I think I might have realized why I never seem to gain any weight. Even though I feel like I eat a bunch, I still don't break 2,000 calories on an average day, and on weekends I don't even get 1,500 most of the time. That might also explain why I never have any energy. I could eat more, but then I'd also be spending more money, and I'd really like to save up as fast as I can. Hmm. I might try eating more for a while and see if it has a noticeable effect.
Thinking back to when I was in college, I would have been getting over 1,000 calories from lunch alone and I did have more energy back then, but my motivation wasn't much higher (for unrelated reasons). At BronyCon, too, I barely broke 1,000 calories for the entire day and just got through the con purely because of excitement and determination (all I ate was oatmeal for breakfast, four granola bars for lunch, and ramen for dinner). Tack on fursuiting most of the day in addition to the regular physical activity of a con, and that wasn't nearly enough to eat. I have to admit, even through all the fun I was having, I felt exhausted for the entire weekend.
I've always pushed off nutrition and regarded it as unimportant. If all of the fatigue problems I've been having over the years have been due to not eating enough, I'm going to be annoyed at myself.
