 🎁

  2. New name  I think it's a much better fit for my oc than Booker.

And yes, it's a My Chemical Romance reference.

  4. Wasn't gonna finance a motorcycle, but I was recently informed how essential a credit score is for getting a loan on a house, and I have barely any credit right now. I was also planning on getting an older bike, but considering there's like no used bikes in dealerships around here, I guess I'm going the new route (well, there are plenty of used Harleys, but I'm not gonna pay $25k for a used bike just because the gas tank says 'Harley Davidson' on the side. Harleys are built like junk and horribly under-featured anyway :derp: fight me).

So uh, if all goes well, I should have this baby on Saturday. Not quite what I originally had in mind, but it's growing on me. Hard to argue with the $7.6k msrp, too (ignoring the fact that the bike I was originally looking at costs just over $2k, and doesn't have any dealer's fees or sales tax, other than what I'd pay at the DMV :okiedokieloki:).

It's gonna be my main (and only) mode of transportation, so it's not just for credit. Credit is just a little bonus for when I eventually get a loan on a house, and it also allows me to get a better bike than I otherwise might be able to. As much as $7k hurts, if it's a reliable vehicle for the rest of my life, then it's definitely a worthwhile investment.

Although, I'm not gonna go for that one anymore. I visited that dealership and don't really feel comfortable working with them. There is that other dealer selling the Suzuki S40 I mentioned, and they seem much more trustworthy. They've also got some other good bikes I'm gonna look at. Not to mention the price is way more palatable.

I take back everything I said (except for financing, I do still need credit for a house. And about Harleys sucking. Because they do). I found a good used bike from a dealer not too far from home. About an hour and a half. It's even the same model I was considering buying from a private seller, funnily enough (a Suzuki Boulevard S40). Just a few years newer, and not much more expensive at $3k. Even comes with a few extra features, which is nice. Definitely thinking about getting that instead, assuming my parents are okay with driving me that distance.

  6. Just rode a motorcycle for the first time today, and it was a lot of fun! Took me a couple hours to get used to using the clutch (my scooter is automatic, so it's a bit of a change), but it started to feel pretty natural by the end of the day. Stalled the engine more times than I would care to admit :lie:

I'll get my license this weekend (well, my certification, which basically acts as a license until I can get an appointment at the DMV), and I should have a bike insured and registered late next week. I'm looking at an '81 Virago right now, which will hopefully still be for sale next week.

You definitely feel more connected to the road with a manual transmission. Helps you stay focused, which is really important for not dying on the road.

It is a little intimidating at first, especially when you're taking tight turns, but it's not so scary after a while. I'm actually more scared of driving cars than I am of riding bikes, oddly enough. Just feels more natural. I never could get the hang of using a steering wheel, being off-center in the car, or the sheer size of the thing.

Having an MSF coach there the whole time I'm learning helps too, I guess.

  7. Whew, gas prices have gone up. It's just about $1 more per gallon than it was a couple months ago. I don't particularly care since my scooter gets over 100 mpg, but still.

Motorcycles are more efficient than cars, but not that much. They usually get between 50 and 70 mpg. Scooters are only that fuel efficient because they have very tiny engines.

  8. So uh, one of my dad's coworkers had to leave for about a week and apparently he volunteered us to look after their dog. So now I have to live with one of those for a while.

Great. At least it's a small dog.

I guess we'll find out. She's been locked in my parents' room since the dog got here and I think we're gonna try to keep them as separate as possible. Usually I don't like letting Violet in my room because she gets into everything, but I'll probably let her in until the dog leaves.

  9. First white Christmas we've had in years, maybe even since I was in middle school.

Also a deer photobombed the picture, so there's that.

Man, I don't know why I've never used my phone's low light camera before. It's actually pretty damn good. The regular camera would be all black except for the light bulb on the street lamp.

According to my parents this is the first white Christmas we've had in about fifteen years. Man, living in the south sucks.

  11. Idk why but sometimes I get the urge to eat a spicy pepper

  12. Does anyone know what Octavia's accent is from Helluva Boss? I'm probably gonna anger most of the UK by saying this, but sometimes she sounds English and other times she sounds Scottish. Is it supposed to be a northern England accent or something?

On the topic of accents, what's Mrs. Cake's? I've never heard anyone speak like her.

    1. Early Sunsets

      Early Sunsets

I thought it might be a very exaggerated midwest or Canadian accent, but I have no idea.

It's an Unus Annus reference since the YouTube channel ended earlier this month. I don't have any name changes until December so I'm stuck with this name for a while.

  15. So glad I changed my moped oil. It is not supposed to be pitch black. I also changed the transmission oil at the same time, but that didn't look too bad. I'll also order a new fuel filter and put that in sometime in the next few days, cause why not. They're like $5.

Clean oil is a transparent golden-yellow. You're supposed to change it once it gets dark, not opaque black. In my defense, I've only had the thing for about 200 miles, so it being that bad is not my fault.

  16. Oh. That's bad.

Anyway, I'll be in the market for an AR soon. Anyone selling an AR 15 upper (with everything - barrel, bolt, etc.) for about $400? I need one before they're banned, unless congress can pull a miracle.

It's not Biden, it's his VP. Given Biden's age and everything, it wouldn't surprise me if his health takes a turn for the worse and he gets removed from office or, heaven forbid, dies. Next in line is Kamala, and she's terrifying - not only for our second amendment rights, but in general.

Think of it like writing a story with multiple people. "Out of character" (OOC) topics are generally used to discuss the direction everyone wants the plot to go, after which the story just writes itself. It can be a lot of fun.

Oh, and don't godmod. That's where you make an overpowered character.
