  1. That's a real shame. I am super fortunate that I have a fairly accepting family. Not everyone knows yet. Just my parents, brother and a few close aunts, uncles and a grandmother. And one of my cousins, but she's young and likes ponies. Still have a few left to tell and I'm fearing a few members will not be so accepting. However, I have no problem telling them to go fuck themselves with a pitchfork. If your close family is being this way, I don't know what to tell you. The only thing you can do is try to get them to go to multiple family therapy sessions to try getting them on your side of things. For what it's worth, my mom and dad were born in '59 and '58, respectively. It's not entirely just age. Some people are just hateful, and it's a real shame. If you want to talk on Discord, send me a PM and I'll be happy to have a chat.
  2. I have always maintained that Luna is overrated and isn't nearly as interesting as Celestia. I don't dislike Luna by any means, but I am far more of a Celestia fan and feel much more pathos for her than Luna.
  3. If by agenda you mean elucidating that yes, gay and transgender people do exist and are still human beings that deserve the same respect and rights as everyone else, then, yes, absolutely. In terms of forcing this as an ideal, not hardly. Why are you picking on on LGBT folks anyway? Just because it might make someone mad? You can claim anything "is an agenda" if you try hard enough. How about this for a lark? Heterosexual people in movies and TV is pushing the agenda that gay is totally wrong and the only right thing is being heterosexual! You'd call that laughable, wouldn't you? The same logic applies to your thinly veiled hateful rhetoric. Even with the same context in play, my absolute disgust still stands! Stating that you dislike them in media because it implies that it's normal and accepted is only a small step from unmitigated hatred. There is nothing that be objectively harmful about depicting a homosexual couple or a transgender individual in any form of media. Being included for inclusions sake is a slap in the face but a well thought out character or scenario is not a problem and arguing that it is... you might as well just come out (ha, puns) and say you just hate gay people. Chew on this however. Persona 4 has two characters who wrestle with LGBT issues: Kanji Tatsumi and Naoto Shirogane. Neither character would be as interesting and well rounded as they are without the LGBT aspects to them. Hell, Hammerlock from Borderlands 2 wouldn't be nearly as hilarious without the thinly veiled references to him being bisexual. To put it flatly, there is nothing wrong with having open LGBT characters in any form of media. And yeah, this includes ponies.
  4. And this attitude is why things don't change and people like me get continual amounts of shit from society at large. Anyhow, this should not be a taboo. If done with grace and tact that simply says "they exist and they're just like everyone else," I fail to see an issue. A light touch would be beneficial, not detrimental. Some kids definitely need that in their lives and a tiny nod or reminder that they aren't alone can do wonders. Need to stop shying away from sexuality and gender issues. There's not really any reason that this has to be depicted as blatantly sexual...
  5. Nothing's changed. It's still good. At least, for me it is.
  6. In the show, I'd assume vegetarian since they're basically just ponies. But if you're talking an anthropomorphic world, I'd say they're more like humans and are omnivores.
  7. An interesting thought but I think you're looking way too deep into this.
  8. If you're angling for console games, it's brutally expensive. Looked at collecting some NES and Super NES favorites. Expensive as balls. You can safely ignore MJR. The downside to his popularity is that his videos make game prices skyrocket for whatever title he made a video about. Collecting big box PC games is all about collecting games from a golden era. Back when you got cool things in the boxes like maps and coins, and didn't need to spent outrageous amounts on some stupid "collector's edition." Finding a deal on what you're after is always the best part.
  9. Rainbow Ride gives me colorful, flying nightmares.
  10. Best Zelda of all time is A Link to the Past. I need to crack out my WiiU so I can legitimately play Breath of the Wild instead of on an emulator. Great game, but it feels like a Skyrim mod. :p
  11. Here's my main complaint about RDR2: it's not on PC.
  12. Galaxy S6. I only have it because my Lumia 810 bit the dust a few years ago.
  13. I have an AIO CPU water cooler on my new build, also on an i7 8700K. Keeps the temperatures low and I can blast the hell out of it with Prime95 and not even get above 50C. Air cooling is usually fine but I wanted something a little better. Plus it looks good with my tempered glass side panel. :p
  14. Still have my NES, Super NES and Nintendo 64 from childhood. I never sell them. I could probably sell them now for some decent coin, but I don't plan on it. I can put those bad boys on a new TV if I want. Adapters are the best things ever.
  15. Anything I played as a kid mainly. Stuff like Combat and Crystal Castles on the 2600 and Mario 3 on the NES are timeless for me.
  16. Are there any other fellow video game collecting enthusiasts around here? I imagine at least or two must be around. I'm probably, like always, the odd man out being the one who collects, primarily, PC games. Short of the Facebook groups I'm in, I'm always the oddball collecting big box PC games. :p Here's a few random pieces of my collection: https://i.imgur.com/m5EOHvj.jpg https://i.imgur.com/prTtEFl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4LxX47u.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ePRa8MK.jpg No, that's not even close to a tenth of what I have overall. xD I've got shelves, boxes and tables full of stuff. Anywho, any other fellow collectors of video games and video game accessories?
  17. Christmas. Because Americans love to shop and this culture is built around acquiring as much useless bullshit as possible. And that is my cynical take on it.
  18. I'm MtF and I have begun hormone therapy. I couldn't ignore it anymore, even though I'd tried to do so for twenty-two years of my life. Sadly, I started the transition at 34 so I don't think it will end up quite as well as others, but I still have a good chance. Admitting to friends was fairly easy as was telling my brother. I just kinda told him "hey, this is gonna happen soon" and he was like "do what you need to do to be happy." Telling my parents was not nearly as easy. I did tell my mom and dad, and it went better than I expected. Finally got them to understand more with some family therapy time with a specialized gender therapist. When I'm not so goddamn broke, I'll be going back to said specialist since she's also a vocal coach and has an entire program just for transwomen to transform them from men to women. I am so lucky I live near the Transgender Institute. Not looking forward to replacing a good chunk of my wardrobe, nor getting so much hair lasered the hell off. I'm more tomboyish either way so most of my clothing will be fine. Not giving up my pony shirts regardless. xD
  19. Because it's easy. You can argue relatable, but that seems like it's pushing it a little. Love is the easiest way to put out a song with the least amount of effort. The subject has been overdone and I find incredibly boring so I look elsewhere. But that's me.
  20. To be fair, it looks like a decent family movie. Almost like a kid's version of National Treasure. I might give it a watch for giggles, just to see how it ends up. It really does not look all that bad. Could be kinda fun.
  21. If I listen to anything Christian based, it's usually Audiovision but Stryper is pretty good too.
  22. I use Windows 10 Pro on my current and new build. My laptop from 2008 runs Windows 7 Pro and I use Windows 7 Pro at work. I have a VM where I run XP, 98SE and 3.11. Oh, and I've got a Mac Mini running good old Snow Leopard. Oh, and my Win server box runs WS 2012 R2.
  23. While I adore Peanuts, I am a huge fan of Calvin & Hobbes. I have a lot of the collections and I still read it at least once or twice a year. C&H is easily the best comic strip ever written and it's so surreal, yet always on point. I've been a fan since before the strip actually ended its original print run. Always good for a surreal laugh.
  24. Panda Free and Malwarebytes. Never pay for anti-virus or anti-malware. It's not worth it.
  25. I build my own desktops and I go with Asus for laptops.
