  1. Have I posted this before? Doesn't really matter, this record needs all the praise it can get. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjC24BHMMy0 I've never been quite into The Stooges, but this album is something else.
  2. This album was my fucking jam a few days ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vjHAuTYTus Are there any other great albums made entirely up of samples like this one, or does it stand in a category all its own?
  3. MOOG AND I BOTH HAVE TAMAMA AVATARS YEEEEAH Listening to Opeth's discography. Over the past few days, I've gone from Orchid to My Arms, Your Hearse. I thought Orchid and Morningrise were good, but My Arms, Your Hearse is fucking great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4ayfX6353k
  4. I don't see much difference between the vocals of Tommy Rogers and Aaron Turner or Klas Rydberg. The music behind them is different, but they all have powerful growls.
  5. If there were more cleans on this album, it wouldn't have the atmosphere that it has. That's what it comes down to with ISIS, really, and it's the reason why I think they're so great.
  6. I find that the best way to get used to harsh vocals is to listen to a band like ISIS where the vocals are a little buried in the mix. This is an all time favorite of mine, and a great way to start one's venture into harsh vocal land.
  7. Someone remind me to listen to this at some point. I'm a huge Grind the Ocean fan, so I hope this will deliver too. I'll have to get to it later due to my emo dilemma that I explain on RD92's thread.
  8. Seeing a huge concert tonight with six fantastic bands on one dream lineup. They're all pop punk and/or emo bands. The lineup is Rozwell Kid, State Lines, Modern Baseball, Dads, Pity Sex, and *inhales* The World Is a Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die. Listening to Pity Sex's Feast of Love right now. If you ever wondered what My Bloody Valentine would sound like as an emo band, look no further. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fz2Q_NifmpU It's cool that this show's on my birthday too.
  9. FUCK ME SIDEWAYS. I haven't enjoyed this band's material this much since Portals. Hearkening back to the days of their debut, Hits From the Bow (appropriate, since one of their old vocalists has made a return), and adding more influence from stuff like Pig Destroyer and Mr. Bungle, and you have a really solid and spastic deathcore release that may be my favorite in the genre this year.
  10. When was the last time I did a TBAT Reviews?

When was the last time I did a review :P

I need to get back on that.

  11. The Wild Hunt is looking to be one of my favorite albums in folk music of all time. Listened to both of these. They're supposed to be really progressive and fusion-laden, but I only catch glimpses of it in Atheist's music. I prefer something like this for 90's fusion metal whatnots. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69UX2PPs5Vk There's a charm to the retro production on this album that I love.
  12. DON'T GO BACK TO METAL JUST YET I WANNA MAKE MY CONTRIBUTION I'll actually go super fucking mellow on all y'all and pour my love for The Tallest Man on Earth all over. Nick Drake meets Bob Dylan. And he's Swedish.
  13. I wouldn't call it a guilty pleasure, since I don't take guilt in the things I enjoy, but I would've call the nu-metal I listen to a guilty pleasure about a year ago. Since then, I've found that even if people don't like what you like, you shouldn't take guilt in it. Anyway, my favorites in nu-metal are the debut albums from Slipknot and Mudvayne. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ke-O8p5AyY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4UPArxb5rk These are not indicative of what I usually listen to by any means, but I still dig them.
  14. SUN BAT HER

      Moog the Kvlt

is overrated, good, but not as great as people say it is

I bought it on CD for a reason.

  15. A friend of mine who puts out music under the name Goodthink just released his second album entitled Ascend. It's got a lot of different genres on it, from mathcore to post-rock to atmo-sludge and everything in between. Get it at a name-your-price basis on his Bandcamp. Just started this album. Liking it immensely. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQaWd48jRJM
  16. oh I should have clarified. To me, .5 is like saying 1/2. Like an 8 1/2 out of 10. I do use .25, .5, and .75, but they're much easier to keep track of than .3 or .7 or something.
  17. You fuckers and your decimal ratings. What's the point? How can you distinguish between an 8.6 and an 8.7? It's fucking bizarre to me.
  18. Bought this EP at a record store in Montreal. The only EP to be released by my all-time favorite band. The spine is on the right side instead of the left, and the packaging makes hardly any reference to the band themselves. There's also instructions in Italian on the back to make a Molotov cocktail and biblical passages inside. Rad.
  19. Are you fucking kidding me? This deserves at least an 8.5 or even a 9. I bought it on CD while I was in Montreal. It was worth every (Canadian) dollar. Fuck decimal ratings. >real music go back to reddit u egg
  20. Worthless is fucking tight. One of my favorite recent powerviolence albums. Speaking of recent powerviolence, have my powerviolence AOTY:
  21. This album again. Really great stuff. This might be my favorite Dillinger album that Greg has done with the band. They'll never beat Irony Is a Dead Scene though.
  22. Surfer Rosa would be the best rec for general listening I think. I don't know much about the Pixies outside of that album, but it's a good one.
  23. I'm just saying, seeing how Mr. Moonshire has fessed up about liking things like Ke$ha, you could hold off on recommending a noisy album like Filth. It's a great album, but it won't click with everyone right away.
