Shadow was turns out to be the spirit of once a very determined pegasus mare who wants to join the Wonderbolts however died in a tragic accident days after her family was pronounced to have vanished. However the day she lost her life was during Nightmare Night and there was a full moon. For some reason, Nightmare was able to came into contact with Shadow, who was confused. After Nightmare explained to her of her death, she was given a second chance in life if she were to agree to be a spy and the reward was to be a member of an acrobatic group. It also revealed her family was secretly associated with a cult dedicated to Nightmare Moon. Shadow quickly pledged to her new quest.

Throughout countlesss years, Shadow had been spying on Equestria as a freelance photographer working for countless groups and organizations and has moved to the city of Haytona, her passion to fly however never changed and she was always a fan of the Wonderbolts, always in the first-class seats, always going for the autographs but in the night, she wears a different uniform and blends with the night only doing it for the sake of a promise never to be granted.

However, it doesn't mean she doesn't have a heart for love.
