  1. I found Zephyr himself so irritating because I badly wanted someone to simply tell him that he was being malicious in disregarding his parent's feelings. The cloud collection scene in particular, I would have flipped my lid; I KNOW what collections mean to people, I'm a collector myself! Plus it was just baffling why Rainbow Dash or anyone else didn't simply tell him that she wasn't interested. I know it's supposed to be for comedy, but I'm very much of the mindset that children shouldn't be taught it's okay to let things like that slide, because people will do it as an adult too. Especially wink-nudge 'jokes' when I tell them point blank 'I'm not interested' or 'that isn't funny'. Don't make people uncomfortable to ask that they entertain you because they don't want to be rude and you're getting a selfish kick for your ego. The only thing that really stops me naming Zephyr is the fact that he was HILARIOUSLY CAMP when trying to impress Rainbow in his guard uniform and when he gets so full of himself he is just a massive ham.
  2. I hope it's a mistake too ... I've lost contact with it over time because I just can't watch live, but it drew me in with the story and characters. I want to know who the boys' mother is! Who Dr. Venture's mother is! If nothing else, those two things!
  3. I haven't read or watched all the way through, I admit, but I never, NEVER understood how anyone thought Imprinting on the baby was fine. I get the idea behind being predestined for someone since birth, but like that!? HECK NOOOO I understand where you're coming from with Bugs Bunny, some of the earlier shorts really do have him acting viciously rather than in self-defence and using his wits. We could really add Jerry from Tom and Jerry from this as well; a lot of shorts he is justified (Tom seems to be more of an asshole when trying to impress someone like his friends or the small kitten), but in some he goes out of his way to antagonise Tom. Puss gets the Boot is THE most cruel example, but there was also that beach short where Tom just wants to relax and impress the ladies. Steven from Steven Universe a lot of the early episodes and seasons. His voice really GRATED and sometimes he was too ... 'full on'. He toned down quite a bit, which I liked, then he became so serious and troubled towards the end it went the opposite way :c Meelo from Legend of Korra. Someone should have been fired for including him.
  4. Let's go by the show's logic and the needs of the audience. Would Luna or Celestia ever be terminally ill? No, that's not something that would be shown for the show's demographic. Would they ever be really sick? Maybe, I can see a story to explain to kids that sometimes even grownups get really sick and what happens when they do, why they are so worried about their jobs, things like that. Would they get sick? If only for comedy. Imagine Luna or Celestia with a cold, or magic pony pox. Twilight had a horn allergy that was thought to be alicorn-specific but her sickness was not too serious. Celestia can raise the sun and the moon alone, it's very possible Luna could do it too. I headcanon that it is easy for a sister to raise their OWN celestial body, but they find raising the opposite a lot harder because it's not their talent. But it very much can be done. They could give their duty to Twilight or Cadance if both were sick, but I see them leaving the day-to-day running to trained palace staff if we don't need it as an episode plot á la Between Dusk and Dawn. Unicorns CAN raise the sun and moon, as they did before the Sisters did that as their jobs, so they could be taught to do it again. Long story short: If one was sick, the other would take on duties. If both were sick, trained staff would take care with some help from Twilight and Cadence. Under no circumstances would the show show them as seriously, gravely or terminally ill.
  5. Some music reviewers, used to follow Jim Sterling but stopped as I didn't like all the 'character' and skit stuff, I tune into Markiplier sometimes for horror games as I'm too scared to play them, there's probably more but I'm forgetting a lot. I used to watch some ExoticsLair but his housing for his snakes REALLY REALLY bothers me and I don't like how he basically throws about his hognose and calls it 'Pissy' when really he is tossing the poor creature around. I tried AntsCanada but found his delivery super annoying, like he's constantly waiting for a commercial break and recapping from one. Plus ants in the house gives me the creeps *shivers* I'm checking out some Brave Wilderness, especially for bite/sting videos. I check into CinemaSins if they do a video about a film I'm interested in (like one I know will be bad) and same for HonestTrailers. Ooo, ooo, JaboodyDubs! I love the Guy Fieri videos they do!
  6. Oh stars, this will open a portal to another world of pain ... We have to mention the crown prince of annoying characters, Scrappy-Doo. I will have to have a think of my own personal hated characters, though one off the top of my head is Twilight's Bella for her inability to 'choose' when it's super simple. You could put a lot of characters in that catagory, actually.
  7. You forgot 'EXPLOSED' The whims of the writers. Nothing is as powerful as that.
  8. CSI, the Las Vegas one. I used to love it, but man is it just cringe I used to watch a lot of Nostalgia Critic, but the Junior review broke me and he and his brother were so snappy and defensive about it. Then there was the mess of quitting, coming back, all the stupid skits .. No thanks. Why is it online creators think adding characters and skits make things better? I've stopped watching so many because they became so annoying or added in their spouses or tried to have a 'story' in a review. Smae with Lindsey Ellis. I used to adore her stuff, but now she seems irritated and bored at having to talk about anything. I don't like watching someone who looks like they are forced to do something and clearly is annoyed all the time. Plus she snapped when people were asking if she was okay during Hurricane Sandy and I was shocked at her response
  9. I checked into Steven Universe after seeing all kinds of discussion about it and the whole roar about Pink Diamond, so I wanted to share some random thoughts after seeing a few episodes and having a discussion about plot points: I really didn't like the Rose Quarts is Pink Diamond twist. I liked that Rose was being made less an all forgiving mother type, as I was suspicious about that from the start, but this really is not a good twist at all. I don't like Pink Diamond's design or character at all I think it would have been better if Pink was either shown to be innocent and Rose was more grey in shattering her, in that yes she 'had' to do it to free the Earth, but she shattered someone who was barely even started as a Diamond and hadn't committed the same atrocities as Blue or Yellow or White If we had to keep Pink as the petulant brat, I still think keeping Rose seperate would have been far better. It would make her more right in starting the war, but again, more grey in that Pink Diamond was clearly a tiny 'kid' of a Diamond. Rose would have been more right in that Pink was callous and dismissive and greedy for colonies The twist with Pearl being ordered to keep silent was REALLY REALLY REALLY sketchy and makes Pearl's obsessive love for Rose even more creepy in hindsight, and looks less like a Pearl personally liberating herself with a friend and more Pink Diamond doing her thing and Pearl tagging along for being lovesick I REALLY wonder if Pearl looks at what happened when White Diamond pulled out Steven's gem and remembers she almost did that in Three Gems and a Baby. That must make her stomach really turn I would have given anything for Pink Diamond to reform when White Diamond removed Steven's gem. She formed Pink Diamond, then Rose Quartz, then Steven in rapid succession, but imagine the horror when she reforms as full Pink Diamond and sees what has happened due to her actions I wonder if Pearl was so intent on protecting Rose Quartz not only out of sickly love, but also if Rose Quartz is 'poofed' she would momentarily take Pink Diamond's form and she can't let that happen How does no-one recognises Steven's gem isn't a Rose Quartz when everyone seemingly recognises everyone elses' gem on sight??? I got the feeling the massive hole in Earth's map over Russia was supposed to reveal that Pink Diamond was MADE on Earth. I even thought maybe Rose shattered Pink the moment she emerged to stop even more Diamonds, hence the awe and terror and the Earth Pink Diamond held in the mural was a nod to where she was made The Ball was so disappointing. I remember when the Diamonds were held up with majesty and awe. Where are their attendants, as Blue Zircon asked at The Trial when discussing Pink Diamond? The 'Court' is awfully small I don't need to talk about how downgraded and rushed the Diamond's arcs are, it's so horrible Blue Diamond cannot win against a handful of gems? Again, WHERE ARE HER ATTENDANTS? The Diamonds hugging monster Steven was embarassing Spinel is incredible. Her songs are perfect and she has a completely justified reason for hating Earth and Pink Diamond. I still don't like the 'rotate the gem to change who you are' thing There was a theory that Amethyst was supposed to be a 'leader' type if she weren't undercooked, since her weapon is a whip same as Holly Blue Agate and Jasper is shown to be beifely frightened of it. I really like this theory Did no one teach Amethyst to use her smaller size and incredible shapeshifting ability (she is super-skilled, even for a gem) for battle? Steven Tag with Pearl shapeshifting for the first time was everything I wanted ... except Steven's horrible attitude. Ligthen up, Stevem The theory that Steven WAS affected by the Rejuvinator (Spinel's scythe) because he reverted back to Pink's temper is honestly great and I believe it I don't like the idea that people think the Steven and Greg fusion was 'inappropriate' since fusion has come to mean a sexual or romantic relationship for a lot of people. But there have been nessessity fusions (Mega Ruby in the flashback with Sapphire and Ruby) and there's been a fusion between Steven and Amethyst, who is pretty much depicted as Steven's older sister. I thought the point of Smokey Quartz was to show that fusion can be BFFs supporting each other? Edit: Added onto that, Garnet was overtly hostile to the prospect if being in a romantic relationship with anyone else (that postman guy Jaime) so her fusions with Pearl and Amythyst, while the dances were kinda erotic, clearly weren't romantic or sexual. I personally headcanon that Diamonds normally cannot fuse, hence they ban fusion for all but nessessary purposes. Pink Diamond didn't fuse with anyone as Pink Diamond, only as Rose Quartz Why are Rose Quartz's fusions known as they are? We thought they were Rose Quartz and Pearl to make Rainbow Quartz, for example, but clearly she can't be unless she literally changed her Diamond structure to actually become a Rose Quartz in the moment I know a lot of things will be due to show production problems, but that's just some thoughts I want to discuss and get ideas on
  10. I was surprised at how much I liked the chemistry between Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy in Flutter Brutter. I think Rainbow really got a reality check in Hurricane Fluttershy that she can't bulldoze through feelings, and that Fluttershy needs a different approach. There wasn't really that much chemistry between Fluttershy and Twilight, but on the other hand, they didn't bring out the worst in each other either, so that was great. Twilight was a good foil to let Fluttershy really shine in that episode. I kinda wish we got more Fluttershy and Rarity, Rarity's gentle and kind words towards the shy pony in that Ponytones episode was such a contrast to Pinkie Pie's astonishing lack of tact that was so cruel it was OOC, even for a character I don't really like. I kinda think Rarity mostly tunes out Pinkie Pie a lot of the time, since they are such opposites without much to really antagonise. Both like theatrics, but Pinkie can be A Bit Much I don't like the Rarity and Applejack interplay, they are one of those pairings I think would be deadly enemies if not for Twilight's Official Friendshop Order(tm). It just seems like they needlessly like to irritate each other. Applejack and Fluttershy were a hoot in the Las Vegas episode! I also liked the Kirin episode, but Applejack's refusal to listen to Fluttershy got on my nerves, and do we really need to talk about Bats! ? Applejack feels like the odd pony out quite a lot of the time, like it's hard to see her just chilling since working is a primary motive for her. Someone get this pony some staff for the farm, stat! Even Rarity with her franchise looks like she'd go to the movies once in a while!
  11. Can't believe no-one's brought this up. It's creepy when you can't see the edges of Princess Luna's front hooves ... but now I've noticed them here, I'm not sure if that makes it even scarier with the way they are hanging
  12. Twilight Sparkle's School for Socially Maladjusted Creatures (by Pony Standards). Headmare Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship, former irritable shut-in. Guidance Councillor Starlight Glimmer, known Flipper of Gameboards When Friends Get Cutie Marks As A Kid. (I know it's mean, I just think it's funny. And a little gross, considering Princess Celestia specified that friendship couldn't be taught) The school would be more intercultural understanding than friendship as-is, as that's pretty much the issue for a lot of students; they don't understand each other's cultural standards and differences (i.e. dragons and griffins tend to be blunt and upfront, which can come off as rude and hostile to the sensitive Reformed Changelings). Though, let's be real, the school is there because playing school is a big favourite of kids and the criteria/curriculum doesn't make sense, and having the Mane 6 as teachers shows it's very much made with how kids do playtime as an example. Lots of kids have 'class' with toys of various types
  13. Daybreaker has only appeared in a dream of Starlights, but I found what she had to say really interesing (and I love a lot of her design!) and it got me thinking. We all know how Luna became Nightmare Moon ... But how would you have written it if CELESTIA were the one to fall, and Luna ruled instead? From what Daybreaker said: So what I was thinking ... If we take the elements of Luna's fall, we can easily have it swapped for Celestia. Celestia is surrounded by praise and love and is seen more than Luna. Say it goes to her head ... say she thinks she does the bulk of the work (as she did in A Royal Problem), and wonders why she needs Luna at all. Say she succumbs to the idea of being the only rular, seeing herself as more powerful and beloved than Luna, and thinking the world doesn't need the night, it only needs the day, and ergo only needs Celestia. Daybreaker takes over her, and Luna is forced to banish her sister within the sun to restore harmony. I think it's possible and plausible, what do you think? I am tempted to do a fic on it, to be honest! You could even have Sunset Shimmer take the place of Twilight, and have Twilight be the disgraced student who wants more order and pushes others away instead of embracing friendship, something Sunset seems more at ease doing when she wasn't being nasty. Pic related! Artist is Draikjack
  14. Oh heck, THAT drama ... Flash's human design always bothered me. I'm not sure why, maybe his face is so squished? Like it should be a touch longer? His hair too big in proportion? I'm not sure, but it ALWAYS felt off (His pony design is perfectly fine) EDIT: With Faust leaving, I saw all sorts of deification of her and it really annoyed me. It also annoyed me that EQG was apparently so infuriating to her. MLP is not her baby, she didn't make it entirely, she was brought on to remake a show entirely about selling toys, why is she surprised and mad that Hasbro wanted to do that very thing to cash in on Monster High's popularity? She comes across as stuck up and difficult to work with for me, and doesn't understand that she needs to compromise. She seems to constantly leave things due to 'creative differences' (i.e. a higher-up was going to make me do things I didn't want)
  15. Oh, wow, I completely forgot about the Equestria Girls drama ... It's sort-of amazing how Sunset went from pariah in the fan community to loved and accepted
  16. Now that the show is over, what was the biggest, most overblown or weirdest drama related to the show you can think of? Which ones overall really meant nothing, which ones were for the better despite the drama, and which ones did you forget? (NOT INCLUDING FANDOM DRAMA like Las Vegas Pegacon or whatever it was called or creator fights, because that sort of nastiness is a whole other story and I don't want old wounds to be opened) Here's a list of some I can remember: - Twilight's brother suddenly appearing - Cadence being an Alicorn and a Princess. I think if she were just a Princess (i.e. a pegasus one) it wouldn't have been such a big deal. I keep forgetting that this only happened at the start of Season 2. Season 2!!! - Twilight ascending. *THE* drama I remember, my goodness the hysteria over this - Derpy/Muffins. This is borderline with my no fandom rule above, but it affected the show itself so I am including it - Flurry Heart as an Alicorn. Nowhere near as big a drama as Twilight, this fizzled pretty quick - The show ending, and what the ending was
  17. Princess Luna changed dramatically between Friendship is Magic Part 2 and Luna Eclipsed, and she never really grew any further in terms of height or design changes. I kinda wanted to see if she would eventually become Celestia's height, before I read that Faust wanted to make Celestia a sole Queen before changing it to Princess for Hasbro and adding in Luna. We saw in the Princess Twilight Sparkle two-parter that past Luna looked the same as present, as did Celestia. We can assume this was a style choice to avoid confusing kids as they likely won't remember the original Luna design. I assumed after Luna Eclipsed that the old design was a 'depowered'/weak version, i.e. her starry flowing mane came back once she rested and resumed control of the moon, and Twilight's Kingdom did show the Princesses with still hair when they gave up their magic to hide it. That said ... Do you think Celestia ever looked like Ep. 2's Luna, similar to the storybook illustration? Did you ever think Luna would reach Celestia's height and shape, or was she always going to look smaller to make sure Celestia was seen as the overall rular? I would have loved to have seen a full-grown Luna :luna: Why should Twilight get the Celestia shape and not Celestia's own sibling???
  18. I'm in the minority I can tell ... I think Gilda was done wrong in the episode! She started out 100% in the right; she wanted some quality time with Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie needlessly kept trying to intrude on their time, up to and including physically intruding in a way that shouldn't have been possible for her as an Earth Pony. When she suddenly turned into a thief, and that moment with Fluttershy, I half-expected someone to pop up and show it was a set-up of some kind. The party at the end was another set-up, blatantly so. The show went out of it's way to demonise her just because she didn't want Pinkie around in her personal time with an old friend, and for some reason that's supposed to be her fault? No, I would be super annoyed if the annoying friend of my friend kept butting in on our time when I hadn't seen her for a while! Also, Dash, you ARE GILDA in this season, don't pretend otherwise. If Gilda didn't have exclusive rights to the word 'dweeb' and 'lame' was allowed, you'd be exactly the same as her, and you haven't had any growth yet.
  19. I disliked her for the longest time because she reminded me so much of bully girls in my child days. The obnoxious preening, the loud mouth, borderline bullying nature, the smugness she has in not taking part or avoiding things 'I was busy! NAPPING!' from Ticket Master for example. She's gotten a lot better, and I think being humbled by the Wonderbolts has really helped her. She's not a hot shot with them, she's just another flyer and won't get special treatment.
  20. - Maud Pie. Why is the boring, monotone voice and almost pathological disinterest so appealing to people? She's is like a black hole of charisma, charm and interest. There's nothing to bounce off of her, not even in her 'dry humour' moments. I would be happy to never see this pony again. - DISCORD. Again, WHY the hype for him?! Is it the John De Lance voice thing? He's so overhyped for such an irritating clown. He was more interesting as a mischievous villain who did things for the fun of it and completely changed people, but as an unreliable ally? He's a drunk chaotic friend who thinks he's a great time but your other friends can't stand. - Muffins/Derpy. Pandering to the fans to an embarrassing amount. - Octavia/Vinyl. They do absolutely nothing, and really should have just remained background players. - Lyra and Bon-Bon. I felt something really snap inside my noggin watching the fan episode and the Bon-Bon Being A Secret Agent thing ... just ... WHY?!
  21. No, I liked wingless Spike. I wasn't a fan of his wings as I didn't think they were integrated too well on his body design-wise, plus him being carried around on Twilight's back was cute and funny. It's not a bad change; like the person above said, it's a physical change rather than a mental one, and I liked how it was worked into a difference of pony vs. dragon wings and teaching methods.
  22. Oh, for goodness sake. You're annoyed that entertainment is 'pushing an agenda', is this because things aren't the same old same old for you? That your tastes aren't being exclusively catered for? Is something in this brightly-coloured cartoon aimed at children with a heavily female cast about the magic of friendship twisting your melons? Are you angry Scootaloo can't fly and it's actually a thing? That Kerfuffle has a prosthetic leg? That Lyra and Bon-Bon got married? Someone else getting something that isn't for you doesn't mean you get less. What is the problem here? I love it when main characters don't get love interests because I am tired of love triangles in media, does that anger you? Are you the same sort of person that loves making 'triggered' jokes and doesn't get the idea behind it? Are you sick of the discussions about casting, changes, stories, themes? These discussions are as old as time, people are simply more likely to speak up about changes that anger them. I hate the changes made for a comic property when adapting it to a TV series because a couple of story changes are HUGELY significant and ruin key moments in the books. Was I angry that an actress portraying the character was from a different ethnic background? No, because her ethnicity wasn't a key story issue; her relationship with her father WAS and her background, as well as her relationship with the male lead, and that was completely changed to absolutely change the dynamic. If you think MLP has never been subject to the same 'political' talk as the fears you have for G5, then you are deluding yourself.
  23. Sunburst! I love his design (the goatee is just so well done, very old-school unicorn and actually FITS the world where most beards and moustaches don't), I love his nervousness at times, and I love how excited he can get.
  24. Whisper Blue : We are quite alright. The Springtime celebrations have ended, we are easing into summer, so it is rather warm across most of Equestria right now Crystal Clear: Which means CLEAR SKIES!! Perfect for stargazing!! Hopefully I'll be allowed to go on the telescope again soon .. Silver Song: The hot weather is playing havoc for my throat, though ... Sinus' are so dry ... Whisper Blue : Absolutely not. Our Princess cannot know of the organisation, so we take great pains to ensure that she never finds out about us. None of the Princesses know, no enemies know, no-one does. Those that think they do are merely lucky guessers and have no idea of our true nature and intentions Whisper Blue : No. The bookshelves in the Royal Library are tailored to be made for unicorns, which can be quite galling. While unicorns are magic users and need to read more spellbooks, that does not mean that Earth ponies or Pegasi do not use books. As such, I have certain modifications to ensure I can do my work, such as mouth guards for more delicate books, and ladders for the taller shelves. Wings would only impede my work, and it would create an inbalance in the ILUNAnati. Silver Song: Most of the headlines are gossip stories, like the one about Princess Celestia and cakes, or Princess Twilight and the hayburgers. Some stories are … not so nice. We allow them through to make Princess Luna seem more down-to-earth, but we make sure that any more horrible stories never make it to the news desk, the more serious stories result in a little bad luck for the paper involved, or a far juicier story gets there first. Speaking of which, did I tell you what I overheard Upper Crust say about Swan Song’s new hat during the intermission of the Madam Flutterbye … Crystal Clear: Well, it can make your head spin a little. I mean, I’m a member of one of the most secret and powerful organisations in Equestria, charged with looking after the Princess … but at the same time, I am not allowed to use the big telescope at work and my supervisor has me make him coffee or else I don’t get my lunch? Whisper Blue : Must we have a word about this supervisor of yours … Crystal Clear: N-no! It’s better for my cover if he thinks he can push me around like that! He has no idea what he is trifling with, and that’s a good thing … *All three stare* Whisper Blue : And usurp Our Princess?! Crystal Clear: *GASP* ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Silver Song: Oh my stars, I mean, have you seen Equestria without the Princesses? It would be a disaster! Whisper Blue : Our Princess wants to rule Equestria side-by-side with her sister, and that is what we honour. We don’t care for personal gain or glory. We do it for the love and respect of Our Princess Silver Song: AH! Depending on the season, but the special secret superstar syrup is warm fresh honey, ginseng and cayenne pepper in some hot water. Take a good drink before a show, and let your throat soar! Crystal Clear: Asking what he contributes is kinda a rude question … Silver Song: The ILUNAnati must always have one of every kind of pony; one Earth, one Unicorn, one Pegasi, as Princess Luna embodies the traits of all three kinds into one pony with having hooves, horns and wings together. It can either be two stallions and a mare, or two mares and a stallion. It’s never three stallions or three mares, again for balance. As a pegasi, I have my hoof on what is going on in the cloud cities like Cloudsdale and Cirrusville, and I can mingle with the high-class ponies in Canterlot as an understudy too. Gets you valuable information, especially about outside threats. Being able to fly is a bonus as well! Whisper Blue : Princess Luna merchandise sells very well … Crystal Clear: It’s a mix. A lot of it comes from gold and precious gems that were bought as stocks way way back, as well as investing in printing spellbooks. We dabble in a few businesses now, like investing in Rarity’s Carousel Boutique Silver Song: That’s working out SUPER well for us right now Whisper Blue : You are entertaining. We can allow you to stay a while longer. But you will eventually have no memory of this at all …
