  1. One reaction: This thing, this trailer, this movie is so freaking full of potential, so mysterious. I wasn't nervicited this much since Hal revealed Sonic for SSB:Brawl. I just hope those pony-related jokes won't take half of the movie. The plot seems to be linear and predictable, let's see if they can execute this one well enough. Or, hell, they can put some twists. Like, I dunno, that green magic blast is actually transformation into Chrysalis that proceeds to travel back in time into Equestria. Even if the movie fails, it already has enough potential to spawn thousands of fanwork. And I'm okay with that.
  2. But this and the newest update contradict each other. If the plot of EqG has nothing to do with Season 4, then how can it "change the destiny" of Equestria? I find myself in a paradox here. EqG changes destiny of the world while leaving the world untouched. What. Is it a multiverse thing, are there two separate Equestrias, one Equestria with EqG precursors and a gateway to human world, and one Equestria of MLP:FiM? And these two Equestrias just happen to be perfectly the same until the point in time when EqG happens? Unless, of course, by "change" they mean "maintain". Like, that crown is vital, and without it the whole world will just collapse, and it's up to Twilight to restore status quo and make sure there is no visible impact on Equestria. If this is the case, then I have no problem. Reminds me of Sonic Rush. Damn spinoffs, your nature makes no sense.
  3. For some very weird reason the first thought I had after reading this line was "Due to EqG plot, Twilight is going to lose her wings". The more details I read, the more excitement build up in me. This thing aims to fly really high, and it will be THE thing for discussion for a long, long time after its premiere. Can they do it!? Hope so, I still don't see any proof that it is going to be a failure!
  4. Greetings, fellow ponies! I was rewatching Bridle Gossip and stumbled upon a piece of background music that sounds remarkably similiar to one of the most beloved songs of the finale. Here, have a sample: Now, according to credits for both Bridle Gossip and Magical Mystery Cure, this music seems to be made by two different people that mutually exclude each other. Who is it, then? What do you think about this? As a side question, is it a well-known fact? It is something that wasn't discovered until now, for some reason? Do I just hear things? Didn't put it into episodes section because we're kinda dealing with two episodes here.
  5. The only thing I foresee for sure is a good and well-received season 4, followed by an abysmal season 5. The content itself though... What we have now ranges from genius masterpieces such as Party of One and Best Night Ever to incredibly simple Hurricane Fluttershy and Fall Weather Friends. I fail to see a pattern yet, but I see the show is still being written by a bunch of talented people. I was surprised a lot of times, expecting one thing from an episode and receiving something completely different as the episode went by. This makes judging the future almost impossible, at least for me. I can't draw parallels with other shows, base my opinion on stereotypes, I'm talking about people who turned a wedding episode into... well, THE wedding episode, one of the most praised moments of the show. The show will change its focus, of course, simply because they'll eventually run out of morales to use (if not already). I think there will be more adventure episodes, pointless characters, retcons, but it's hard to justify. The show is running on the edge of a giant blade, with its target audience sitting on one side, and bronies on the other side. Tl;dr: G5 is what will happen. Obligatory Twilicorn reference: I'm okay with it and I await something deep and interesting to come out of it.
  6. What a great way to end January! I just can't wait for it, finally we have a chance to see some REAL magic being done! Screw the wedding, screw the empire, look at this, it's character development pushed to the extreme! She looks regal, her clothes are fancy and unique, I really like her... mane! Please don't screw it up, please don't screw it up, please don't screw it up. I know you won't, but please. Don't. So many possibilities. I see deep, interesting stories, adventure stories, even. They can fit that into the show, they already did that with a few episodes, and it was great, wasn't it? The most important thing to remember is: if you can't fit Alicorn Twilight into the story, it does not mean that the writers cannot too. Oh no. They can. Call it my desperate Sonic fan faith, but I really think they can do something really good with this. Note: this post contains no sarcasm what so ever.
  7. I watch Russian version now and then, the local channel finally got their hands on season 2. Woohoo, we get to see A Canterlot Wedding tomorrow. Part 1. With a day gap before Part 2. Something I wish Hub did, but they didn't. Voice acting and overall translation of season 1 is abysmal. I watched a couple of episodes for laughs, and to hear butchered versions of the songs (and they occured, oh boy). At least they tried. But season 2 is localised pretty damn well. It still suffers from the disease known as "if a character is present in shot, they HAVE to emit a sound", but not as severely as season 1. Twilight Sparkle, Bic Mac and Rainbow Dash for some reason have their names literally translated. According to Google Translate and its amazing digital voice, they're Sumerechnaeia Iskorkah, Bolshoy Mahkee and Radooga (Rainbow Crash is Radooga-duga) respectively. Everypony else remained untouched. Mostly. Mare-do-well became the Mysterious Defender. Okay. Luna is called just Princess, sometimes Princess of the Night for extra regal effect. It's still miles better than generic Moon Pony in season 1. Starswirl the Bearded transformed into Swirl the Bearded. Sweetie Belle is now Baby Belle. Cheerilee is pronounced rather odd, perhaps Chee-rally is the closest version. Rarity is, ugh... Rahrity, I guess. Zap apples are no longer Zap. Just apples. Or Magic Apples. Timberwolves? Nah, they're Lessniee Volki now. Cutie marks are Marks of distinction. Uh, sure. Wing power is measured in Wings. Makes no sense, but works anyways. The MMMM is now MMMB, because there's no synonym for "Madness" that starts with an "M" in Russian. Ruins the Mmm joke. Wonderbolts were literally translated in season 1 (Choudo Molniee), but not in season 2 for some reason. Character voices are good, overall, but: Applejack, of course, lacks her accent. Rarity's voice is high-pitched. Twilight delivers every single line like she's surprised of something. Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy seem to be spot-on. Especially Pinkie Pie. Zecora still speaks in rhymes. Songs, oh dear lord, the songs. Actually, Russian versions of season 2 songs are surprisingly well translated. Singing voice is also nice. I love how they didn't use singing voice for Cutie Mark Crusaders theme song is season 1, can't tell if it was a nice touch or lack of professionalism. Intro sequence is instrumental version with russian lyrics ontop. The main difference is: because it's based on the instrumental version, it unintentionally has those kickass guitars in it. Gustave's cake murder scenario has its text captions translated, that's shocking. Russian TV show localisations usually don't translate text. Since nobody here knows what the hell Blue Ribbon is, Applejack is hunting for golden medal instead. Fair enough. Unfortunately, "Party of One" is simply called "Birthday". "Read it and Weep" became "Read it and Enjoy". "The Last Roundup" is too hard to translate, so, hey, whatever, let's just call it "The Loss". And yes, it has the original version of the Derpy scene, with dem eyes.
  8. Of course military tanks are canon, just listen to the last minutes of S2E07 "May the best pet win!": Also I would like to point out that according to this episode, bullets are also canon. Even if it is overanalyzing, it's fun. "X is canon", as ridiculous as it can be, is entertaining. Just imagine if somepony comes up with a huge, complete list of things that are canon. Hm...
  9. The Best Night Ever. Not only this episode is a conclusion to the story arc we had through a whole season, but it also stars all six main characters. I love how it shows business of the ponies in great detail, often combining outcomes of their actions, and gradually goes from success to failure, with the pinnacle of it all being Pony Pokey song, or as I like to call it, Disaster Medley. Everything that could go wrong goes wrong and is summarized in a one and a half minute song clip, with Pinkie Pie singing like everything's just fine. All characters behave the way they should, except maybe for Celestia at the very end of the episode. But still, Best Night Ever is my best episode ever. P.S. Also this is the only, err, "season boundary" that is not a two-part adventure story. Cozy.
  10. I've made a terrible mistake by watching MLP slightly before AT. All my attempts to watch Adventure Time have failed - I lose interest halfway through an episode. I don't know why. Characters, artwork, plot, pacing, phrases, something in this show doesn't allow me to enjoy it. I can't figure out what. Not a fan.
  11. Singing "This day has been just perfect" every time I achieve something in my life. Halp mah, I can't get rid of this phrase! A standard set of "Not cool", "yay", "dun-dun-duuun", "20% cooler" and "Because you're EVIL! Evil!". Also, when I'm feeling bored and/or random, I quote Robotnik. "HOTCAKES. Isn't that NICE". Makes no sense, but hey.
  12. Ooh, I like this topic. The world is full of epic music, and one of the best places to find it is video games! Seriously, it's like the majority of good composers has fled to game industry, I cannot otherwise explain this heaven for ears we have today. What makes it better is that usually that music has context displayed on screen. Nearly every piece envokes at least one emotion. Especially when it makes you feel bigger than you really are. Epic! At least I think that's what epic is. This melody from Sonic Colors is simple, but it gets the job done, especially if you know what's going on: Starcraft 2's main theme. There's hardly anything more colorful than this. It hypes you for battle, it calms you down, it reminds you of your past glory in Starcraft 1, it's just incredible. Shame it's never played in the game itself. Why, Blizzard, why! Levitated Ruin literally makes me feel less weighty. It's beautiful how you can fit an electric guitar, piano and strings, all in one song, and still make it work. It's not epic per say, but it is adventurous. And there are many more!
  13. I loved this fanfic! I took my time to read this fanfiction slowly and out loud (terrible russian accent included), and I have to say, I like the way it is divided into chapters and parts. Each and every part starts and ends precisely where it needs to, and can be summarized in one sentence. Character portrayal is nice. You can't go wrong with Pinkie Pie, and even here her 4W jokes are great and not overused. Applejack's manner of speech is reflected, Rarity's as well, for a few lines she has. Twilight never asks, she logically thinks out loud, that's TS I know. I'm not sure why hasn't Twilight figured to travel to Canterlot without Applejack's suggestion, but hey, it's a minor thing, doesn't affect the plot in any way. I guess. OR DOES IT Newcomers, these are nice, too. I love how they are contrasted against each other - blue and light blue stallion against yellow and dark yellow mare. Swick has his own part at the beginning of chapter three, complete with inner monologue of all things, you can't call him alien after that. Based on some overcomplex sentences in this fanfic, I can see that you imagine these as scenes from an actual episode before writing them down, don't you? I am really interested so far!
  14. So let me get this straight. Spike starts acting out of character. He invents a rule which forces him to stick with a pony, ruining her life without making her angry. He doesn't remember his feelings to Rarity. He does everything he is tasked with, to get positive emotions from his, err, owner. Based on that, we can safely assume that he's a changeling. RUN.
  15. I've enjoyed this episode as much as Spike has believed that fake timberwolf. That is, not enjoyed at all. The very idea of this episode conflicts with the ending of "Owls Well That Ends Well". Dragon code is literally burped into the scene out of nowhere. I thought Spike was saved from all kinds of danger a few times, and he never went full-service on any savior. What about the ending of "Secret of my Excess"? There is no reference to that at any moment, which is surprising to say the least, because we actually have Rarity and Spike in the same shot for a good minute or two. It feels like a picturized fanfiction, to be honest. The only interesting thing I can see in "Spike at your Service" is that pile of books Twilight got from the princess. Just a bunch of generic literature, or foreshadowing something?
