Not a big pizza guy but would've said "anything with a lot of meat" until a few months ago. However, I watched the JRE podcast with Elon Musk, and in it, the former extolled the brilliance of pineapple and anchovies as a topping combo. I was always firmly in the "pineapple does not belong on a pizza" camp, and despite liking anchovies never would've chosen to put them on a pizza preferentially over other toppings, but I did try this exact combination for the first time a few weeks ago and I must say that I'm a convert. Simply delightful, and I'd seriously recommend that people here actually give it a go before they knock it. So, yeah. Pineapple and anchovies. Fight me

What cant you do body wise?
daviddaviddavid replied to ~Sugar Sprinkles~'s topic in General Discussion
I can't whistle, and I can't click my fingers. Can do almost everything else though. Touch my toes, the splits (as an over-6ft male I think this is pretty impressive at least?), curl my tongue, cartwheels, walking on my hands, etc -
January is the only correct answer. Cold, dark, nothing happens in it, and it seems to last an eternity

Engagement rings and wedding rings.
daviddaviddavid replied to Evil Pink One's topic in General Discussion
No idea and I simply don't care either. When the time comes I'm going to just propose with something cheap, and then subsequently ask her to pick out her favourite ring with me and we'll buy that -
Could you fall in love with inanimate objects?
daviddaviddavid replied to Legit101's topic in General Discussion
You'd have to be insane to legitimately fall in love with an inanimate object, but I do believe that it's possible to bond with cars, and to start to see them as a trusty companion. -
I sleep on my back, with my legs spread far apart and my feet pointing outwards. Hands and arms are just running parallel down my side. No idea why, it's comfy to me

Yeah. By the time I was 13 I was over 6ft tall, had full facial hair and a deep voice, so naturally I always looked much older than my age (I actually got into an argument with a train conductor about this once). I'm 27 now, and if anything I think that I'm "reverse aging". Most people tell me that they think I look about 20, which makes me incredibly happy.

What's your favourite energy drink?
daviddaviddavid replied to Dawning Demon's topic in General Discussion
Coffee, if that counts. Most energy drinks are disgustingly sweet and I can't enjoy them. The last time I had one was when I had to wake up at 5am to drive across the country to be at a work conference for 9am (I work locally, this conference just happened to be in an incredibly far-away location for some reason), and I took an energy drink in the car with me. It was absolutely vile, but I can't deny that it did the job of giving me some early energy. -
An extrovert would probably consider it depressing, but I'm extremely happy with my social life. I usually see my best friends once a week, my family once a week, and I get a decent amount of socialising at work too. I sort of need the rest as downtime.

How often do you swear/in front of who?
daviddaviddavid replied to Octavia_Melody2's topic in General Discussion
Not very often. I used to swear a great deal, but an ex-girlfriend hammered the behaviour out of me and most of those habits have still stuck (such as saying 'what the heck' instead of 'hell' etc) - sometimes when I'm under a lot of stress, or extremely surprised, a few swear words slip out though. I do try my best to generally curtail them, but I have varying success with that. -
Where did your childhood scar come from?
daviddaviddavid replied to Reecejackox's topic in General Discussion
As a 4-year old I ran into a sharp dead branch of a tree (was just being careless I guess) and it sliced the skin of my cheek open, about an inch below my eye - if I were an inch shorter, it would have sliced my eyeball open and I'd be blind in one eye to this day, so I count myself very, very lucky. I still have a faint scar below my eye (I always forget which one it is, you can't really see it these days unless you're looking for it). It has been over 20 years since that accident happened, so I'm happy it has mostly healed. -
Almost everywhere, but it doesn't bother me.

I'm 27. Determined to do a great deal this year before I turn 28.

Dark chocolate is generally my favourite, but can sometimes be in the mood for milk too. I don't like most of the chocolate we have here in England, and the stuff in America is even worse (legitimately disgusting) - but some of the European brands are quite nice, I must admit. The Scandinavian brand Freia/Marabou (same company but under a different name, depending on the country) make some of the best chocolate you'll find in a supermarket anywhere, as do Frey and Caillier in Switzerland. The two best brands that I've had overall are Läderach and Godiva (Swiss and Belgian brands, respectively).

Maybe an 8? Negatives: The year actually started off quite badly, with an incredibly toxic person from my past making a brief reappearance in the early January and then being involved in a 4-car collision on a motorway (highway for Americans) in February, which resulted in a minor injury and my car being written off (totalled? for Americans?), and the replacement car I bought having a major defect which led to me selling it for a heavy loss. Then the week after that I got a throat infection that made me miss one of my exams for my degree, so I had to resit it - and a few weeks later, I found out that my now-ex-girlfriend had planned to get with her now-boyfriend a few weeks before we broke up the previous year (the break-up was mutual so there are no hard feelings regarding this (small chance that she may read this, so if that happens: I'm serious, we're all good!) but it was still a little disheartening to hear at the time), and my grandma's dementia seems to be worsening. Positives: Completed my masters degree, got a much better job in the field I actually want to work in (and enjoying it even more than I thought I would), got a much nicer car, entered a relationship with someone who I'm incredibly excited about, I've become stronger and leaner physically through taking my training more seriously than ever before, had some great times with some fantastic friends, I feel like I've gotten closer to God with my faith this year, my family and I are all in fantastic health. I guess this year has proven for me that even if you go through brief periods of being disappointed in things, or wishing that things would turn out differently, to just keep putting one foot in front of the other and to put your trust in God to work things out for you. This year has, in all honesty, probably been the best of my life so far, despite some initial setbacks at the beginning. I'm incredibly thankful to be where I am now and hope that my good fortune will continue into 2024, which will hopefully be a fantastic year for everyone reading this too!

What is your favourite steak sauce?
daviddaviddavid replied to TheRockARooster's topic in General Discussion
I'd go as far as to say that steak which has been cooked properly and is a decent quality cut, is actually significantly better without sauce on it. I'd never put sauce on a steak I make at home. If I'm eating a minute steak or something though I'd probably go with béarnaise. -
What should you prioritize?
daviddaviddavid replied to Kronos the Revenant's topic in General Discussion
I've always found it strange that these two factors have been considered to be mutually exclusive. The future that most people think they want is usually based on their feelings - either those at the time, or factors that they're worried about and want to avoid/etc in the future. And if you choose to pursue a future which is antithetical to these feelings for the sake of some misguided idea of "success", then you'll often end up feeling unfulfilled and potentially even miserable, until you do actually start to listen to them. When channeled appropriately and tempered properly, feelings can become a powerful tool that self-styled emotionless robots like me can even feel comfortable employing to achieve one's goals. 😉 I do think that, provided you have some semblance of control over your feelings, they're always the way to go. Feelings vs Logic would be a better comparison. But even then, I'd make the argument that they're not inherently incompatible. -
What did you have for your Lunch?
daviddaviddavid replied to Reecejackox's topic in General Discussion
8-egg omelette with gorgonzola cheese, turkey and grilled mushrooms inside. Was excellent -
How many relationships have you been in?
daviddaviddavid replied to Olly's topic in General Discussion
Changing this to "somewhere between 2 and 4" 😊 -
Have you ever Googled yourself?
daviddaviddavid replied to Dreambiscuit's topic in General Discussion
Yeah. The only thing that comes up (for me, I share a name with a few celebrities) is my LinkedIn profile, which means that I'm doing a reasonably good job of hiding my internet footprints. -
I love cheese - the mouldier, the better.

Which of your senses would you be willing to give up?
daviddaviddavid replied to Tual's topic in General Discussion
Smell, definitely. Sight, taste, touch and hearing are too good to give up. Touch would probably be my second choice if I absolutely had to -
Not me, bowling is awful and it's baffling that people actually consider it a sport. I went as part of a work trip a few weeks ago and just sat there bored the entire time.
