I got an unprecedented amount of boops, hugs, cake, etc. today. Thanks, ponyfolk.
I’ve been trying to do work all day, but I keep thinking about doodling. Maybe I’ll stick some OCs in my About section.
(In other news, I’m glad I don’t keep track of dates, because it would be a pain to try and celebrate a relationship anniversary during corona. But either way, I’ve been in a relationship for a year now, and I think that’s pretty crazy.)

*boops and hugs @Cagey*

Me: I should reply to a text/post/message/etc.
Also me: I have no idea what to say. -
I really want to buy a bunch of stuff from PonyFest vendors.

I woke up late, and there was a centipede in my shower, but I’m ready for PonyFest.
-
I downloaded a free art software to use aside from MS Paint. I think I figured out layers, but I don’t know what tricks and methods I haven’t discovered yet. This is surprisingly complicated.
At least coloring and shading is easier now.

Alright. I got a bunch of stuff done (and discovered that Google computers are terrible for video processing), and I’m ready to devote my weekend to Ponyfest and doodling. (Except I have more work to do, but I’ll deal with that some other day.)
Maybe I’ll pipe up in one of those request threads.

I have to take care of my to-do list… and have to hopefully stop worrying so much. I’ve been having weird dreams lately. But it’s a beautiful day, so I’m going to try and enjoy it!

@Cagey Here comes the hugs!

If you have a kid or niece or nephew or brother or sister, tell them you love them. Heck, tell all your loved ones you love them. Parents or friends or significant others. Do whatever you can to let them know. Even if it feels like there’s no words for how much they mean to you.
I’m in a little bit of a sentimental mood.

Is there a word for when someone just… lets things happen to them and isn’t proactive about their life? I swore there was a word for that, and now I can’t think of it.

So I finished reading Triptych by Estee! Non-spoiler opinions below:
SpoilerEstee has a rich, beautiful writing style. I’ve read many stories in this alternate universe—the Triptych Continuum—so I’m familiar with it. Amazing worldbuilding, dialogue, language—however, it can be easy to get bogged down, especially in the dense early chapters. Because there’s a lot of description. And, especially in the first half of the story, a lot of (at times) unnecessary vagueness. I don’t think the main antagonist’s name should be concealed for so long when it isn’t even a name the reader knows.
Anyway. Triptych is an epic tale of adventure and mystery, following Twilight and her friends as their attempts to help a pony in pain lead them to a conspiracy of dangerous proportions. Something small I enjoyed, aside from the plot and character growth, was that each of the Mane Six and Spike was important in a natural way. They aren’t forced into usefulness, but they aren’t useless, and each character has a unique importance. And I love how they interact with each other.
I don’t read long fanfiction a lot, but this was an enjoyable read. (Even though I want to complain about a detail of the ending.) Anyway, if you have patience for vague internal monologues from unnamed characters, I suggest you check it out.

I finished reading a 511,320-word fanfiction after a few days of devoting almost all my free time to it. Now my head feels like a puddle.

I addicted my sister to the Long Starlight game. https://mobile.twitter.com/roundtripguy/status/1248739323119198208
Anyway, I hope you’re all doing okay, and if you’re not, have a hug.

Oh shoot, I still have to pick an OC. And I still can’t believe I won the contest. I keep double checking the post and telling myself, “Yes, it says Cagey, and you are Cagey.” Wow!
First thing tomorrow, I’ll figure out what I’m doing.

Let’s just try to relax a bit.

So this is irrelevant, but I feel like mentioning my personal motto: know your audience. It’s something I learned way back in middle school English class, but it applies to life in a broader sense. When you’re writing an essay, you have to be formal with your teacher. When you’re writing to a close friend, you can be casual, lose punctuation, and tell jokes.
But sometimes you don’t know your audience. It’s especially hard on the internet, where you don’t have facial or vocal clues to your audience’s mood. Then you might make a miscalculation—be too informal, for instance. And accidentally upset someone. I’ve been on both sides of this.
It doesn’t mean you’re wrong or did something bad; you just misjudged the situation. Now you know your audience a little better for the future. Say sorry for overstepping, know it’s okay to feel frustrated, and work past the miscommunication.
I’ve found that it’s useful. Everyone is different, and it’s important to be mindful, even if you believe you’ve been wronged. It’s a motto I try to follow, even if I don’t always succeed. (For instance, I’ll say something that I think sounds normal, but my family will find it disrespectful. The same happens in reverse!)
I hope this makes sense. I was just chatting with my sister who worries about this a lot.
