  1. Oh wow, this seems like a thread I'd enjoy.

    THERE WE GO:

Pretty much anything sounds like a banjo, if you apply an exponential decay.
Helicopters are surprisingly cheap, you can get one for $100K, tow truck included.
The top propeller of an autogyro isn't actually a propeller, it has no motor attached to it and only acts as a rotating wing, giving it a lift.
    Autogyros seems surprisingly maneuverable though.
Helicopters are usually designed to be able to land safely even when the motor dies.
The new Rolls Royce Phantom has an active suspension, which scans the road ahead and adjusts the pistons the wheels are connected to accordingly. Bose has made this technology, but it's too heavy and pricey to be used in larger scale:

  2. Well! It's definitely great to see the great hardware of PS4 having some sensible use...

Shows how Linux can really run anywhere... :D  I kinda really have my doubts as to how useful this is, as there will likely be many compatibility issues (geez, 7000+ changes in *KERNEL*) But it's still an octacore processor computer for under 500 bucks... Kinda cute.

  3. Go for the 760 then. Trust me you might often find your 750 Ti being pushed to the limit if you try running games on 4K. 760 will not move mountains but it is a bit better.

If I need, I'll switch to full HD. In fact, if it can run Deus ex 1 on 1024x768 I am cool with it. I hardly play any games at all at the time and I only will have less time in future. But I'll consider it. Thanks! :3 Do you think 760 could run 2x4K in windows without lags? Can't find much info.

  4. First of all I recommend you get an Nvidia card.

Secondly, if the games you plan on playing will not be that heavy then a good card in the range of 200-300 dollars should do fine. Maybe something that is overclocked? Try the 770 or 770 Ti.

Heyee! I think I'll just get a 750Ti. Seems to be decent and pretty cheap! :3 Now to make some super popular post so that my brohoof/post ratio stays 1:1

  5. If you want to play the latest games in 4K, I would recommend nothing less than a 970. If you want 4K but don't care about gaming so much, then you'd probably be fine with something like a 750 Ti.

Hey there! Thanksies. I've been considering the 970, but those beasts start at about 400 bucks and considering at first I haven't been considering getting a new card, it's a bit too much I guess. 200-300 bucks is okay I guess, but the less the better.

Now I'm not really the right person to ask when it comes to hardware but I'm just going to leave this here

it's not a suggestion, just something that might catch your interest. Well, unless you already knew about them

Thanks, Jokky! You should come on Skype sometime soon! I know about those. The problem with them is that they either support only a lower resolution for multiple screens or they support 4K but only once for the price very similar to the 750ti... There are ones that support like 4x4K, but those are out of my budget...

Oooh hi! It's been a while since I saw you?

Anyway, that's almost all I have to say because my eyes glazed over trying to read what you posted. >.< However, I will say that the 750 Ti was considered questionable to run the game The Sims 3 with all Expansion Packs, which supposedly, by gaming standards isn't too demanding of a game (I disagree, but whatever...), so I personally do not consider it a desirable card. I'd go at least one above it! (760?)

Wee! I am here almost every day, but I hardly ever post. ;) I do not care much about gaming, but I've seen 750Ti run watchdogs on ultra... My 5770 is still fine in terms of performance, if I don't count the fact it can't handle 4K.

    EDIT:

     FirePro W4100

is not an nVidia card, but seems to be able to support 2x4K screens... *sigh* I dunno. :C

  6. Hey there, everypony! I am looking into buying a 4K screen mostly for After effects and Blender related work. Since I am used to having 2 screens, I wanna be able to have an additional lower res screen side by side to my main 4K one. I also wanna have the option to change my second screen to a second 4K one. I have multiple GPU slots on my motherboard (Gigabyte P55AUD5), so I guess I could keep my current 5770HD and get an additional card for the 4K screen.

However, I am not entirely sure which card I should get. I want it to be as cheap as possible while being capable of providing a decent flickerless image to my screen.

I don't really need the card to be too powerful. I don't really have the time to play games and when I do, it's usually like Hitman: Blood money or Deus ex 1 or Tribes 1 or TF2 something super old. I don't usually play games newer than 5 years and even then, I don't really need to run 'em in 4K.

I would, however, appreciate nVidia over Ati (or is it AMD now?)-Blender can use nVidia cards to speed up the rendering dramatically.

So basically, I am looking for a cheap nVidia card that can display 4K stuff without problems. What would you suggest?

    I found this list:

    http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/4k/supported-gpus

So far, the gtx750TI seems like the way to go. What do ya think? :D

  7. it has to be pure magic, if it obeyed the laws of physics then he would need to have a tail rotor to compensate for the rotational forces of the main rotor, in real life he would just spin around in a circle without a tail rotor to hold him straight

He might by gyroscopically stabilized by a device under his shell. :3

  8.

(GTA:SA, oh the nostalgy  )

I'm surprised everypony loves rain. :3 I mean, so do I, but I don't know anypony else who does. Maybe it's one of those things bronies have in common. Or maybe it's just because those who don't like rain don't click the topic named "rain and why you love it". :D

  9. @@thegoodhen,

Yeah, I didn't think that it would actually work in real life. But in the Steampunk world, Anything with steam is possible!

I'll have a look at the steam engine, but if anything the start of movement for the pistons to start heating up would probably be from just pouring water through the cogs.

Thanks for coming along and helping out.

No problem. I think it should be at least plausible-you know, at least belieavable to start with.

You need something that at least LOOKS like it could work. A common mistake would be to "Just glue some gears on it and call it steampunk."

Every aspect of your design should be there for reason. This also helps you define the look of your creation and make it really unique. Function defines look. That's how it is irl, or at least how it should be.

I suggest you take a look at steam cars, old steam trains (Rocket?) and this kind of stuff.

If you try and design it around a combustion engine, it won't look steampunkish, since combustion engines weren't around when steam was manesteam.

  10.

From there, pistons go up and down, with the friction they are causing by going up and down, they heat up the water entering the chambers to very high temperatures.

I don't really think that would work irl.  Maybe I am missing something, but it sounds like a "Perpettum mobile"-or a perpetual motion machine.-one that powers itself, breaking laws of physics in process (thus it can't work). The friction wouldn't be high enough to heat up the water to such a high temperature! Sure, friction can generate a lot of heat, but where'd you get the energy to turn the motor in the first place? You need some sort of heating element to heat up the water.

I don't think combustion engine related research is useful for what you need. Try searching for James Watt steam engine.

  11. Okay. Where to start... Oh! Maybe by answering the OPs question. :3 Well, yes.

I earned my first money thanks to mlp by selling sculptures...

Made an account on Paypal that opened me doors to earning more money-I also improved my 3D graphics/post production skills thanks to this franchise, so now I can do it for cash! :3

I learned sculpting thanks to mlp.

I learned to sing (a bit, okay :D) thanks to mlp.

I got into closer relationship with one friend of mine. Now I call her my sister.

And most importantly, I've met my special somepony...

    :3 :3 :3

    Such a great, GREAT person! :3 :3

And well, not sure if I should give credit for what this pony's given me to mlp...

But without mlp, I wouldn't have it...

I am even more confident now... Some might argue whether this is a good thing, but for me it is! :3

I feel loved. And got cured. Turns out this special persons family does alternative medicine. I can now sleep 20% less while feeling more fit. :3

And not to mention support when I need it, like when I lost my credit card and thought I'd need to pay 100 bucks to get it back, but I was informed this is not needed thanks to new EU regulations... Saved me lots of stress.

And also... I was told I can spend 90% less on my cellphone bill and still call like I do normally. :3

And the list goes on and on...

  12. Probably just the title. It's a play on the words "Equestria" and "Costa Rica".

But yeah, that's pretty much it. I wanted to make it a Brony song... :\

Sh... :3 So I was pretty close about it being spanish-y. :3 You can try and implement some mlp samples in it next time. :3 Or clo... I mean the sound ponies make when they put their hoofsies on ground-sound.
