3D for G5, huh?
Thank god I can accept 3D and understand the value of it. From what I saw, from the leaked screen shot (being movie quality), it is what it is. 3D deals with light and realistic scenes. It will suffer in movement, as it will look like any other Pixar animated stuff we have seen the last 25 years. That means exaggerated quick faces (fast movements, big to large eyes) and... Well that's all there is to it. There is nothing new they can invent for this.
But, 3D models, pony designs, and all that. It still looks acceptable to me! Might be that is it a movie and the budget allows for it.

As much as I'm not a fan of CGI, what's been shown so far doesn't look that bad, certainly better than I was expecting, save for eyes looking uncanny.
And yeah, I think the series itself will still be 2D, just the movie.
Off topic, but honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing attempts at more stylized CGI in animated movies. I understand its expensive, but I think it tends to look better.

Doesn't that kind of defeat the entire purpose of FiM?
The last episode of FIM would have aired about 2 years when this movie will (hopefully) be released. I think that is a nice pause and allows for acceptance of a new story.
Being in the same universe has the advantage of not having to reinvent characters. But I think we got that news just a few weeks ago?
I think it is on the border here. If the movie gets delayed, it will be fine.
I think it would have been bad if the story didn't start from an already broken Equestria. To me, Twilight Sparke didn't look like she would fail Equestria, so I am of course worried about how they will portray her. That could ruin the entire G4 plot, because they are mixing in G4 characters into the story (cutie marks for now)

@Splashee I’ve seen that animatic a few times and I love it so much, seeing the Mane Six again! I really hope that that’s what we’ll get!

@Twilight Sparkle ✨ Was MLPForums created specifically for G4 FIM?
Now when G5 is getting closer to becoming a thing, it would be nice to know, since I am a MLP fan for before G4, but I chose to be here for G4 specifically.
I was looking at G4 from a Brony perspective. Most people that found MLP because of G4 don't really watch the older generations or collect old toys. They are really G4 fans. To me, this very forum allowed people from around the world to join the Bronies, so to speak. But it also allowed people to like the older generations without being questioned for it.
I will totally understand if the future of this forum follows the newest generation. It is just good to know what the plan was from the very beginning.

I can confirm that MLP Forums was started as a G4-specific fan site. Fans of older generations have always been welcome here as well although G4 remains the site's primary focus even today. But times change and it's too soon to decide whether we'll embrace G5 as a site, ignore it, or something in between.
It's entirely possible that G5 will appeal to largely the same crowd that G4 did and that the result will be that MLPF becomes a place with strong loyalties to both generations. G5 isn't an "upgrade" the way a new phone you buy might be; I don't see it making G4 obsolete even if it ends up "stealing" its limelight.

@Twilight Sparkle ✨ I think that no matter what, it’s important to keep G4’s spirit alive, even if G5 turns out to be amazing.

I.... Don't know how ignorant I have been. The news has gotten to me way too late, about Texas. I feel horrible for not being there... for @ShadOBabe and others, during this difficult time...

I still have 33% space left of messages in my Personal Conversations... And I have basically never deleted any huge conversations since I joined.
I did ask for PCs today (), and I got them. Now I am exhausted! Thank you all for taking all the time! -
How long does it take to do pixel art, one might ask?
Think about it for a second.
SpoilerFor every new size of the image, one must redraw every pixel, and keep both the aspect as well as "no stair case" pixels (depends on different cases, really).
The first one was 90x90 pixels resized up 200%.
A complete redraw to 120x120 (avatar size):
SpoilerAnd one last redraw at 173x173:
SpoilerSo, it took me about 5 minutes to do these. Because my original image is a vector image. It doesn't mean I can spit out any size and it will look good. There are still manual tweaks that must be applied. Math can never yield pixel perfect art. An artist must still be the deciding factor.
Vectors take their own time to make, and the time does add up in the end. It is not a solution for making pixel art. But it is a neat trick!(The original vector's result art can be seen at the top of my About Me page. It cannot be scaled down and magically turn into pixel art).
