movies/tv Favorite non-MLP voice actor?
Scritches replied to CastletonSnob's topic in Media Discussion
They're not the most talented out there but they've portrayed some of the coolest male characters out there: Stephen Jay Blum(Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop), David Hayter(Solid Snake/Naked Snake from the Metal Gear Solid games), and Matt McKenzie(Auron from FFX). I would have also said Scott McNeill(Duo Maxwell from Gundam Wing) however he actually has been in FiM as one of the diamond dogs and Chief Thunderhooves. -
music Songs you like that aren't in your preferred genre(s)?
Scritches replied to Champion RD92's topic in Media Discussion
For the longest time I've been a jazz/classical/rock/blues guy. I've despised mainstream pop with a fiery passion however I still enjoy this little pop tune from the 90's. -

Call me biased, but you can't beat out 237 years of combat excellence. Sweetiebot is only one machine, albeit a cartoon one, but a machine none-the-less. Her defeat will happen sooner or later.

music Am I the only brony that prefers to listen to 80s music more than today's music?
Scritches replied to Lewis the Brony's topic in Media Discussion
So am I. I like alot of that stuff too. In fact check out some of these individuals down below. All the stuff listed below is newer music that is style along those lines. As such you might be interested in listening to then. They all adopt a more 80's New Wave sound while still staying relatively fresh. Lazerhawk http://lazerhawk.bandcamp.com/ Star Traveller(who is also a brony) https://soundcloud.com/star-traveler Com Truise http://comtruise.com/ Not at all. There is no direct correlation between age(or lack there-of) and good taste. -
mega thread Song Stuck in your Head Right Now
Scritches replied to Blue Moon's topic in Media Discussion
"I Ran" By Flock Of Seagulls Something of note: According to the article on Wikipedia, the song "I Ran" was released in 1982, it peaked at #9 on US music charts and was #1 in Australia. -
I oppose women being in combat positions I oppose the current policies regarding LGBT being in the military(I supported "don't ask, don't tell") Bacon and vanilla ice cream can and DO go together amazingly and I think every place should allow you to order a meal that is like this There is nothing wrong with being a virgin after high school/before marriage ... ... ...uhm... hmm...something random and insane... Tara Strong isn't all that pretty? (I don't actually believe this one)

You forget that NOT EVERYTHING that gets big fades quickly or completely. Just look at Star Trek, Star Wars, and Firefly(it got cancelled over 10 years ago) all of whom STILL have active fandoms. I for one see the current brony fandom being like the ones I listed above as opposed to the shows you have listed. Something of note: Star Trek the original series was cancelled after it's third season. Star Trek: The Next Generation was expected to get cancelled after it's first season, it ended up lasting a full seven seasons.

I noticed that alot of people don't seem to say/remember exact details of their pony-filled dreams. I suppose I should have seen that coming. And since no one else seems to want to tell their stories anymore, I'll tell you about another of my dreams. This one was a short one, but I was walking along a gravely shoreline like the kind you would find near a river or lake. While walking along it I saw a bundled mess of trash. It was loaded full of mangled and rusted bits of metallic something. Out of nowhere a white colored creature lands to my left right near the pile of trash. It was Surprise and she looked just like the concept drawing Faust made for the pitch bible. She bounced off of the pile and sprang straight towards my face with both forelegs extended as if giving me a hug. She was smiling and her eyes were closed. I woke up moments later.

It's something that I have talked to with other bronies before and in my opinion a great topic for conversation: how many of you out there have seen ponies in your dreams and if so what was your dream and how did they show up in it? I'll start with mine as just last night I found myself in a dream that on the surface had a real life feel to it. I was in a mall-like place wandering around in circles throughout it chasing some other individuals and being chased in the midst of gunfights. This is a common theme in my dreams, however what struck me as odd at one point is that I was running from a group of hostile individuals and came out to a pool area and standing there in the middle of a platform near a pool full of people was Trixie, donning full robe and hat. I immediately recognized her and darted out of sight as she seemed to be in charge of all of the people chasing me. I got to a nearby pool and talked to a guy there who, in my dream anyways, was some kind of celebrity/badass. I talked him into helping take out Trixie, who had started to trot away calling some of her servants/followers with her. I don't remember much else after that point. This however isn't the only dream of mine to have ponies in it. So how about the rest of you?

Aiming towards getting a pony mod made for a ye-olde game. If you're interested in helping out, let me know.

Been doing a little preliminary work on a mod(referred to as plug-ins by the game makers) for the old PC/Mac game Escape Velocity Nova(the mod itself will be made for the windows) Thus far I've managed to make a few graphics for the various news stations and start working on the creating the various governments involved. I will be doing my best to post updates as they come, it will be slow in coming as I have never taken on a project like this before. Any advice given by those with Planned: –Custom sounds for weapons/worlds –at least 3 modified ships for each faction –at least 1 custom made ship for NLR/SE –at least 4 new worlds –at least 1 new weapon for each faction(moon beam, sun beam, party cannon, etc.) –at least 1 device specific to each pony type(pegasus flight, strength of the earth pony, etc) –custom made outfitter/shipyard/description images for each ship/weapon/device –a little backstory for why the various places are in/on different worlds/systems Hoping(but unlikely): –a short set of story missions for each major faction –conversion to/support for the Mac version. Seeking: –Any advice from someone more experienced than myself –Art/vectors that can be implemented into the game.(With credit to/permission from the respectives artists; specifics to come later) –Bananas for banana sun goddess?* * *UPDATES BELOW* As of 3/11/2013: –Modified a test ship for use(data and graphics) –implemented NLR government data; added stand-in data for SE, Changling Swarm, P.A.R.T.Y., Violet Dominion, and Crystal Empire. –Added stand-in data for NLR main solar system –Created ship-based weapon mimicking a unicorn's telekinesis(name: Unicorn's Influence)

gaming What is your favourite board game?
Scritches replied to Up From The Ashes's topic in Media Discussion
Chess, Risk, and call me old school but I also like playing Chutes and Ladders. Star Trek for the win. Star Trek Trivia: 3-Dimensional Chess has been in the Star Trek franchise since the second episode of Star Trek: The Original Series and has been seen in both Next Generation and Deep Space 9 as well. -
Color: loads of blues, think Luna based. Theme: New Lunar Republic themed background with Luna prominently featured? Additional: If you could manage to have a fleet of ships behind her with a few silohuetted in front of the moon, that would be awesome. I equate my odds of this happening as next to zero, so if you can't manage to do it I won't fault you.

Perefect Dark, that is all. ALSO I MUST PUT IN FILLER WORDS SO THAT THE FORUM HAS IT'S REQUIRED 100 CHARACTERS. IT'S ABOUT AS ANNOYING AS HAVING TO PAY TAXES.

You know it's funny how many people make a stink about this issue but no one ever questions Rarity's abliity to fly in "Sonic Rainboom" with a set of wings that are anything but natural. Twilight's are a natural part of her physiology. Also something of note: Scootaloo is supposed to not be able to fly(and probably never will) because she is disabled as per word of Faust from this video.

The hate for the term comes from reacting to it's origin. It was invented by a femanist(though in her article she claims it existed before hand) who was NOT a part of the fandom and had only begrudgingly(pay attention to her tone and you'll spot it) watched some of the show. She also lambasted the term Brony as being more or less a sexist term. Here's a link to the article and you should have seen how many bronies, many of them female, reacted negatively to the term back when it first came out. http://globalcomment.com/welcome-to-the-herd-a-feminist-watches-my-little-pony-friendship-is-magic/ Something else of note: At the time that this article came out, many female fans of the show were referred to as Fillies.

Though I understand why you feel the way you do about it, what I described before is how I have converted over a dozen people(including all of my close friends) into the fandom, including two haters. A third hater is now complicit and offers me no trouble for being a part of the fandom. The one thing to make sure to do is to do it on an indivdual level, not to a group and not to do it out of spite. As for forcing someone to like something, they won't have to. No one is ever forced to join this or any other fandom and every person has a choice; just like you did and just like I did. I wasn't forced into the fandom the moment a friend of mine starting talking to me about the show. In fact when he did, I called him a faggot(something I don't say anymore) to his face. I WAS one of those haters and I turned because he sat down and explained it to me. If my friend had prescribed to your notion, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you about this and much of the fandom wouldn't be here either. The point of this story is that the ideal is to present the option to others so that they can, if they so decide, make an INFORMED DECISION about the show from someone who is actually a part of the fandom as opposed to the rest of the world's say on the matter. Need I remind you of what Howard Stern, Fox News' Red Eye, and others have to say about bronies? The mainstream media is where most people will get their opinions of us. If we stick only to ourselves, the rest of the world will never really know what we're about and they will believe whatever is floating around, good or bad. Something of note is that I do not under any circumstance believe that anyone should be harassed or harass others into joining, which is what I believe you are talking about or that you believe I am talking about. That being said, I'll simplify this for you, we must spread the knowledge to conquer the hate. If we don't speak up, no one will ever know. If we are not publicly bronies, then far fewer people will ever be presented with the thought of even watching the show. Knowledge is power. /) All this being said, we are a bit off topic. If you'd like to continue talking with me and sharing our experiences on this, feel free to PM me so that we aren't interrupting everyone else. One thing you could try is to get a hold of Living Tombstone by appealing with your mutual heritage and see if he would be willing to appear at just such an event. I speak from experience as this is how many of the more succesfull meetups in my area are done. Albeit it's Xyro and Chef Sandy who live in my area. I could wish it was Living Tombstone, but then who you would have? Something else, you are never too young to learn how to start leading and taking charge. The sooner you start the better you will be in the long run. My advice on the subject is to not lord your leadership over others, it tends not to end well. However every situation/person is different, so see what works for you. Allow me to show you a few things: ^both Koroshi-ya and Feather are from Australia, and one of them is and EqD pre-listener. Then there's Oatstralia Live which is hosted by a bunch of Australian bronies http://www.ustream.tv/channel/oatstralia-on-air-live https://www.facebook.com/OatstraliaOnAir oh, and all of the above will be at PonyconAU I hope this has been enlightening.

Been finding myself pretty busy on here lately. Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things.

Truth be told in the earliest days of the fandom that is exactly HOW it was spread. Sure it has made people hate us, but it's also a display of our passion for the show. To stop because we might be hated is not the right answer. Not "shoving it down everyone's throat" hasn't stopped people from hating us. There will always be those who hate us because of the nature of our fandom forcing people to question societal norms. It starts with simply talking to people in a mundane manner about your hobbies passions, and it can be anything from. Most will give you a negative response when/if you tell them you are a brony, do not act aggressively or overly defensive. Be calm, yet assertive. Be alright with them not liking the show, just simply share with them why you like it as much as you do and why you think it's a good thing. Relate to them how good it has been for you. Share with them the music, art, and stories that the fandom has produced, tell them of what has been accomplished by the fandom, tell them about how we have had fan names that have been made canon, tell them about how close the production team and the fandom are and how often they interact. More people will respect passion for something over sheepishly hiding it in the shadows. Might you be attacked or harmed for your views? Yes you can, however any punch thrown or hurtful word spoken shows to you and to others the despicable nature of those who attacked you. Do not let it deter you. If times become too hard or a situation too harsh, you have the rest of us here in this community to help you out and to help give you peace of mind. I myself hit hard times financially and as such I wasn't going to be online as often, the very instant I let everyone in my personal circle of bronies know that I wasn't going to be online as often, many bronies opted to have donations taken up to help get me back on my feet. I politely declined, but this goes to show you the lengths to which many bronies will go to look out for one another. And to me, that's something special as it's a sense of camaraderie I haven't seen since I was in the Marine Corps. It's something you won't see in any fandom(or any other civilian organization) anywhere in the world. I wish you luck with all of this Brook, I will try to lend you advice as best I can and should you ever need it feel free to contact me.

I need help: Which little pony is this!?
Scritches replied to TreasureBoo's topic in Sugarcube Corner
hmm...this might take some research, stand by. Based upon what little research I have done, I can speculate that she is Royal Ribbon based upon mane color, pony type, coat color, and eye color though I am still searching the actual episodes to see if her cutie mark was visible on screen to confirm that it is her. http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Royal_Ribbon It seems that this pony is named Starbeam Twinkle and may or may not be the pony actually seen on screen known as Royal Ribbon. http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Starbeam_Twinkle check my above post to see what she is named.
