but I often listen to the Smile Song if I'm feeling down. It immediately cheers me up! :pinkie:

For me, its sort of the opposite, at least in terms of raw emotion.

Listening to pretty much any memorable song from the first few seasons makes me cry

Maybe from nostalgia, maybe from hating myself for taking a hiatus, who knows :sunny:

    Buuuuuuut anyway

If I ever need to cheer up, I watch pretty much any episode Chrysalis is in~

  2. Only pony related gifts I got were 2 diff people giving me a DVD of the MLP Movie, and 2 more people getting me the same present again: volumes 13 and 16 of the IDW comics.

Other then that, it was a little bit of money and some male clothing

    Spoiler

that may or may not be a subtle hint from them regarding an emotional issue of mine

but yes, Happy Hearth's Warming everypony! ^w^

Hahaha, everyone would tell me at that age that I would grow out of it one day. But nothing has changed 15+ years later. The only thing that has changed is I'm good at hiding my frustrations now.

yeeeeeeeep, that's what I hear all the time. "Oh well, when you are grown adult, I bet you're gonna want to have kids of your own"

    nnnnnnnope~

I'm already signed up as canterlot pony and going.

You have a room at the hotel? Me going is kind of dependent on being able to stay with someone unfortunately x3

I’m trying to sympathize, but basically you’re saying you dislike nature. It’s like disliking rain (or any other weather). Sure, you can dislike rain, but continuing to let yourself be bothered by something you cannot stop (and in reality, shouldn’t stop even if you could) is an exercise in futility and a waste of your energy.

I will say that, yes, people shouldn’t get SO up in arms about others not liking babies. But the instinct to protect them is ultimately a good thing. We’d all be dead without it.

And as far as the staring goes, maybe someone has told you before, but that just means they like and/or are fascinated by you. And unlike older children or adults staring, there’s no judgement behind it. Just interest.

90 percent of the time if you look back at them, and give them a smile and a little wave, they’ll either bust out in a huge smile, or get shy and look away.

I mean, i've started recently just not really caring / looking away when babies are involved.

Do they still bother me a little? yes, but I don't really "waste energy" disliking them. Okay so I blow some hot air online and irl at times, but i'm not like...doing stuff to really show dislike other then say things.

Anywaaaaay, this thread is derailing quickly so I shall return it to the OG idea: I dislike the Cake Twins because they aren't really allowed to be anything other then babies in that one episode they were featured in.

I did dislike them as infants because I dislike infants/children in real life. They were a bit too annoying for my liking. I know that we only got one episode dedicated to them but it was enough to remind me that.

This is another thing. like I said, I don't hate on Flurry Heart because she's actually a character. The Cake Twins just sit around and do baby things, and do a rather annoying job at it.

There are indeed babies in other media such as movies and other shows that I'm fine with / find rather cute

    Hell, baby animals are cute

There's just a certain like...mixture of character and baby-like attitude that clashes / I dislike.

  6. I personally find the whole attitude of "Oh, the show is total utter shit BECAUSE I DIDN'T LIKE THE ENDING" to be rather stupid.

I think Nostalgia Critic did a video about that subject: people suddenly dumping on a movie or show because they didn't like the ending.

Did I like the epilogue? sort of, there are some things that could be better, but I enjoyed it none-the-less...between crying my eyes out that is.

They’re fine. They’re just cute little babies.

Sure I’m not a huge fan of infants in real life... or rather, I’m not a huge fan of infants when they’re screaming their heads off because their parents are careless and drag them around at all hours of the day when they should be home napping...

I dislike crap parents way more than their kids.

Well for one, @Will Guide didn’t say that to you specifically. He answered the question displayed in your title. Don’t ask questions you don’t want answers for.

If you dispute the truth of his statement, then offer an actual rebuttal instead of meaninglessly snarking.

Second, few people approve of the “I hate this human being for something that they cannot help” school of thought. Sure babies can be snotty little noise makers, but they’re not doing it on purpose and will eventually grow out of it.

But as long as you’re fine with the fact that others probably hated you as an infant, then at least your not being hypocritical about it. The hypocrisy is what gets people angry, since we all were just as slobbery at one point.

The remark on the whole "you were a baby once" was more of an "okay okay, I get it, enough" thing, since I hear that EVERY time I mention I don't like babies. It's like when the actress that played Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies kept having people be like "HEHE, 10 POINTS TO GRYFFINDOR" every single time they would do / achieve something, it gets old.

And i'll admit that hate is a strong word, I dislike them.

I dislike that they stare at me when i'm eating out for lunch, makes me uncomfortable

I dislike that they have that defense mechanism of "omg, something is weird and foreign to me...time to cry!"

I dislike that they can't really control various bodily functions, so you have to take care of them

I severely dislike that humans have this naturally built-in function of which everyone clusters around a baby to protect it like each and every one is practically the second coming of some god, and that any criticism against them is met with people scolding you / wanting to jump down your throat.

are any of these things me "holding it against them"? No, I just dislike a lot of things that they do, even if they can't help it.

But really, like...why are people fully allowed to hate the various phases they go through such as adolescence, but the moment they mention they disliked being a baby / babies in general, its suddenly not okay? a lot of mental phases, people can't help either.

See, I don't really like that thought, personally. Even when I was like 4, I never did well with babies.

also, finally someone has somewhat of the same opinion x3

  8. Perhaps I am alone in this, yet again, but I honestly cannot stand the Cake Twins: Pumpkin and Pound Cake.

I'm sure they are rather accurate portrayals of how babies in real life act, so I guess they got that right...?

But that's also why I dislike them greatly, as well as kinda don't mind Flurry Heart that much: they act like actual babies, and I truly dislike / kinda hate babies / toddlers irl. Will I still prefer to not watch Flurry episodes? of course, but she's not NEARLY as bad as the twins.

But I'm sure like pretty much everywhere else, I'm alone in this / will be yelled at for even thinking of insulting newborns

To Where and Back again is honestly one of the show's best finales, and I don't know why it gets so much flak.

    My guess is that its

A.) A returning villain / not someone new

B.) S6 is where Glimmy was finally converted into a good guy, so I believe it's also where the Glimmy hate train originated.

C.) Color Bugs...nuff said (Even if I adore the reformed changelings)

Anyway, I'm gonna reverse the topic here and talk about an episode that I hate that I'm sure the fandom finds okay / enjoys: Baby Cakes

I honestly seriously dislike babies in general, so having an entire episode based around them ruined it for me, and I still skip that eps to this day.

  10. As someone that enjoys EVERY season, and has watched the whole thing, I can say that I'm glad that it ended the way it did, and was as long as it was.

For one, I'm one of the only people alive that enjoys s8 / the school / the Young Six characters, and I'll always stick by those opinions.

Was the Baby Cakes episode super stupid? ofc

did they go too ham on Flurry Heart? yeeeeep

    Spoiler

Am I one of those weirdos that thinks Chrysalis should be reformed? hell yes

But overall, I really enjoyed every little bit of it, and im glad the show lasted as long as it did

Otherwise, I may not have ever come back to the fandom~

That's where I'm coming from. You buy it, you own it. It's just common sense, and it's a totally different beast than what I'm trying to convey in here. Some people around here seem to think that it's a moral imperative that all content should continue infinitely as long as at least one person likes it, or that's how it seems. I mean, I have low expectations, but even I do not think there's any hater here stupid enough to advocate for companies' ability to forcibly take away something you own. I'm only saying that fans who fight for the cancellation of content they clearly don't like isn't something that should be perceived as unfair. If you have something positive to say about the thing you love, say it. We'll have a debate. The person I attacked wasn't trying to defend Pony Life with any sort of fact or theory. They went straight for the fans. "It looks so bad it needs to be canceled" ain't peak argumentation but at least it's something. Heck, I did a better job defending this thing than they did. And I'm the bad guy. Buck it. I AM the bad guy! :P

yeeeeeep, I've always hated that mentality of "oh, something looks super bad / some person in the company did something stupid, BOYCOTT THIS AND EVERYTHING THEY EVER MAKE!"
