Eh, given the potential with the background ponies, I'd rather take my chances with them. Besides, I love my music ponies - Vinyl and Octy mainly - and I personally think classical > electronic, therefore Octavia is favourite. Of the mane 6, there's AJ, Twilight and Pinkie Pie, but too many people will be fighting for them, so I may as well go for others. But imagine it. I'd most likely be like "D'aww, pony kiss me!" because, you know, this is a pony kissing a human. And I'm assuming on the cheek. If my favourite pony was a human or I was a pony, then its a completely different case. I'd probably go into a full blown makeout session with said pony and hope it works. ...a makeout session with Octavia, of all ponies... heheh...

Unless your friend likes speed and really frantic/insane death metal esque metal, Shitstorm is a bad introductory song. Being the SYL fanatic myself, I've summed up SYL's work. Melodies and actual singing: The New Black (preferably Wrong Side or Almost Again, as you said) Raw production and overall destructively powerful songs: Most (if not all) of Heavy As A Really Heavy Thing, select songs from Alien (Shine, Imperial, Thalamus, maybe even Possessions) Variety of metal styles: Alien, The New Black, maybe City to an extent Aggressive/Thrashy metal: Everything up to and including their Self-titled, select songs from Alien (Zen, We Ride, Shitstorm) and one song from The New Black - You Suck Good representations of SYL: All Hail The New Flesh, Detox, In The Rainy Season, Wrong Side, Love? If you're a pussy: The first four songs from Devy's Physicist (because its basically watered down SYL) I can do one on Devy's work if you please.

There's a tapping section around 2:21 of this song. It's one of the most evilest/creepiest sounding parts of a song I ever listened to. And its a pretty sweet solo nonetheless.
