Just a random note in case anypony doesn't know: I hate EqG.
I actually despise it. I've never watched it and I don't ever intend to. I've seen images from it, accidentally when I'm searching for FiM pictures, and it just doesn't seem like my kind of show. I think it goes against FiM's timelessness, ruins who the Mane Six are and to be honest, those human designs actually make me feel sick. 
I'm just happy that it was never genuinely confirmed to be canon and that they never forced people who don't like it to watch it. I hope nopony hates me for saying that. 
As far as I'm concerned, FiM is the only one that exists and it's the beautiful show that we all love so much.

The thing about EG is, that the human versions of them aren't the actual ponies. They have the same personalities and names, but they were never our ponies from Equestria. That is why EG was never relevant to me. Sunset Shimmer seems to be an exception by the way and only exists once in both worlds. But I don't know that much about it either.
The good thing about EG is, that you don't have to view it as canon. But you can, if you want to. Unlike the movie, where the characters talk about the Storm King in season 8 and the hippogriffs became a normal part of the show. And even Tempest Shadow appears in the show.
Sunset Shimmer only appears once in FIM and it was just a background image, behind Twilight. It doesn't count in my book.

But yeah, I don't like it either. It's just yet another human world, teen, school setting series with pop songs...
But even then, I don't regret giving it a try. I enjoyed it more than G5, the vibe was still more similar to FIM.

That confirms my suspicions though. I always figured they were imposters! 
I always interpreted SS appearing in the background of the song as a mere wink to the fans because the entire Gen was wrapping up.
If I want cheesy teenage poppy musicals, I’ll just watch High School Musical.
