    Love Hina would be a much better anime without all the moments of Keitaro getting assaulted and domestically abused by his eventual girlfriend, Naru. The chronic male-bashing is sexist and seriously unfunny.

    I thought I was starting to feel a little better after hearing the shocking news of Michael Brooks' sudden passing. Thought I would be coping okay without blubbering. Then I saw his sister's tribute to him on Instagram.

    Cue the tears. :(

    I'm feeling really down today.

    Some of you might not have heard him, but one of my favorite podcasters is Michael Brooks. Hosted his own show under his name and worked with Sam Seder on The Majority Report, he was one of the smartest and funniest guys there. He knew how to break down what makes internationalist solidarity so crucial and presented it from a left-wing, inclusive perspective. He broke down right-wing authoritarian ideology bit by bit so well and was excellent at counterarguing for a healthy, progressive, socialist world.

    Devastating news broke tonight: Brooks passed away from a sudden illness. Former Brazilian president Lula de Silva eulogized him tonight. To say I'm heartbroken is an understatement. :( I don't know him at all, but from all the people who worked with him, he was a really sweet, friendly, passionate person. One of the brightest people, whose perspective and podcast helped evolve people politically…gone. It was tough to type this while not breaking in tears, and it's still hard not to cry reading tributes to him more than four hours since news first broke.

    RIP, Michael. :(

      It's perfectly reasonable to cry right now. You shouldn't try to hold in your tears, it's part of coping.
