    So I have two options here: live in a run-down, semi-ghetto neighborhood with sensible rent, or pay obscenely high rent to live at a much smaller place just for a fair chance of not getting robbed.

      if you feel your gonna get robbed then id say go for the more expensive one. but, you could just get loads of mlp sutff (if you havent got any) and just hide your stuff near it, then they might leave cause they dont wanna search through ponies.

      Id have to agree that if you could afford the higher rent happily, then take that option.

      I would recommend going with the safe route, despite the obscenely high rent. While that is not ideal, it is preferable to living in constant fear.

       

      You could live in the safe neighborhood for now, and try to find an equally safe neighborhood that offers a more reasonable rent.
