    Huh, why does Sunset Shimmer's colour of magic emanating from her horn turn from blue at the start of the first movie to red further on?

      @Samurai Equine I've noticed that Celestia's magic changes colour often in the showas well. It's been blue, pink, yellow/gold and even white at one point.^_^

      Plus Twilight changed her magic colour to red in Mare do Well episode, so maybe talented unicorns do have that ability.
